I prefer the Chinese characters.. sort of more rare. But, more importantly, they make more sense. You just count 1 through 6 from Monday to Saturday. and, Sunday is the word Sun which makes sense. Same as Kanji Sunday. BUT, the Kanji words, when translated, don't make any sense to me... Off the top of my head, in no particular order, they are : Earth, Fire, Water, Wood, Moon,.. and I forget the last one. Idk, I can't relate those words to days of the week.. just have to memorize without intuitive correlation.. at least not in my mind. That's why Chinese makes more easier sense.. just Sun and 1 through 6. Anyways.. was curious about modding a Heimdahllr a while back. Glad I didn't as it seems like there are enough detail differences that wouldn't make modding a number of key parts easy, if not possible. I suspect going with Long Island Watch SKX is a better way to go as they already have good upgrades and I believe Marc made them to work with OEM and aftermarket Seiko parts.
Mine just arrived. It's mind blowing!!! Best Chinese watch I've ever had. First Chinese watch with aligned bezel. The dial is beautiful and the sapphire crystal makes the edge of the dial look magnified, giving it a great appeal. I think it's my fav watch. I have Tissot, Oris, gshock, Armand Nicolet, Pagani Design and San Martín and this one is on par with the Tissot... I recommend it 100%
I have several divers, but no white dial. I was wavering back and forth between this and King Turtle. I know there is a vast difference between the two as afar as price, but it was more of a value proposition issue than a price issue. I opted for the Heimdallr because I don't own one and I already have two Samurais. Should be here next week. Great video, Rob! Thanks! 😉👍
Mine is aligned 100% first Chinese watch with aligned bezel. Got a couple of Pagani Design and San Martín and the bezel aren't aligned on those .. Edit: I did ask the AliExpress seller to do a QC and send me a watch with aligned bezel and lower price on the custom papers, he put 30 dollars hahaha
I bought the red Heimdallr about 4 weeks ago. I live in Australia & got mine through AliExpress & delivery was quite prompt! Owning several SKX this is a great watch, accurate, brilliant lume & great to wear! Also has very heavy duty spring bars! Good review Rob!👍🏻🍻🇦🇺
The misaligned bezel is the official Certificate of Authenticity for the Seiko brand and it seems like Heimdallr is following Seiko's specs to the letter. Although Heimdallr isn't overinflating their prices. (No disrespect to Seiko ). Lol.
Looks like a pretty viable homage to the SKX. They definitely have some brand awareness for quality as part of their reputation. That’s a good start, right?!
The problem I ran into with Ron was if you ask him about a particular watch and it’s bezel alignment for example he will just kick back a generic email stating these are cheaper watches and not Rolex and not to expect perfection. This is true but his level of intimate customer service on his stock is not good. It made me wonder how good service would be AFTER the sale?
Fellow white dial lover. Would buy in a heartbeat if there was a tiny bit of color (red, yellow, orange) at the tip of the second hand. Too tough to pick up.
I have a couple of these from the same ebay seller. He seems to be a solid guy and he was a pleasure to work with. Both of my "Sharkey" watches (an all-lume dial and a sunburst blue dial) came on jubilee bracelets and both watches are excellent and have been trouble free for me.
I have this Sharky SKX on the Jubilee bracelet also. Very comfortable and does look great. I keep it in my wearing rotation quite a bit. Excellent watch for the money.
I have a quiet a few heimdallr watches mostly modded. 4 tunas including the 1000m tuna. I started with their bronze MM300 and most recently one of the monsters they make. I really think heimdallr makes good stuff. Yea they have some quirks especially if you mod them but they also stand just fine on their own. Out of my six I think four have also come from that same seller on ebay. So I'm a fan for sure lol
Going to get a Heimdallr monster soon. Like most Chinese homage watches I've acquired, the quality and value is virtually impossible for the Japanese brands to match
I have pds and San Martín. Also got an orient mako 2. The mako plastic glass and the aluminium bezel are all scratched. My Chinese watches are as new, with sapphire and ceramic bezels... I like my mako but I daily drive the Chinese ones. I even got an Oris, Tissot, gshock, Armand Nicolet... I just seem to love my Chinese watches.
Ron is awesome. He is the sole USA authorized distributor for Heimdallr. I've bought a couple different models from him - - an SKX011 version & the Marine Master 300m Kermit version w/the Seagull ST2130 Automatic Movement (25 Jewels, 28'800 BPH). If you're willing to wait (not sure how long), you can get this with a Sellita movement for about a $100 more. @RandomRob - If you're interested; DM me on IG and I'll send you the Kermit to review. Love them both. Hate to say it but, overall quality goes to Heimdallr...at least for the SKX version. Never experienced a Seiko Marine Master so, cannot give an opinion.
i really like this watch, but that white seconds hand is the only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger, seems like it would be hard to read against a white background
FYI the alternate day text is Chinese characters (Kanji is based on Chinese characters, but the days of the week are counted differently in Japanese.)

