And it is AOTY. I was lucky to not hear a thing until the album released. Album is everything you'd ever wanted from an Opeth album. Fuck me it's good. ❤
15 albums I think? Mikael is like "I listen to a lot of music" - yeah dude, we all do. He sold his soul to be able to come up with what he has over a quarter century. That's the only explanation.
I love that you guys went straight into the reaction, no long intro. Amazing song and I'm glad to see others like it too, im so stoked for the album release
This is shaping up to be a really good album. Guess you probably know about the new Spiritbox song and new Linkin Park, plus Jinjer is dropping a new song Tuesday too. So much good new music this year
You have to react to S5 now that the album is out! I mean, the whole freaking album is one banger after another so its hard to single any one song out! You should just react to the whole album. I PROMISE, you will be floored.
Loads of fans or not fans that are commenting these two singles talk about prog like being something obvious as adding salt and pepper to a steak. And it's clearly not. There's a mind structure first of all and it's mainly in the composers' mind, their chemistry and their ability to convey all the ideas. Plus there's a concept that needs to be delivered and it's another layer of complexity to add. And we can go on and on talking about how to structure such complex songs, their arrangements and how they connect with lyrics. We are so lucky to have Opeth delivering all of this in such a glorious way and I don't get why people always want the same stuff over and over when you can listen to such incredible musicians.
these are def growers for me..... i still prefere the structure of the first single.... this one by far has the technicality.... it seems they have become more technical and heavy in their proggy years... but i feel the song writing is below par of Opeth's standards. but taking note those standards were set so amazingly high with their pre Heritag albums....it's just unrealistic to expect anything better...lol But that said.. Opeth is still my #1 favorite band and metal band and Mikael still earns my respect, really diggin' his new efforts into bringing lows to his cleans, gives it a needed spooky night at the haunted opera vibe, which blends perfectly with the theme set lyrics and tone!
This one isn't as heavy as the first single, but I was moving the whole time. Doesn't need to be heavy. Spiritbox just dropped a heavy track, but it didn't stick with me at all. I need variety and surprise, I guess, and Opeth always brings that.
I love your reactions to opeth. This song has no growls, but the guitar and drumming work is outstanding good. Hope you react to the whole album when it's out.
It’s good stuff but I still miss those beautiful acoustic sections that would smooth the soul. Those sections seems to have been replaced with these quirky keyboard parts. I can dig it but it doesn’t have the same emotional effect that I get listening to the classic songs. I’m sure it will become more appealing with more listens but that is just my initial impressions of the new material…
I'm in the minority here I think, but this has me worried for the new album. Opeth's older sound wasn't just about growls. It was about the genre. The hyper focused prog and jazz elements were never my catching point. It was the dark sad man hauntish blues mixed with the metal they were doing. They had a vibe you just couldn't get anywhere else. That is why Damnation was so widely accepted even without the heaviness. It focused on the hauntingly melancholic dark blues. I get Mikael's over the genre they reigned kings in, so I will always listen to what they produce, because even with the later records, you still catch glimpses of their trademark sound. Maybe I am not in the minority, but it feels that way :( Summary - Opeth pre Heritage - Blues over Jazz - Croony and prettier cleans, Opeth post Heritage - Jazz over Blues - 80's power rock vibrato style cleans
More growls less synth/ keys in my useless opinion. Thanks guys ! Its been a while since I've checked in so it looks like I have a good bit of content to sift through and catch up. Have y'all checked out any new NeObliviscaris? Later friends.
This song is a freaking masterpiece! You should do a full album reaction when the album comes out! This will easily be album of the year.
Yeah, what are you waiting for, D Music Life?
And it is AOTY. I was lucky to not hear a thing until the album released. Album is everything you'd ever wanted from an Opeth album. Fuck me it's good. ❤
The be able to deliver this kind of quality so long into their career is stunning. Mikael is a true genius.

@@RJT80 Probably to Crowley.
The New Drummer is FIRE. !!!
Omg new Opeth is so, so SICK it’s ridiculous. Can’t wait to hear the whole album and see the band live in October 🤘🤘
I'll be seeing them for the 10th time in October.
February for me. So exited for the new songs!
Opeth as strong as ever
I get a David Bowie - Blackstar vibe from parts of this song
I love that you guys went straight into the reaction, no long intro.
Amazing song and I'm glad to see others like it too, im so stoked for the album release
I’ve been loving this new album, can’t wait to see them on tour in a month
If the album keeps up with the quality of the first two tracks it's is gonna be a new Opeth masterpiece.
👍🌟🌟👍
Sounds like a blend of old and new stuff
this masterpiece reminds me of dream theatre inmediatly
I liked it pretty much instantly. The first track basically took me 5 listens to even enjoy it
I was the opposite. 1 grabbed me right away, but 3 is getting better with every listen
@@Meshuggapethyeah same here the growls hooked my attention but this one needed a few to differentiate from the last album
@@Meshuggapeth 100%. This is true
Opeth - paragraph 5
Very recomended
Defenitly not a easy song to engage with a first listen... Still ... The old Peth and new Peth is United... And its F awesome 🤘
Foreverpeth
This album is likely gonna be their best.
Hopefully you guys can catch them on the upcoming tour.

New Nightwish album Yesterwind. An ocean of Strange Islands is a banger you won't be disappointed.

Awesome

Love the oriental (Turkish?) feel at the beginning.

As someone who prefers more rapid changes, I have to rate the songwriting of newer Opeth
SINISTRO!
It's the influence of Ian Anderson I hear. Nice!
please do:
by the pain i see in others-opeth
Almost getting early Dreamtheater vibes, nice.
Where are you, the whole album is released

Paragraph 1 stays favorite, don't be silly. :P
San Franscisco Halloween. Nuff said.
Lucky!
Fake ending got you good 😂

If you love Sweden Death metal you must check out Night Crowned - De namnlösa. A great Swedish band!
Opeth putting new Dream Theater music out before Dream Theater does lol

I recomend you listen to Alcest-Les jardins de minuit
It’s odd to say new Opeth Rulez!
0:54 - 2:53 these sections are too middle eastern

last good album by Opeth was My Arms, Your Hearse...everything after is quite boring, this one included
MAYH was the 1st Real Opeth album. Virtually EVERYTHING after that was golden. Opeth is the GOAT band. Period. I pity you.
@@kurtkish6970 LOL hahah you 'pity me' hahah thanks for the laugh
As much as I liked the first song released, I dislike the second. Hopefully the rest of the album is better.
