Thank you so much!! I’m still working on the full video for my St Pat’s Display. Can’t wait to share it!

Oh my gosh Kelley, I hope you don’t mind me saying this but thanks for the chuckle. I am so glad I am not the only one to make mistakes. Like you said that’s how we learn. I was going to do a harbour last year for my Christmas village and used clear silicone and a painted lake bed. It smelled so bad for weeks and then I just didn’t have time ( or I was scared). Probably the latter. 😂. I am definitely doing it this year. Just need to figure out what method will be best.

Not at all- I frequently laugh at myself as I create. There’s always some level of chaos or minor disaster. It keeps things fun and interesting! And sometimes those mistakes lead to interesting discoveries! Oh yes- when materials and products have a strong smell it’s a huge deterrent for me! It always makes me say…how badly do I want to do this?!🤣 We always find a way for our passion, don’t we?!!

Uh oh… I’m trying to make a swampy pond, and I used PVA to seal and prime the foam.
Am I screwed? It’s certainly had a ton of acrylic paint and citadel washes painted over the PVA.

Uh oh!!! Sorry I’m late to reply! How’d it go?! This product is awesome but also makes me a little nuts. I’ve had varying degrees of success. Hope yours turned out great!!

@ it did come out cloudy, and drying really slowly. I think that’s a combo of using PVA, and maybe the pond being to deep. It don’t dry after a week, not completely. So I’ve covered it a little and…. Stuck it on a shelf.
Still not dry, and testing it has left marks on the surface. :/
But that’s ok, in hindsight it was too round, a circle. So I’m gonna try again with 2 smaller, more irregularly shaped ponds.
Also ive got good results on a models 50mm base, one edge of the base is blue pond with a Holy Grail decal in between a couple of layers of the water

Gallant try! I have never been able to get realistic water to work well in a large area. Plus, I don't find that it holds up well and will shift if you don't store it level. I use it mainly for small areas. I have had success with the "toilet paper and PVA glue" in larger areas. You don't get a "deep pour" but I was able to slant the sides and with paint gave the lake a very dimensional look, including the sense of water movement. This was for a diorama that I did of a lake scene that was about 12 x 12inches. Looks like it was deep in the middle. I plan on using Envirotex, small size, (Amazon) for the river on my husband's train layout. It will be an overall quicker process.

Thank you!! I definitely added some variables that didn’t help 😂😂 thank you for telling me about Envirotex! I’ve never heard of that. I’ll have to check it out! I’d like to start adding more water elements to my displays.

Well, I'm doing my first pour on a river, I was hoping for some pointers, but I figure so long as I don't do any of what you did I'm should be on the right track 👍

Happy to share what not to do! 😂 I do have another video where I try again and have much more success! The bottle I used on the first pour had been opened a year ago and I think that may have affected the curing of the material. I also do my pours outside where it is INCREDIBLY hot and I think that impacted things. On my second video, I do two different pours with brand new bottles. I use the entire bottle for each river, doing three different pours with cure time in between. One I leave outside to cure in the heat. The other I did in my garage where it was much cooler. I definitely had better success the second time around. I’ve used this product a few times and it seems as long as you cover your foam with plaster and don’t want to create anything too deep, you should have success!! Just don’t forget, if you want real mosquitos in your water, just leave it outside 🤣🤣
