Hi Sezetcik, just received my Jubi Edition SKX007 Sharkey and I can confirm your findings. The bezel on mine does not seem to be seating properly but turns okay, there is a slight gap to one side.
@@jlim003 Yes you are right. The dial has the same width as the movement so you can put any nh35/7s26 aftermarket dial on it. The difference between this and an original skx are the bezel size, crystal size and caseback size. Possibly also the crown but I haven't tried to change it yet.
glad you posted this great video.. good information..I actually have a Sharkey 62mas on the way... and I was wondering if it was backwards compatible with the original classic Seiko 62mas? It's my dream watch to own the Seiko 62mas...
Thanks for putting this video together! I just received a Sharkey 007 for my first foray into modding. Going to swap out the Bezel insert and putting on a double domed Crystal. Thanks again Grimwood! You are the man!
Do you know if the dial is compatible? I mean you can put a skx007 dial on the movement and inside the case of the Sharkey or viceversa? Thank you for your video! Have a wonderful Christmas!
I have ordered a Heimdallr SKX with a yellow dial. Looking forward to it's arrival. I have also just ordered a Borealis Portus Cale, what do you think ?
Great thank you for this video. Do you by any chance know if the Sharkey/ Heimdallr 6309 case-back and case-back gasket is compatible with the Seiko SRP reissued "Turtle"series ones? I ask because the Sharkey/ Heimdallr 6309 despite the name is actually a copy of the SRP Turtle, and I am busy with a mod involving the bronze Sharkey case, a NE15 movement and the dial and handset from a SRP 775. Interestingly the crystal and gasket appear to be compatible at 32mm but the chapter ring from the Seiko SRP 775 is not compatible and the case-back gasket seems to be too small for the Sharkey. Confusing indeed! I'd like to confirm compatibility before ordering the case-back from CT or one of the other aftermarket Seiko suppliers if possible.
This is the nh36 movement. Wouldnt it reason that the 7s26 movement crown and stem wouldnt be backwards compatible? Ive done the swap on a 007 with the nh movement, and had to get a new crown. Fantastic video! Thank you for putting it together.
The main problem is the stem tube and the crown. The ID of the stem tube is smaller and the seals for the crown have a different layout to the original SKX. You have one within the stem tube to seal against the crown tube and one in the crown thread. The Seiko SKX just has one on the crown stem it's self. So in reality the Heimdallr set up is yet again better the SKX one.
I just purchased a new model and love it. I want to replace the dial and hands. Do you know if an SKX007 chapter ring will be compatible with the new model?
Thanks for sharing good to know about compatibility of the parts. Very thorough video. Now I know what I am doing with the skx parts I have laying around. Was gonna eBay and probably lose money but I have a nice bezel, ceramic insert and domed crystal I can throw on it.
Really interested to learn if there are any older Sharkey SKX007 versions still on sale - i.e the ones that can be easily modded. Never modded a watch before and was looking forward to having a go with one of these - but sadly it seems I am a few months too late to grab one of the earlier versions.
@@GrimwoodWatchModding Cool. Is there any way to tell which version I am buying from the specs or is it a bit of of a lottery now? The SKX Hulks seem to be out of stock now
I learned the hard way today before seeing this video that my new red S signed SKX crown mod ordered on eBay is too big to fit into the Heimdallr crown hole on the case so will not fit or screw down. Since this was my 1st attempt at replacing a crown and stem I thought I didn't cut the stem enough but after viewing the original crown I figured it out quick.
Excellent video, I was wondering with the new Seiko 5. Do you think swapping the dial and putting into sharkey case would work. Does the sharkey does the case 200m water resistance . Only thought of this some of the Seiko dials look pretty cool. Since they (Seiko 5) are only 100m. what do you think.
Phyiscally yes it would, you should be able to just transplant the the insides of the Seiko 5 into a Sharkey SKX easily. Peronsally if i was to get a Seiko 5 (would be the blacked out version) before i even put it on i would be transplanting everything into a 200m case. Be it a Sharkey, crystaltimes or any other SKX style screw down case. You would have to use the Sharkey crown with that case but it would go straight into the 4r36 movement. Just needs to sharkey logo polishing off if it's not IP black coated :)

I know the dial will have to nicked and I’d have to use dial dots on the movement to stick the dial too, any thoughts I’d appreciate your input, thanks
I found the bezel on the heimdallr to be slightly smaller than the bezel on the SKX. I swapped the bezels around on my two watches, and the SKX bezel can be pulled of the heimdallr with my fingers. Meanwhile I still haven't managed to get the heimdallr bezel off of the skx, it is stuck on there tightly.
That’s a Weird one, didn’t have that issue with the parts on my watch. Also done a far few mods on other Heimdallr SKX cases and they are perfect fit. Only thing I can think is differences in batch tolerances. I have a few builds coming up so will keep an eye on this.
