G'day Miriam, fantastic village, thank you for your tutorials. I'm wondering if you have a tutorial on the actual pond ? thank you from Qld Aus .... thanks mate
Hello Deb, Thank you very much! Yes, how to make the pond is in the video I linked below. How to build a Christmas Village Mountain: DIY Mountain Diorama
!!Thank you Miriam!! I was like, euh? Was it my name she mentioned?? let me rewind ... 🤣 I was so happy! Thank you to take the time to show us in detail how to make this beautiful waterfall and the effects at the bottom just makes it look so real!! Love it! I’m nervous to do mine but I am sure with your technique I won’t be guessing around! And now I can’t wait to see your new project! Beautiful! I love seeing your videos and gives me more the Christmas Spirit!! God bless you my new friend! -Jocelyn

Hi Miriam... God has truly blessed you with not only a talent of creativity but also with a gift of communication. You have done an awesome job with your mountain project and I just love the realistic waterfall you just created. It certainly matters that we use the correct products for our projects, and I want to thank you for taking the time to share with us the correct way to use them to get the great results such as yours.. Can't wait to see the mountain ski slope. Beautiful Job!!
Hi Miriam. Finally got a chance to watch this video. LOVE that waterfall. You have such great attention to detail. I'll definitely have to be adding one to my village next year. I'm happy to report that we've got the basic set up complete for my Mom's village. Now she's in the process of deciding which houses to use. It's a bit difficult as she has so many but not as large of a set up as in previous years. I also wanted to let you know I found pictures from a party I hosted a few years ago. That year I did a huge set up out in my garage combining houses from both mine and my Mom's collections. I created mountains as a backdrop and really went all-out with my display (but no waterfall). To make it even more unique, I set up a small Halloween and Easter village nearby. These were houses that Mom bought at JoAnn Fabrics years ago but hadn't been set up for display due to her health issues. I may not have had a waterfall, I did create a haunted lake for the Halloween one. LOL Once I have a bit of free time (Is there such a thing?) I'll sift through them and send you some of the best ones. I do have a tendency too take a lot of pictures, so I promise to try and not overwhelm your email. As always, thank you for sharing your gifts and talents. It's always a treat to see your latest videos.
Hey Lloyd, thanks so much!! That’s awesome you have the base completed. I know for me that is where most of the work is. There must be so many houses to choose from. Your old village sounds so fun, I look forward to seeing it!!
Its very nice. Your ideas are much better. I like the lake, what do you use? I saw lakes with jelly hair and I try but no matter you put wrap paper under, the foam absorbs it.
Hello Mildred, Check out this video I did for the lake, it will walk you through how to make the lake and what products I used. Hope this helps! th-cam.com/video/ZihAkG-knYM/w-d-xo.html
Thank you, Miriam, for these videos!! I have learned so much and am encouraged to try to do something other than just put my village out on a table! I appreciate your sweet personality and that you let your son make his own village. Thank you again and God bless you!
Hello Judith, Thank you so much for such a lovely compliment. I really appreciate it. I’m so glad to hear you will be trying something new in your village. I’m sure it will turn out great!! God bless and enjoy your Christmas season.
Hi Miriam just wanted to say thanks for all your help and the videos. I'm on my 3 year of making my village and also I got in to one of your contest on 2021. Again thanks and keep up with all your good work. I have learn a lot with all your videos and has help me to get better every year. Thank you. Israel
Hi Miriam, loved the video. I put a little pond on the top of my mountain, with a small waterfall. I also add something to my Christmas village every year, and this year I did a ski slope. I love doing this stuff! Do you have a video with your ski slope?
Thanks so much! I have attached 2 different videos that I did two different types of ski slopes. How to build Christmas Village Ski Mountain th-cam.com/video/AQOVCuccmcU/w-d-xo.html
Your tutorial was excellent and informative. I'm in the process of starting another large diorama, of which will include my first water water feature. I will be returning to this video as I continue with that diorama. I did also subscribe.
Wonderful video, Miriam. I have also seen this water effect created using a hot glue gun to make the water strips. Falls made with glue are just as easy, and are most likely less expensive than the Woodland Scenics material. I appreciate your tip about the shiny side of the waxed paper. At 73, I still learn every day. Thank you!
Hello, you are very welcome! I have seen people use the hot glue yet and I still haven’t tried it yet. I am going try it and let you know how it turns out! 😃 That is the beauty about life, if we allow it to be, it is a constant journey of learning. 😀
Thanks so much Elaine!! If you do, will you please send me a pic? I would love to see your finished product. If you want to share, you can email me at miriamsmanner@gmail.com 😄
I just discovered your TH-cam channel. I love it. It's given me lots of ideas for my Christmas village. Thank you so much and looking forward to more new videos.
Thanks so much. Mine also dries clear. It takes several days to dry completely clear when it’s applied as thick as I did. I didn’t have time to let it dry all the way for the sake of the video release. Plus I added paint to make it look like the water is frothing.

