I’m Italian and I visited ALL the Amalfi Coast in 4 days, I didn’t spend over 500€. Shelby made it a luxury vacation and I’m happy for her, but you can get your hotel room in Napoli or Salerno and then take the train or the bus to each little city on the coast. Get street food and go to the little public beaches! 🇮🇹❤️ (Maybe book your hotel a couple month in advance)

I'm from Brazil and we normally order any way we want with our menus here, there is no order and we can pretty much share every course. xxx thanks
My family and I went last week and we stayed in Salerno and took the ferries to Positano and Amalfi. Really beautiful place for sure! I believe Salerno is a lot cheaper than those other towns and it’s easy to get to from Naples via train. You also get easy access to other tourist sites like Pompeii.
I'm Italian and I would never spend do much money to visit Amalfi coast! I'm not referring to flight, of course. Hundreds of dollars for beach clubs? That's a big no no!

I very much enjoyed this video! I definitely would love more videos like this of traveling to different places and breaking down costs and different tips, etc! Hopefully planning a trip to Italy soon and I feel like this was super honest and helpful!
A few words from European: Italy has very well developed train connections. Trains are cheap and fast. Take advantage of it to save money You don't have to fly to Naples, it will be probably cheaper to fly to Milan and it has the best links by trains everywhere in Italy. Don't stay near Positano or Capri, these are definitely the poshest and expensive locations - everything is super overpriced in there and super crowded, stay somewhere around, take local train to visit for a day or so (of course Capri needs a boat), even more recommend you to book multiple locations and move after few days (unless you really just want to chill)
Love Positano and the Amalfi Coast! I would just add that going in the fall or shoulder season is an option. Less crowded and less expensive, but depending on the weather, you might not have any beach days. It would be more for sightseeing, boating, food & culture, etc.
I was at that beach you showed at the beginning when there was nothing. I was the only tourist and together with my Italian girlfriend. Heck, we slept on the beach, built up our own tent. This was like 200 years ago.... yeah, I am that old. Wow, it really has changed to the max.
You can totally do it on the cheap! I did as a uni student. Stayed in hostels, just took the bus from Naples, public transport around Naples city itself, and buses between the towns on the coast. You can find cheaper places to eat away from the super touristy restaurants too :)
thanks for this advice!!! Im visiting soon, definitely not visiting for joining beach clubs and fancy restaurants. I just want to take a walk there, watch the mountains, enjoy the environment, take a run. what are the places that are cheaper to eat? do they have markets, or super markets?
@@BB-vo6on yes that’s what I did too! There are markets and supermarkets in bigger towns and cities, but you can always find small bakeries and the like that are affordable (that goes for most places in Europe). I would recommend trying the Lorca pizza cause it’s amazing, and if you do takeaway from just a little place rather than a nice restaurant it will be much cheaper. Also do not miss visiting Pompeii! That’s the one place I would spend money on an entrance fee, it’s worth seeing.
We went here on our honeymoon. We ended up making Naples our hub where we stayed. Took the train to Sorrento and then took a bus to Amalfi Coast. You really just need a day or two max to see everything there. Staying in naples gives you more options to see other things such as, pompeii, sorrento and naples.
Would love to see video of you going to Lake Como or Taoromina, Sicily...this was absolutely gorgeous....too many stairs for me but grateful for the travel tips ❤
I LOVED seeing you visit my favorite place, the Amalfi Coast!! Next time you should try the path of the gods hike from Bomerano to Nocelle! And also behind Amalfi town is the Valley of the Mills, a beautiful gorgeous walk thru ancient forests and ruined medieval paper mills!
My BFF and I went to Naples a couple of years ago and WOW if you do not like traffic, smog or stairs do not go there! I have bad knees and we had trouble getting a taxi to pick us up. I eventually left our airbnb for a western style resort south of the city that was on flatter land.
I stayed in Minori. Much less crowds and reasonable pricing of Condo and places to eat. Will go back again in 2025 summer. Went to all the places you mentioned, you missed Ravello. Flew into Naples, ride service arranged by condo owner to Minori from Naples airport the only way to go. Took water taxi to Positano, Amalfi and Capri from Minori, but in the future will use the public bus system when possible so much cheaper. Maiori has the biggest and best beach on the Amalfi coast, was a short distance from Minori. In the summer both Positano and Amalfi are very crowded try to stay in the smaller towns nearby.
Echo how great the path to the Gods is. You can see how people farm in this part of the world. Ravello is beautiful along with Amalfi and Sorrento. In Capri we hiked to a Roman ruin which was great. It really is a gorgeous coast to explore!