@@GrimwoodWatchModding Did you swap the bezel gasket when you installed the seiko bezel on the heimdallr? I kept the seiko bezel gasket with the seiko bezel, and the Heimdallr bezel gasket with the Heimdallr bezel. @@storm3016 There customer service is great, i have talked to them a couple of times and also been helpful. I'm sure you won't be disappointed with the watch. Please do get back with your thoughts as well :)
Well, it has arrived :) Frankly I couldn't be happier for the 120 euros I paid including shipping. There are a few machine-marks on the back of the case near the lugs and if you look really close you can see an ever so slight misalignment of the bezel, but otherwise it is perfect except for the bracelet. It does look and feel pretty nice for this price-range, but the grooves in the screw-heads are so shallow that there's no way I'll ever get a screwdriver in there so I can't size it up properly. I'll take it to my local watchmaker when I have time just for the fun of it, but I think I already know how he'll react. That's not really a problem for me though, as I usually prefer a nice leather strap anyways. But the bracelet does look nice enough that I was willing to try it out if I could. Curious to see how accurate it is but I already know this is a keeper. Cheers!
Will the Long island sapphire bezel inserts fit this? I just bought a Heimdallr SKX007 through greymarket supplier on eBay, and I want to change the bezel for one with lumed numbers so it matches my Vostok Amphibia bezel.
@@williamrizzo1285 That is a question, if you have one of the 3 gasket crowns and remove the stem ones you still have the one in the crown. I have a build coming up so will have to give it a go :)
In the SKX sharkey i had these weren't glued down, the locating pin was a tight fit however but meant the chapter ring did always line up. If you can't get it out i would sugguest getting a pin tool and very lightly tapping the back end of the chapter ring near the locating pin.
Heimdallr has changed the bezels on their new batches, it doesn't use the same bezel spring anymore, instead it uses a wire spring (don't know the technical terms), so it doesn't work with SKX bezels anymore.
Thats a bit of a pain, Looks like the new stock hasn't gone through my hands yet. Is a shame if this is the case and they have totally gone that route. But i guess it is all to do with cost cutting. Will need to pop the bezel off my bronze SKX (latest one bought) and see if thats a wire clicker or not. Thanks for the info mate :)
@@GrimwoodWatchModding the bronze has the wire clicker as well. They also no longer sign the crowns. It seems they cut cost in places to add the ceramic insert and the upgraded bracelet (the new Jubilee has solid end links and a milled clasp). One other thing I've noticed is both my bronze and new batch steel watch have their crystal slightly wonky. It's mostly flush with the bezel, but around 11 o'clock on the watch the crystal sticks out slightly. Which makes me think they may have made other changes to the case, resulting in the tolerances around the crystal to be a bit tighter.
@@OmairArif looks like I'm going to have to do a follow video on this topic covering these points. Will need to order a new skx homage when I get some free cash 👍
@@GrimwoodWatchModding Just over the holiday, I received my new sharkey and seems as if a LOT has changed. I purchased a series of mod parts for an skx007, including dial, hands, bezel, bezel insert, chapter ring. Basically, everything that was supposed to fit into and skx007 to turn the sharkey into a totally custom watch. So, here's what I experienced. Dial fit onto the NH36A movement no problem. I went with a date only dial as I've read you would need to switch day wheel from a 7S26 movement if using a day and date window dial. Fit well on the movement after cutting off the appropriate dial posts. The dial came with two different post options. Chapter ring did not fit well. There's space (diameter of the case seemed to be a tad larger than that of the chapter ring for an SKX007) and there's no way for it to stay put, like with a notch in the case so that was an issue. Guess I could have used adhesive but again, the case diameter felt slightly larger. I did ensure the gasket was placed correctly. As mentioned, bezel has a wire spring so the nice knurled edge bezel I bought was not going to work. I ended up placing back on the stock bezel and in doing so, the "clicking" was gone. I must have damaged something because it was a smooth spin after putting it back on. It was NOT easy getting that wire spring bezel off at all, even with bezel popper palm tool I'm not sure what happened here. I then tried to mount the bezel insert into the sharkey bezel and that ALSO did not fit into the sharkey bezel. There is a significant raised area on the inside of the bezel insert as it must be touching the edge of the sapphire or the bezel itself was just too different. I actually tried to give it a bit of a light press with my crystal press but it still looks terrible. Finally, I purchased a super dome blue AR coat sapphire crystal and after numerous tries, it would just not press in. No matter what I did or how hard I pushed. And I have a very good precision press. As Omair pointed out, crown is flat, no sign/symbol or etching. Overall, was really excited to have this as a solution to mod into a custom watch for half the price of an skx007 but with my experience, the new sharkey has changed quite significantly. Guess you really do get what you pay for.
@@tonyvizioli9189 I hear your pain and am doing a follow up video on this subject. Bought two SKX homages, a hulk and also the new jubilee, the hulk must have been old stock because i had no issue installing the crystal or bezel insert, also took the bezel off and everything was good. All like the standard SKX. However the Jubilee which was meant for a build, i came across them same issues as yourself. The customer has take the watch at cost however and i'm on doing the build using crystaltimes case. After this and the drop in quality Heimdallr have done down in my books, just wish they kept the SKX line as they first designed it.
thanks so much. just ordered some parts for my hamdallr classic-turtle, think the bezel-insert should fit. In the video it looks like you only have this gap at the buttom so glueing it in with an 'all around gap' it should be lesse visible...lets see.
