    Steve is great! Congrats on winning! That Johnny Cash and Janis Boxset are both pretty cool! Awesome snags! All the best man!

    Nice VCLT from Steve. I’ve never seen that record either. Regarding the inner sleeves, they look like the sleeves I got in a box set (don’t remember which one). You’re right in tossing them in the trash. I think Frank at Channel 33 rpm had a video on the that type of sleeve.

    Hey brother - awesome vclt from Steve. I just watched his latest Sunday Morning Show and he showed that record and it really intrigued me. I bet it's awesome. Kinda crazy about the Janis boxset - especially when forking out that much $$. Hopefully the records play strong and all is well.....all amazing albums of hers for sure!

    All those Janus boxsets came like that. If you clean them and get better inner sleeves they're fine.

    I have some records which have some light marks on them from being stored in PVC sleeves, I have replaced them but anybody got any advice best way to clean them are try to remove the marks?

    Wow, that stinks about the inner sleeves. I wish it would be standard practice to always use poly lined paper sleeves at a minimum.

    • @victorsthought
      @victorsthought 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      minimum is heavy card board sleaves

      Yeah poly-lined paper sleeves would be the 'maximum' lol...

    Glad to hear the albums sounded fine. What a bummer that the inner sleeves were like that though, nothing worse then when companies cheap out.

    these sleeves used by RTI. I have a lot of damaged vinyls too.

    Maybe those Joplin records were packed in Columbia lol. I had the same problem with those sleeves on a Grateful Dead box set! I wet cleaned them/changed inner sleeves, since I do that to new and used records anyway - everything sounded great. Looks like a great pickup on some JJ tunes. This set is $150.00 as of now on Amazon. Cheers.

      Wow that didn't take long for the price to jump back up. Since getting them I have cleaned them and replaced the inners with mofi inners. All is good now. They sound amazing. I'm happy with the set...with the upgraded inners now. 😉😀

    Sorry about your boxed set, man. Time to compose a snotty letter to the seller!

      To the seller?!? You mean the manufacturer of the boxset!

    The crap inner sleeves were probably a cheap polyvinyl chloride (PVC) sleeve which off gas and react to the PVC LP's . If you leave the LPs in these for too long you end up with misted LPs that have a whoosh sound as they play. They can be cleaned but it is hard work. Good choice for inner sleeves are polyvinyl ethylene because they don't off gas or react to the PVC LP's. The MOFI sleeves are poly vinyl ethylene i think. Take care, stay healthy, enjoy the music........

    Ehh. I wouldn’t stress it. It’s just modern production methods. Things always come with poor quality control, dusty, etc. I do understand being pissed when it comes to an expensive box set. Hopefully you cleaned the records and swapped the sleeves and everything is fine. That’s how it usually goes for me.

    Great VCLT. Those inner sleeves can ruin records. I’d wash them ASAP. I’m shocked companies still use them. A nice Janis set, but disappointing too.

      I agree. Luckily they still sound great. Great pressing in cheap plastic😒

      Hi Melinda. Thankfully yes they are ok. So glad I got them out of those sleeves real quick.

      I will let you all know. I did try them out before cleaning them and they sounded great. I think I may have got them out in time.

    I don't know about you, but don't you want to just crap your pants when you see a box set show up in a box THAT BIG!!?? lol. You know it's just been tossed around 1000s times in the mail. I have that Janis set too. It is actually a good set, but those inner sleeves are crap!!! I have also had a few Hendrix lps that came in those sleeves with the "White Powder" on them. Not sure what that crap is.

    • @goldenvinylspin
      @goldenvinylspin  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes indeed crap my pants. You should have seen my face when I picked it up at the post office. I'm playing all of the records now and they sound amazing. 😅
      All I can tell you is that white crap don't taste good....... hahaha don't ask.

    Good thing about Amazon is their return policy. That boxset looks like total crap. Cheap pressing and materials. You look totally bummed out -- no doubt!!! Return it if your not totally happy bud.

    • @goldenvinylspin
      @goldenvinylspin  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pressing sounded great. Just crap inner sleeves. I can live with them. Glad I got them on sale. If I paid full price I may have sent them back. From what I'm learning that boxset all had the same inners. So no since of sending them back if the records are ok. 😉 Music is all that matters.