We went to Positano last September and stayed at Le Sirenuse. Shelby, I highly recommend you stay there next time in Positano. You will be serenaded in their 5-star restaurant, probably the best in Amalfi Coast. Amalfi beach sand is ugly, but the water is beautiful. Capri is fabulous and you can see most of it in a day. Another nice activity in Positano is a short drive to Ravello. Dine at Restaurant Belvedere for a fabulous experience. If you can’t walk up/down at least 6 flights of stairs, don’t go to Amalfi because stairs are everywhere. Bring lots of money because the only bargain we discovered is great pizza.
The world is very big. There are so many beautiful places in the world and This is one of them. This place is really beautiful, I'd like to go there someday. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge with us, You're so clever, Have a great day.
I enjoyed staying in Sorento. I don’t know if it is cheaper there or the same. And then I had a boat ride to Capri. Hi, I have been watching videos about Amalfi coast, since we went there yesterday and we joined a group tour from Rome. Can you imagine we paid only 100 euros each, from Rome to Sorrento by bus, then a private boat that took us to Positano, Amalfi then back to Sorrento and finally back to Rome. we are so happy we enjoyed at a cheaper price except there was less time to swim however we were able to see all the highlights of these 3 islands - Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi!
I was just in the Amalfi coast as well! I felt like all the information you gave was super accurate, however, it’s definitely possible to do it much cheaper. I definitely had no idea about how rocky the beaches were! And I knew there was gonna be a lot of steps, but I don’t think I was as prepared as I should’ve been 😂
Shelby, you missed a few amazing beaches! Fiordo di Furore is about a 15 minute bus ride east of Praiano, on the way to Amalfi town. And the beach at Nerano is breathtaking! Nerano is south of Sorrento and west of Positano.
I went to Amalfi cost, last summer and stay in town call Sorrento, very easy acess to, positano capri, Amalfi and from the Airport. My flight was from Lisbon to Napolis from there I took a bus 5 € to Sorrento.
Shelby, this was incredible in what you shared today. I love how you went into detail and what to make sure to go for and what to miss. I hope you do more of these kinds of vlogs and go to other areas. As in Amsterdam, London, Paris and parts unknown. Just terrific!!!
I just came back from 2 weeks in Italy. Decided against Amalfi, seems beautiful but just too stressful getting around and the crowds. Discovered Sirmione in Lake Garda which was fabulous and so much more relaxing. Maybe you’re better off going to places you never heard of?
I think it would be interesting to videos of places within the US and outside the country, that you can travel to for about 4 days for less than 2000 dollars, we all want to get away and relax but within the confides of the terrible economy
Someone that went to all world cities for their work liked Oslo, Norway the most, safer nicer and cleaner. One guy at work says he preferred Switzerland and New Zealand for week long vacations, however they are expensive compared to somewhere more of a dump with more pollution and homeless people.
WOW, this makes me have a new appreciation for the epic Italy road trip my family took when I was in my 20s and my parents paid. I can’t imagine spending this much. I actually preferred Florence and Rome to Amalfi because for me the magic of Italy is more in the art and architecture than the beaches. Food was great everywhere but I was not a fan of the limoncello that is super popular in Amalfi. I’d rather go somewhere tropical for a beach vacation and stick to the cultural stuff in Italy. Beaches in Hawaii are so much better imo and it’s cheaper to get there.
i would also recommend packing light because of the uneven (cobblestone) streets and amount of up/down stairs you're walking! the path of the gods hike is also TOTALLY worth it
I try to watch these vacations and think of the common person. 60% of people make less than 60k a year, so I'd say this is the top end of what your average person would do? This would be a nice once a year vacation for a couple in that income bracket if both people worked. Solo on that income I may go somewhere else that doesn't need the flight, or if you could get a deal on the flight maybe make it work.
The cheapest way to do it would be save up airline points to get the flight for free, and a couple splitting a 3 star hotel in Praiano wouldn’t be too bad
If you're flying from the east coast instead of west coast, the flight is closer to $500 (JFK/LGA). which takes a good $1000 out. Same about getting the 2bd instead of a 1 bed (assuming it's a couple). There's ways to make this more "affordable", but honnestly, travel as a whole isn't affordable more than once every 2 years if you aren't making above median household income (without kids) in your area. North Florida, Carolinas, and Virginia are popular beach towns for a reason! Jump in a car (that you already pay for), drive for a day, and you can enjoy a vacation by a nice beach for a "reasonable" fee.
I've been to Europe probably 30-40 times, including 4 times in Italy, and I've never heard of Amalfi Coast. I suppose it became popular in the last 5-10 years thanks to social media.
I find it so weird that Americans call main courses entrees! In Australia an entree is an appetiser, after all entree means 'enter' to the meal in French.
It’s so expensive in Positano, Amalfi, wonder how local people can afford to live there?. Wandering on the raining day, indigenous people walking up on the dark narrow staircase every day for groceries. Life is tough but they adapted it for thousand of years.
