    If you're reading this and you just watched this video for the first time or just landed on this channel: this is what you get when you mix spanish and german engineering with an english car and a society that makes people sick and sell them meds. damn, i can't stop watching this video. everytime i re-watch it i catch something with my eye that i go like "fuck, i need to do this".

    the air compressor positioning and the air system is just 🤯. you guys even have an air cilinder, i didn't think that was possible and the value on this is just MENTAL. i wonder if i can do the same thing and use a air suspension compressor, that looks a lot like an air suspension compressor.

    • @Thebluelandy
      @Thebluelandy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes you could use an air suspension compressor but as far as I know those are high pressure low flow… for tires you want the opposite. And you would need to add a pressure switch which turns the compressor off. Ours is set to 6 bar of. The hole system is rated for 10bar. If you have the space add a bigger air tank, ours is too small.

      Hi Mario, the inlet comes with a breather, so when the tank is full there is water coming out of the breather. No need to check while filling. We have only holes on the top of the tank to reduce the risk of having leaks ( no drain hole for example)👌

    omg! i thought i was gonna have to wait longer for a rig tour! Damn you guys are good, i can see how everything just make sense for you guys. I love how the dash is setup. And how genious was this idea of the heat exchange stuff? Holy moly, that's what i call engineering. Ya'll use propane to cook? Because i'm on a dilema. I might buy a dual propanel cooker (i don't know if it's called that way, you know the thing with the 2 burners?) and use it with a 2kg propane tank that's gonna stay on top of the car and buy a fuel stove for emergencies. I'm wondering if i can do the oposite, because i know that cooking inside the car with fuel is dangerous as fuck. Do i get a 2 mouth burner that uses propane or fuel? And of course, in the name of all the subscribers i thank you both of you for the video and for putting the time to edit and make it so clear for us! Be safe out there guys! Good to see ya'll again!

    • @Thebluelandy
      @Thebluelandy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey Gustavo, thank you so much!
      We use a Coleman two burner stove that Runs with petrol. It’s a simple bit of kit, I got it cause my dad was traveling with a Coleman for years and it never failed. And I figured you can get petrol everywhere, to refill propane tanks can be tricky in some countries.
      We have a Primus multi fuel as backup it runs with propane, petrol or diesel. We use it with small propane cartridges to make coffee in the morning or also cook inside (but this happed only 1-2 times so far)

    • @frank-lr
      @frank-lr 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you really want/need to cook inside? I mean what with all the smell and vapours. In addition burning propane creates a lot of water vapour; I guess 10 minutes uses about 30g, which creates about half a bath tub's volume of water vapour.

    • @GustavoScarpellini
      @GustavoScarpellini 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@frank-lr i would be cooking inside emergency only. And i think boiling water for a coffe or frying some eggs doesn't take long enough to moist everything. Crack a window a little bit open and make the air circulate. Regarding the smell, i don't know, it doesn't bother me that much. I would rather sleep on the beach smelling like noodles than sleep at home smelling like soap.

    Keep up the good work :)

    • @Thebluelandy
      @Thebluelandy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey thank you!
      Strong wind is a problem. Especially if your lifters getting weaker, then the canvas is rattling, Which is a nightmare at night.
      It gets better, If you turn the front of the car into the wind but sometimes we had to sleep inside with the roof down (max.5 nights so-far).
      Rain is not really a problem, we had here and there small leaks but it got all sealed.
      The biggest issue in bad weather is that the Defender is still a tiny car and there is not much space even with pop top inside.
      I did winter trips with my brother at -12 degrees C it was a fun adventure. But if it looks like I’ll have constant rain for the next 2 weeks I start driving until the weather gets better 😅

      Hello Christian,
      I just went to the next metal workshop, and asked them to cut two panels of 1,5 or 2mm aluminum. And had it painted by a paintshop. Then I glued it to the car using Sikaflex 227.
      Regards Kai

    Why is the defend so poplar for this kind of trips and not something like a wrangler or gladiator?

    • @spikemd1364
      @spikemd1364 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Because Defenders are awesome! Diesel gives much better range. In Europe, Defenders are much cheaper than a Jeep.

    • @Thebluelandy
      @Thebluelandy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey, Yeah it’s right Defenders are more common in Europe. And they are pretty low tec this means they can be fixed easily with a hammer, this and the good availability of spare parts worldwide makes the car a good base.
      The Defender has also a payload from roughly 1 ton, As far as I know, is the pay load of a wrangler way less, manly cause the axles are not as oversized as in a Defender. Wranglers are probably better offroad but don’t behave aswell on the road, manly because both axle have a panhard rod. If the axle moves up and down, the panhard rod make the axle also move sideways. The Defender has an A-Frame on the rear axle and is there for more stable in roads.
      All this together make the Defender probably the better touring or Overland base.

      Thanks for the replies. Because it seems to be the opposite here in the USA. These older model defenders are extremely expensive.

    • @Thebluelandy
      @Thebluelandy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The reason why Defenders are so expensive in the USA is cause they got banned after the 300tdi model for not having airbags. That makes them rare and therefore expensive. But in USA you have a wider choice of great 4x4s, which are great for touring. I personally like the Tacomas or the 4runners.

      If you want something similar to a Defender in the states, look for Discovery 2 or 3. They are the same underneath as the Defender. 😁

      Hey!! As we bought it 7500€ total (2018) done by XvisionX in Germany. Now with inflation and so I guess is over a 10K€ . But don't have any actual figured to back up.

    Frage zum Lifesaver Kanister. Seid Ihr damit zufrieden gewesen und hat er so funktioniert wie er beschrieben wird. Danke.

    • @Thebluelandy
      @Thebluelandy  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Ja und nein, das Konzept ist super auch die lange Stand Zeit des Filters (unbedingt den 20k L holen) es funktioniert gut. Wenn er weniger als halb voll ist dauert das Füllen von Flaschen etwas länger, aber voll in Ordnung. Was Tierisch nervt ist das er ständig leckt, wenn man die Öffnung mit der Pumpe fest zu macht fängt er immer wieder an zu lecken. Haben das mehrfach bei Lifesaver reklamiert. Die wollen aber das Design des Ventils nicht ändern und das aktuelle Design ist halt einfach schlecht. Ich werde mir daher asap eine eigene Lösung entwerfen. Die ggf dann auch bei uns zu bekommen ist.

    • @Thebluelandy
      @Thebluelandy  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Ja sicher funktioniert es. Wenn der Kanister draußen ist oder man das Leckage Wasser in der Griff bekommt ist es denk ich die beste Lösung am Markt. Die stand Zeiten von den Alp Filtern sind ein Witz dagegen

      @@Thebluelandy Guter Hinweis mit den Alb Filtern. Die hatten wir auch mal in die engere Wahl gezogen. Deren Standzeit wird in Zeit und nicht in Litern angegeben😂. Der Durchfluss soll auch nicht der Hit sein. Wir fahren auch nur einen Defender und haben wenig Platz für Pumpen und Filter.