No problem at all :). I can't comment on the Turtle bezel however if you do centre the bezel insert if there is a gap it would be a lot less noticeable.
@@GrimwoodWatchModding I just measured the insert (still in the bezel, so not 100% accurate) but I think it should fit almost perfectly...well I will find out once the parts arrive ;)
Great brand Heimdallr. I have the submariner homage and it is astonishing how much it is similar to a Rolex submariner. Sapphire chrystal, ceramic bezel insert, Swiss ETA 2824 28.800 bph movement, 300m water resistance, 316L steel which is just as fine as 904L steel..all for $340. A fantastic deal if you ask me.
You can't go wrong with there pricing. If you were looking at a Swiss made watch with an ETA 2824 in it you would be looking close if not over 4 figures.
Thanks for doing this. Cool video, but it's actually an 89% compatibility rate as 8 out of 9 parts were compatible, not quite 95%. And if we have to discount the strap too because without the Fat Boy spring bars, an OEM bracelet or many aftermarket bracelets, like Strapcode, won't fit properly on the Sharkey. This drops compatibility down to 78%. And what if you took an aftermarket triple gasket crown and removed the o-rings from the stem but left the o-ring that's in the crown? Would the stem fit and would the crown seal properly against the crown tube just like the Sharkey is designed to do? That might raise compatibility substantially.
I’ll send you the two watches so if you can transplant the Seiko skx dial ,hands and bezel everything else the movement case etc of the bronze Heimdallr I’ll send you both watches brand new
Just do it yourself its not hard. You literally need a $2 rubber ball tool to open your caseback and nothing else. Just one lever on the movement to push and the crown stem comes out. The whole movement dail and hands assembly comes right out after that.

In theory yes but i have not tried one so can't say 100%.
I'm sold on these watches. I'm going to check with some local machinists about opening the crown tube to accept the o-ring crown.
Was something i was looking into, was also thinking of just changing the stem tube but need to look into how much work it is.
@@GrimwoodWatchModding I wonder if the crown stem would fit without the rubber gasket o-ring seal on the skx?
@@williamrizzo1285 That is a question, if you have one of the 3 gasket crowns and remove the stem ones you still have the one in the crown. I have a build coming up so will have to give it a go :)
I'm having serious trouble removing the chapter ring from the Sharkey and I'm now wondering if they had in fact glued it down
In the SKX sharkey i had these weren't glued down, the locating pin was a tight fit however but meant the chapter ring did always line up.
What size is the crystal gasket ???
Very useful and well done video. Thanks bro!
No problem at all mate. Please you found it helpful :)
Outstanding video. Thanks.
Hey man. This also apply to sharkey skx green hulk? Thanks
Yes it does, only difference is this is this is running a NH35 and has green parts :)
How the hell did you get the heimdallr case back off?
Used a 3 jaw tool and a rubber jawed vice. If i'm honest the vice isn't required but acts t keep thing steady :)
Interesting! Thanks man.
So does that mean fitted end-links on a bracelet are a no go because of the Seiko fat springbars ?
I would have to try that, however i have another set of fat spring bars which must have had smaller pins in the end. These seemed to work.
@@GrimwoodWatchModding Have you tried the strapcode bracelet on heimdallr yet?
@@MrMrSvahn Not a Strapcode, had it on a Seiko original and worked fine. I do have a client build coming up with one of these so will try it then :)
Thank you for information. I found this video too late..
Thx so much for this vid!
Thank brother.. saves me alot of effort. Bless you
Please it help you out :)
excellent😀 thanks for that
Does anybody know if the heimdallr watch cases from aliexpress will fit skx mod parts like the sharkey shown in this video?
I don't think they are, been told from the company that these are not from them
Awesome information, thanks! (I would have paid you for that, lol) Yes, impressive by the Sharky indeed.
Dantastic comparison! Thank you so much :)
That might raise compatibility substantially.
very helpfull thanks
Thanks Dave chua
I’ll send you the two watches so if you can transplant the Seiko skx dial ,hands and bezel everything else the movement case etc of the bronze Heimdallr I’ll send you both watches brand new
Just do it yourself its not hard. You literally need a $2 rubber ball tool to open your caseback and nothing else.
Just one lever on the movement to push and the crown stem comes out. The whole movement dail and hands assembly comes right out after that.
Mint mate👍
Super, thanks!
That is if I can find a link to your buisness
The more i watch these Heimdallr vids the more i cant wait to get my Sharky 6105!
I have had my hands on a sharkey 6105 and it's a lovely watch. I have a video on it which i will get up when i have time :)
Great choice of watch the 6105 :)
Do this for the Sharkey SUbbie.
If i can get my hands on one will do just that. Need to get funds together however :)
@@GrimwoodWatchModding That is an important consideration. Very GOOD review.