@@MiriamsManner It's ok Miriam. And I'm an AMZ seller, I wonder if you have interest in testing our product? although it's not some handmade things, it's thet rechargeable touchless soap dispenser. an smart tech. Hope didn't bother you, have a good time~~
Hello Stephanie, I actually used realistic water to make the lake. I have attached a link below. It is the full video of how I made that mountain. I go over in detail the lake portion in this video. Check it out and let me k ow if you have any other questions! 😃 How to build a Christmas Village Mountain: DIY Mountain Diorama
Hello Hope!! Every year I make at least one new platform for my village so I actually start in September. It takes me several weeks to make all of the new platforms so after that I slowly start putting it together. I usually get it completed sometime in October. 😂🤣
@@MiriamsManner I'm at work enjoying all your videos, but I must admit I am getting so overwhelmed. I have all these ideas, but I must relax and take my time. Thanks for the quick response.
Thank you! I’m so glad you enjoy them!! One thing that helps me is doing a rough sketch of what I would like my village to look like. Then I look at all my village pieces and platforms to see how close I can get to that image. I hope this helps.
Also, at the end of the video you mentioned hitting the bell so I get notified when you are posting another video. Im not as tech savy, so can you explain how to set up notification to see your next videos? Thank you again so much. Also, someone mentioned about using glue gun vs woodland scenic and Ive tried in past, but the glue wasnt as flexible and end up becoming brittle over time. Not sure if it was error on my part, but I just decided to use the products you suggest because it takes a long time (for me) to do this and I want it to last for years. Hopefully, something I can pass down to my son :)
Hey Tina, I’m not that tech savvy either. I have had to learn a whole lot over the past year since I started my channel. 😂🤣 The only way I know how to hit the notification bells is from a computer. Pull up my channel and click on it. Then, there are icons on the top right next to the search bar. The 4th one over is a little bell and click on that bell icon. That way you will be notified whenever I release a video. I have never used hot glue for a waterfall but I can tell you the very first waterfall I made with the water effects from woodland scenics is still in tact after 5 years. It is still sturdy and has not discolored at all. Hope this helps! 😃
You are amazing!!! Wow! So each year do you take your village apart? I thought I would just put a cover over it and store it away but maybe that is not the best option? X
😂😂. Thanks Vanessa!! Yes, I do take my village apart every year. I like to challenge myself every year and come up with a completely new layout. I have never recreated to same village twice. That’s why I take it down every year. If you are planning on keeping your village the same, it’s not a bad idea to keep it together to store it. It would save you a lot of set up time the following year. 😄
Thank u so much for your ideas. I would like to know how u store your village and accessories and do u diy figures and trees. Do u have a video for them. Thank u. I have a huge village and would like to send u a video
You are very welcome Sharyn!! I store my village buildings and accessories in their original boxes and packaging. Then I put them in the stackable large plastic tree bins. I do make some of my own trees, but I do not have a video for that yet. I will be posting more village videos in about 2-3 more weeks and that video idea is on my list. I don’t make any of my figurines, those are all store bought but I do paint my figurines and I have a video for that. I would love to see your video, I just love looking at villages. You can email it to me at miriamsmanner@gmail.com. Thanks for sharing.
Hello, that sounds like a wonderful idea. I have never tried that to know how the resin will react to the constant water flowing over it. If you try it, let me know how it works out for you, I would love to know. 😁
Hello, you are in luck, I have a tutorial for that mountain. I have attached the link below for you. Also, if you go to my page, then click on playlists and then click on all things Christmas, I have other videos showing how to make different platforms and mountains. 😀 How to build a Christmas Village Mountain: DIY Mountain Diorama th-cam.com/video/ZihAkG-knYM/w-d-xo.html
I have never used glitter glue along with the Woodland Scenics products. If I were you, I would make my waterfall 2 inches longer than what it needs to be and do a test strip on the extra 2 inches. If it doesn’t degrade the product after a few days, then do the whole thing. If it does, just cut off those 2 inches and you can still use the waterfall.
Im wanting to make ripples for icy water under bridge in my village. i want to have the water a little darker with alot of ice/snow like the river is frozen over. Im not sure colors of paint to use or how to make it look like the water is flowing down stream. Any suggestions?
I myself haven’t done an ice pond yet but here is a link to woodland Scenics ice pond tutorial. I think this video should answer your questions. They did an ice pond with darker, more murky colors. It will also let you know which products you should buy to achieve the look you are wanting. th-cam.com/video/yWKuKOd7Npw/w-d-xo.html
Hi Miriam I hope you are well! I have hit a snag with my woodland scenic realistic water. The container I bought is all congealed and not pourable! Any ideas? Can I add water or melt it somehow?
Oh no, I’m so sorry to hear that. There are other resin products that you can self mix that are sold at regular hardware stores that might already be in your area. There is a gentlemen on TH-cam who uses it. I will see if I can find that video for you.
Omg!!! I just found your channel and I’m a new subscriber! ILOVE Christmas and everything about it, we could be twins😂 I can’t wait for Christmas in July!!! Good job I’ve watched a few videos and I’m sold!💕💕💕💕
Hello Maria, I’m so glad we found each other! So glad you are looking forward to Christmas in July. Thank you for the compliment. Look forward to chatting it up with you next month.

