If you put airbags in the rear coils then you could adjust the pressure for the varying weights on each side. We have Airbag Man airbags in the rear of our 110, mainly for towing our caravan, and they are excellent. Re mosquitoes, you can buy mosquitoes screens with Velcro which can be dropped over each opening. We use one at our home.
That’s a great Idea would love to give them a try. We thought about adding a screen in the back but we constantly open all the doors and we thought they would be in the way all the time. But we might just try it in the future
For us is my more about the straightness of the bench. A tilted back rest would be better and a deeper sitting cushion. But space is limited and we worked with what we have 🤷♀️

Regarding the uncomfortable sofa, you can just make a sliding bench for let say 15 cm, that will allow to incline the back puffs. You can even make a sliding folding bench, the upper part of which will "automatically" be a inclined back. And it will saves the space of course.)))

Great video! Same here: we drove from Berlin along the Silkroad to Usbekistan in 2019 and had the same issues with the Lifesaver Jerry Can. The concept is great but the leaking tap, especially when sitting on its side was very annoying- even when not pressurized. I hope Lifesaver will find a solution. Uhh so jealous, we originally went out to drive this route and continue to Japan. But this sadly was not possible anymore. One day we’ll do it! I send Lifesaver a design to implement a ball valve (Kugelventil) but they ignored it. I’ll have it made as soon as we come to workshop that can do it. I’ll let you know how it works. Ja, wo weniger dran ist kann weniger kaputt gehen. Das ist richtig deshalb bin ich bisher auch immer nur alte Autos gefahren die ich selbst reparieren konnte. Der Zyklonfilter hat die durchsichtige Tasse damit man sehen kann wieviel dreck sich dein gesammelt hat und ihn rechtzeitig leeren kann. Das mit der Schüssel ist ein guter tip. Da hätte man hier und da bestimmt etwas Geld sparen können. Andererseits denke ich das ich die Schüssel bis an mein Lebensende haben werde und so gesehen ist es dann auch wieder nicht schlimm 😅
If you move the water from let side towards the right side of the car. That creates an open space to fit heating components if you can for reduced weight combined for water tank to center the car.
Our heater is below the cubby box (center console) and the silencer is in the small box on the bottom of the big furniture. So no Need for more heating 😜. Maybe another battery, options are endless. 😅
Some fantastic thoughts from this one ... As regards the lean I'd simply buy handed springs and switch the sides. We run right hand drive here but I think a chat with the likes of OME might get you where you need to go.
Hey, I’m not sure if I get this right, as far as I remember is the longest spring the one left back… are you saying the right hand drive spring on the right side is even longer? I was thinking about custom springs. But those are super expensive…
@@Thebluelandy So in the UK the drivers side springs are slightly heavier duty. This changed in the later setups. Hence you can mix and match spring setups should the need arise. They used to do this a lot after the Camel Trophy challenges when the Special Vehicles department took over the unusual specification requests including the Gold overland specs Sir Ranulf Feines opted for that never quite made it. I would opt for OME or the equivalent these days as Land Rover OEM isn't at all what it used to be 👍

Hi guys. Really enjoyable video. Many interesting things to see here. The battery setup is particularly interesting. Couple of questions if that's ok. I assume the batteries are in parallel so 160 amper hours? I wonder about the alternator, is it possible you could put too much load on it if the batteries go low? I think your setup is a great testimonial for the defender, gives me hope for my 89 110 with a 200tdi.....
Hey Kerryman, you are Right a normal generator / alternator is not built to charge big battery banks. And this is not ideal. But due to the fact that the solar is doing 90% of the work, and in a normal day we reduce alternator load there, the solar is even during driving assisting the alternator. We basically only use the alternator in a bad weather scenario, and we try to avoid bad weather as good as it goes. The hole car is not really built for more than 3 days of rain. Remember we cook outside 😉 I’m sure you’re 200 tdi will do a great job aswell, just listen to it and localize new noises before something breaks 😂
