Its funny how critics didn't like the glitch/stop and go sound from forever now its praised. I hate saying this, and i hope this tag is for just this album unless they kinda keep with this sound. But this is glitchcore. This band has always believed in themselves, the music they make. You can hear so many influences in their music (including side bands) going back till now. Truly one of my favorite bands. I'm sure there's other people out there taking heavy influence from them.
Can definitely hear the "glitchcore" influence, but I'd say it's more like 35% of the album. Also agree that the critics are inconsistent idiots, pitchfork was the only critic that disliked it this time.

totally agree, but when their able to find a good balance between melodic music that carries Rebas clean vocals as well as the screaming I feel like that's the sweet spot
Everybody is criticizing this track for sounding like a shallow, pop-metal LP ripoff but they always, without fail fail to analyze the narrative driven by the lyrics to the song, the music feels merely like an accompaniment and with this track’s themes of being mundane on the outside and twisted beneath, I think going for a less harsh sound really pushes it over the edge. This album is fucking incredible.
But even that criticism doesn't make sense: electronics and vocals don't make a similarity alone. Sure Reba sounds a little like Chester here (and a lot like Shirley Manson) but the main chorus riff is way more powerful than anything LP ever did and the guitar leads during the verse are more clever.

Anyone have any insight into the "two X's and Y" lyric? I get that it's a reference to Klinefelter Syndrome but I'm not sure why in the context of the song.
The song is about Ricardo Lopez, a guy who stalked bjork back in the days. He mailed her an acid bomb and then killed himself the day of you birthday, with a phrase written in the wall behind "the best of me". He had a particular syndrome wich maybe is a thrisomy, idk. Anyway search Ricardo Lopez on TH-cam and you'll find his sad story.
Agreed, and I like the old stuff just fine. They are still so young and only growing into their potential now: the vocals are going to keep getting better, the guitarwork more technical, and the synths more seamlessly integrated.
This gives me vibes of Deftones, NIN, and Chevelle. This is my favorite song off this record.

Personally im more of a fan of the Reba songs as opposed to just screaming. Love this one