Hello Audrey, I use woodland scenics realistic water for my lake. Mine was originally clear also but I tinted mine with two drops of food coloring. The product I used for my waterfall is called “water effects” by woodland scenics. That is white and thick like glue.
Hi Miriam! Love your video's of your Christmas village! I am always looking for new things to try and this year we are building a waterfall. Your instructions were perfect!!! I can't wait to try it. I do have a question though....for your ponds and rivers, what do you use? I've seen a few videos where people use the background to like a fishtanks and I've seen also, where they use a liquid product. What do you use? Any help would be appreciated!
Hello Rebecca, I am so happy to hear that you will be adding a water fall this year. They really make your village pop. I use a product called realistic water. Who needs television when you can binge watch Miriam’s Manner 😃
🤣😂😂. That’s so sweet, thank you!
That's so amazing!!
Thanks Sophia!
@@MiriamsManner It's ok Miriam. And I'm an AMZ seller, I wonder if you have interest in testing our product? although it's not some handmade things, it's thet rechargeable touchless soap dispenser. an smart tech. Hope didn't bother you, have a good time~~
Did you use the same kit for the actual Blue warter that you have in your project? I love the waterfall idea... Nice work
Hello Stephanie,
I actually used realistic water to make the lake. I have attached a link below. It is the full video of how I made that mountain. I go over in detail the lake portion in this video. Check it out and let me k ow if you have any other questions! 😃
How to build a Christmas Village Mountain: DIY Mountain Diorama
Wow!! When do start creating your village before Thanksgiving I'm sure or earlier than that?
Beautiful sister 😍
Thank you!!!
You do amazing work!
Thank you! ☺️
Hey Tina,
I’m not that tech savvy either. I have had to learn a whole lot over the past year since I started my channel. 😂🤣
The only way I know how to hit the notification bells is from a computer.
After the work is done, is it ok to make it look more realistic by having flowing water from a water pump run over on top of it…? Thank you!
Hello, that sounds like a wonderful idea. I have never tried that to know how the resin will react to the constant water flowing over it. If you try it, let me know how it works out for you, I would love to know. 😁
Thank.
You are welcome!
How did you do the mountain?. Would live to see a tutorial of it.
Hello, you are in luck, I have a tutorial for that mountain. I have attached the link below for you. Also, if you go to my page, then click on playlists and then click on all things Christmas, I have other videos showing how to make different platforms and mountains. 😀

Thank you
Hi, can you use glitter glue, I ask only because of the sparkly base I am trying to do? God bless you, also.
Hello Teresa,
Do you mean for the ripples or the waterfall?
@@MiriamsManner yes...

Hi Miriam
I hope you are well! I have hit a snag with my woodland scenic realistic water. The container I bought is all congealed and not pourable! Any ideas? Can I add water or melt it somehow?
Oh no, that’s not right at all. Can you send it back and get a new one? I have never heard of this happening.
@@MiriamsManner aah it was an Amazon delivery to Australia as we don’t have the products in Australia.
Oh no, I’m so sorry to hear that. There are other resin products that you can self mix that are sold at regular hardware stores that might already be in your area. There is a gentlemen on TH-cam who uses it. I will see if I can find that video for you.
Can you use parchment paper? Thank you.
Yes, if it has a thick layer of wax. Otherwise it’s a little hard to get it off parchment.
How do you do the actual lake water Miriam ?
Hello Helena,
I make the water in the lake with a product from Woodland Scenics called realistic water. You can find it on amazon or the woodland scenics website. I show how to make the lake in this video link below.

@@MiriamsManner Ok thanks
You are welcome!
How do you get the lake water that color?
I painted the bottom of the surface before I added the resin.
What type of realistic water are you using. Your is white and thick like glue. Mine is clear and runny
I have attached the link to the video where I use it and I also give tips on how to use the product. Check it out and let me know what you think. 😄

Thank you so much! I’m really happy to help. 😄