i literally just bought this one yesterday and now a video from Rob...awesome
I'd take this over the SKX myself. Not tried one, but cheap enough to give a go. Like the logo too. Cheers mate 👍🏻👍🏻
Me too why not it has better moviment than some skx, has a safire cristal, better braclet for much less money

Bezel insert looks aligned to me 🤷♂️
I find the regular SKX’s on bracelet to wear top heavy also - I’ve had 2 of them.
Mine is aligned 100% first Chinese watch with aligned bezel. Got a couple of Pagani Design and San Martín and the bezel aren't aligned on those ..

Great review. Check that lume 5 couple of hours later. The blue will still be strong, the Seiko will be almost done.

Do you still have this watch?Do you still like it?

I have a Heimdallr “Captain Willard” homage. Very well built.
Looks like a pretty viable homage to the SKX. They definitely have some brand awareness for quality as part of their reputation. That’s a good start, right?!

Agree. Hard to believe basic craftsmanship would add much to the price.
"I barely know English.".- Rob, May 2021.
Fellow white dial lover.
Would buy in a heartbeat if there was a tiny bit of color (red, yellow, orange) at the tip of the second hand. Too tough to pick up.
I wish more companies did their indices similar to something like this I personally hate the look of the dots on dive watches
Agree 100% 👍🏻
Cool watch! Love how they went with the blue lume for the white dial watch, great combo.

Do you still have them?Do they still work well?
@renehernandez6905 Actually, yes. I wear them pretty regularly and they haven't given me ant trouble at all.
I picked up the steeldive version. Lumed ceramic bezel, sapphire crystal, nh36 and then put a samurai seiko dial in it. Looks pretty good 👍
Steedive bracelet is poor though is t it
This watch on Jubilee looks spectacular. I own one of them and it's great.
I have this Sharky SKX on the Jubilee bracelet also. Very comfortable and does look great. I keep it in my wearing rotation quite a bit. Excellent watch for the money.
Like it more than the skx to be honest.
To me it looks to line up 110%. Where is it not aligned?

Seems like decent value! Should be called the great white!
Beautiful size. I'm starting to be over the 44mms. 42 is the new 44.
Do aftermarket six parts fit these?
Call it The Great White!
The watch that Seiko should have made at a great price!
i really like this watch, but that white seconds hand is the only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger, seems like it would be hard to read against a white background
Looks really nice. It surprises me that Seiko hasn't released a white dial on their 5KX line.
Nice watch I am thinking of getting 1 thanks Rob .
Shar-kx! I like it!!!!
Great looking watch
Call it what Hamdallr calls it.
Heimdallr holla!!!
Its a half way seiko with a seiko dna and this is the homage that the seiko should have done.
Seems like good value
More of Seiko Monster
Store is not active anymore
Interesting
OK this is cool af.