Any insight to why you guys didn’t rent a car? I watched your vlog and looked like you were back and forth between towns a lot and now watching this transportation was a big chunk of budget - excluding the flight obviously. Not judging just genuinely curious if that’s not a good option in this area.
Those crowds are a huge no for me. Also the place doesn''t even look that cute. Anywhere that is super popular is never as cool as it looks online (see: Lisbon). Also you definitely spent waaaaaay more than you need to in Europe. America has you thinking this is normal spending, those of us in UK/England this is crazy spending. $3500 for a week accom? That's wild, and it wasn't even a luxury place!
Germany with a car or from Munich or Stuttgart 2hrs. and rent a car on the airport.I look for a flight to Naples we say NEAPEL costs from Stuttgart 54,99 Euro with Eurowings thats way more cheaper than from LA.When i flight from Munich to Los Angeles and back to Munich are 1342 Euro and when you flight only to LA without back to Munich than is the price more exactly 1622 Euro find the issue.
I've been watching you for the last 100 years.... Love your content but how are you everywhere all the time 😂 - Yeah I know about the twins thing But you wouldn't dare - would you 😉

Agreed it would be nice if they were spaced out more!
amazing video i have been here its so good
You should visit Greece next!
when you say private car do you mean uber. or do they not have uber over there?
how did it compare to your trip to Croatia???
Come to Rome next time! I'll show you around (:
I with my frends have been at Amalfi and Neapoli for a week and we paid 650$ for everything total. (All trip recorded on my channel but in Polish)
Is this taken in Italy Travel, Shelby?
Where is the beach at 3:20? :)
Thank you for doing this video! I always wanted to know how much all of this would cost if I went :)
It’s so expensive in Positano, Amalfi, wonder how local people can afford to live there?. Wandering on the raining day, indigenous people walking up on the dark narrow staircase every day for groceries. Life is tough but they adapted it for thousand of years.
Would you ever go to Hawaii one of the Islands
I wouldn't really mind cause sitting and sunbathing on a packed beach is not my idea of fun!
thank you sister
What was the water temp?
I want to see you do a video like this but with Japan !!
Any insight to why you guys didn’t rent a car? I watched your vlog and looked like you were back and forth between towns a lot and now watching this transportation was a big chunk of budget - excluding the flight obviously. Not judging just genuinely curious if that’s not a good option in this area.
!!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Because her and her friends can’t drive on the otherside of the bloody road that’s why lol
@@Crystal-rk9ygin Italy, they drive on the right side. Same as the US
You have to pay to park it each night at the rental, and the roads are really stressful to drive on - I preferred to not deal with that!
Looks so nice! How much can you write off?
!!!!!!! 🤣🤣
Bingo
Anyone can advise on car rental when visiting the Amalfi coast , estimate on cost per day , and pros and cons ?
I don’t think it’s recommended due to terrain, traffic, lack of parking.
Dream About Going To Amalfi. Thank 😊 You For 😘 Outstanding Video.❤🎉😅😊
You moved to LA?! 🥳
I see a tax write off on this, Shelby.
@@Jeroen74!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Mr sensible shoes you are
Hi shelby need thumbnail designer at cheap rates?
You said you wouldn’t recommend the beach club but then go on to say it was one of your favorite things 🤣
Did you eat some cold pasta? Cold pasta is so good. YUMMY!!!
!!!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. You that broke you gotta eat cold food ??
@@Crystal-rk9yg Are you that ignorant? They actually make cold pasta. You never heard of it. Are you living under a rock?
Those crowds are a huge no for me. Also the place doesn''t even look that cute. Anywhere that is super popular is never as cool as it looks online (see: Lisbon). Also you definitely spent waaaaaay more than you need to in Europe. America has you thinking this is normal spending, those of us in UK/England this is crazy spending. $3500 for a week accom? That's wild, and it wasn't even a luxury place!
most beautiful part of italy Amalfi coast, cheaper if your travelling from europe
Germany with a car or from Munich or Stuttgart 2hrs. and rent a car on the airport.I look for a flight to Naples we say NEAPEL costs from Stuttgart 54,99 Euro with Eurowings thats way more cheaper than from LA.When i flight from Munich to Los Angeles and back to Munich are 1342 Euro and when you flight only to LA without back to Munich than is the price more exactly 1622 Euro find the issue.
i don‘t get the hype. go anywhere else in italy and it‘s gonna be cheaper than the amalfi coast.
I've been watching you for the last 100 years.... Love your content but how are you everywhere all the time 😂
- Yeah I know about the twins thing
But you wouldn't dare - would you 😉
So beautiful...When I went to Capri we went into the Blue Grotto, OMG what an experience. Next time do not miss it, you will love it.
