Thanks for the video. I’m considering a Pro Angler and I will either do the same thing or put it right next to the seat on the right side (since I cast left handed)
Thanks for the tips and the video. I’ve been following a Hobie group on Facebook and seen this front rail. Now I’m wondering why i bought it. I think getting a few things off my side rail would be a good reason. I’m always worried that if i tip, I’d have too much crap on the side rail to get back in. This should help clear a spot. I have an older PA 12 so i might have to shorten the bar a little.
Like the idea of placing a hrail on the front of a PA14. Is the 21” hrail longer than 21”with the black attachment end pieces? If the total length is 21” it won’t be long enough to work on my PA14 360.
Hey Roger, sorry for the delay. The bar itself is what measures 21", the black plastic end pieces are not included in that 21" measurement from Hobie. I believe, don't hold me to it, the total length of the 21" H-Rail kit is actually 28" with the black plastic ends included. Hope that helps!
Sadly I'm not sure you can get them anymore. TRCCovers was the company, and you use to be able to order custom length cable sleeves like this but I no longer see that on their website. trccovers.com/
How do you like your FF on the front H rail? Is it still there? I am most likely going to get a 10" screen. Been contemplating getting the PA14 360. Thx
Hey Brian, yes I do still have my FF on the front H-Rail. I put it as far to the right side as I can and as low as possible. It works perfectly there and is out of my way while still be visible. The 360 drive is nice but if I could do it over again I think the 180 drive setup + spot-lock bow mounted trolling motor would be perfect.
@Applegate Fishing thx for the reply i will not be doing a trolling motor at all so i am sure about the 360. About the forward mount for your FF . Is it a pain to get up and mark a fish or way point. My only concern is about not having contact with my FF to hit and keys needed so getting up and down, etc. I am a big guy at 6'3" with long arms, so wonder if i can reach it so it wouldn't be an issue. Thx for any feedback
@@briansupermag3918 I am 6'2" and I'm able to pretty easily touch it when needed. I have to lean forward a little ways but it is something I only do like a dozen times at most when I'm on the water. If I was mostly going to be seated and I heavily needed to touch the FF it might be better off being closer to the chair. I have been routinely standing up and fishing now that I have a trolling motor so having it further forward like this has allowed me to still use it while standing similar to a normal bass boat with their FF up next to the trolling motor pedal.
@Applegate Fishing thank you as thats pretty much the answer i was hoping for. I can have my screen split 3 ways. Side scan in top so its wide then traditional sonar/chirp on 1 then chart on the 3 to see contour lines on the bottom to find places to target. Appreciate it
Hello, I am running 8 gauge wire throughout the kayak so I used Anderson SB50 connectors. Here is a link to the exact ones I ordered: www.ebay.com/itm/193582018344
Is that the pre made 21 inch mod you can get on Amazon?? I want to do this mod but I’m trying to find out if I have to order a full H Rail and cut it or does it come pre cut

Absolutely, glad to help. I think you'll really love having that extra H-Rail up front.
I see quite of few guys putting their graph in the center of the new rail. What made you decide not to do that? Nice vid !

@@applegatefishingthanks, you answered my question. At 27-28” it will work!
Thanks
You're welcome, thanks for watching!
Sweet looking setup, do you think this would work on the pa 12 as well?
Absolutely, worst case you'll have to cut part of the bar, but I doubt it. The PA12 is 36" wide where the PA14 is 38" wide.
what is the part # you have to mount your garmin to the h rail? Thanks
There are 3 components for that:

length of h rail? all im seeing online is 9 and 21 inch, did you have to cut it to make it fit?
This was the 21" version, no need to cut the bar.
I have a 2018 pro angler 14, is there any difference between the newer models or will the 21 in bar fit mine?
There are no major hull differences that would cause an issue with installing this on your 2018 PA 14. Thanks for watching and best of luck!

It is the 21".
Good grief man, enough talking. This is ridiculous
