I like how for the last song there's a different mask hanging in front of the drum kit because Jami's sitting behind it. Little conscious artistic choices like that are part of what make Code Orange so awesome.
Code Orange is without a doubt my favourite band from the last 15 years. Old stuff, new stuff, every album is such an uppercut in the teeth and they're so fxcking incredible on stage. Just love for them.
Love this band, hope they keep expanding on what Code Orange is & keep experimenting with their sound, too many bands stick to the same formula & the same people complaining bands change complain when they don’t change anyway
That is extremely true. If you dont change musically & stay consistent ppl will get bored and complain about that, but if you change even slightly or grow steadily over time ppl will also whine and complain about that.
@@mediumvillain yes & it’s okay not to love everything a band does, it’s to be expected with an experimental band, but people tend to take it too personally, especially in the heavy music fanbase. Seems pointless as most everyone’s favorite bands have songs, or even albums they don’t mess with, just listen to what you like & let bands be creative lol

In my early and mid 20s I moved away from heavier music. But this is one of the few bands that have kept me interested and still going back to heavy music. CO is one of the most interesting bands I’ve been listening to in the heavy metal/hardcore genre.
Have known the band for a very long time. I didn't quite understand how what they used to play was recorded, released by labels and organized tours. After all, it could be played by every aspiring band that listens to „Converge“. Of course I was jealous. I used to write such compositions by the hundreds. Now they've gone into experiments, they even look different, and I can't and don't want to. Maybe in this they will be unique? Good luck in your creativity!
Or, hear me out, let people have their opinion. They put their music out for the public to hear, and anyone who hears it has a right to criticize it in any way they see fit.
@@PhaggyJames there’s a thing called beating a dead horse as well, for a band that goes by “thinners of the herd” you’d think people would get the point, but their loudest critics obsessively hate & come off like trolls lol
Best band in the game, last album stills spinning at my home. Audiotree session sounds amazing 🌲 Come to Argentina, we are waiting for so long 🔪 P.S: Shade 👽🤘🏻
Hot take - this era of grunge/nu metal vibes feels much more honest than their ultra edgy glitchy core moments. They still have the HC style riffs, but now there's more substance between them than just glitchy noise
Shouldn’t be a hot take, I agree, people hear one sound & want them to stick with it, they’ve never done just that tho. It’s like they forget they had an alt rock side project while also in Code, now they’ve just come full circle with everything & can keep building on it
I disagree, I think for the most part the more alt rock parts lack substance and feel somewhat undercooked, like they are still figuring out what they wanna do with it. With notable excepcions, like Mirror, which is amazing. I also enjoy Take Shape, but don't think it's a masterpiece, and Theatre of Cruelty is one of the sons that make me not want to put the album on. I mean, the only songs I'm dying to hear on the album are Grooming My Replacement, Mirror, I Fly and Splinter the Soul. Take Shape, A Drone Opting out of the Hive and snapshot are cool too, but don't have me dying to listei to them. The rest feels like it needed a little more time in the oven, or is Circle Through, which... yikes. While with something like Underneath it seems they got everything down to a science, it is very cohesive and purposeful. What I dislike on this album is not the change in sound, I couldn't care less. It's that it feels like they still haven't quite figured out how to execute well this style.
@@pedrohenriquepietracci3061 “undercooked” is how I felt about their last album, great first half but the second half was throwing stuff at the wall. This album felt more like a collection of everything they’ve done & expanding their sound at the same time, going back to Adventures even, & I loved Adventures, so Circle Through basically being an Adventures song was great for me. Reba gets to shine here more than ever before, she said she had tons of ideas but didn’t think they’d fit Code but Jami said he really pushed for more of her ideas this time around, that’s how we got Mirror which is nothing like Code but it’s one of their best songs imo. I think they’ve gotten way better at writing hooks & songwriting in general on this album. Idk how you can like Take Shape but dislike Theatre Of Cruelty that much, at least if you like their Forever era stuff, it has versus that are similar to Take Shape but the rest of it sounds like it could fit perfectly on Forever. It’s subjective anyway, but gotta respect them for making very bold creative choices & doing what they really want, they’ve really become an amazing live band now at least

Easily the most interesting band in metal/hardcore, whatever you wanna to call it, to emerge in the last 10 years. Def the one with the most massive potential to bring these sounds back to the mainstream.
@greatvaluecorndog they're probably most famous new hard band in the world, won and nominated for multiple grammys, experiment and change direction on every album, have some of both the hardest and most melodic songs in the genre simultaneously, how am I wrong?
@@5371W yeah I guess but to me they seem like a manufactured industry plant. they're relatively new and came out of nowhere anonymously with a huge view counts. like they were created by a label.
