Hey, just a couple of radio-related tips from an electronics engineer. 1) The dual antennas should be perpendicular to eachother for maximum effectiveness. Antennas are polarized, not unlike sunlight (think polarizer filters!), so having the antennas at 90 degrees to eachother means that when one antenna is picking up a weak signal the other will be picking up a strong signal, and vice versa. 2) The suggestion to turn off Bluetooth is because WiFi and Bluetooth are both 2.4GHz and use the SAME antenna in your phone. This is actually impossible to do, so what it means is that your phone is having to constantly toggle between using that antenna for Bluetooth and WiFi, which is incredibly unreliable (especially on Android phones, some more than others). Turning off Bluetooth for just one app like you suggest doing in the video has no effect on this at all (it's essentially just a privacy setting) - you must turn Bluetooth off for the entire phone.
Hey there Richard, thank you for a more in-depth response! I really wonder about the bluetooth setting for just the Ronin app or just turning off bluetooth in general - it does seem to make a difference on my iPhone. I understand from a technical standpoint that it might not make sense but I wonder if apple is doing something tricky to actually shut off bluetooth? Or if its not "actually" shutting it off, but denying permissions to single apps? This is above my pay grade but thanks for bringing that up! I love knowing things like this! Thanks for the great insight and watching
@@keith-knittel My guess would be that when BT is left enabled for the app, that the app tries to connect to the gimbal automatically or at least tells iOS that it may want to use BT, and that causes the difference you see. I'm pretty sure that even with BT disabled for the app, if you had another app in the background using BT or were using BT headphones (which is possible as BT is still enabled on the phone) that you'd see the same or worse degredation. It's hard to say for sure as it's all behind-the-scenes stuff, and Apple does change the behaviour quite frequently between iOS versions as it can have a large impact on battery life. If I get a RS2+RavenEye, I'll have to do some testing!
Thank-you again! 🙏 Just set-up my RS2 and RavenEye last night, and it was all so confusing (and this is my first gimbal). But after making All The Mistakes you talk about, I was able to get Active Track working thanks to you. The whole reason I got this was to film *myself*, and finally I can! Again, I’m grateful for this video 🙏🤗
It can be pretty confusing but glad to help you out! I had a ton of trial and error when I set mine up for the first time! Thanks for the kinds words and have fun filming!
Honestly that’s the best laid out tutorial video I’ve seen for Raven Eye. You are so correct that information is thin and anyone else doing a tutorial has left out important information and steps. Congrats on doing this very well. One question, I have Sony cameras, too, but always use the multi cable for control and not USB C. If you buy a Ronin S control cable for Sony from DJI, for example, it comes with the micro USB for multi. It’s working for me with multi input on RS 2. I’ll experiment and try the USB C to see what happens and let you know.
Okay Keith, just tried replacing the USB micro or mini into the camera with USB C and I lost all control. I’m using a new a7siii and tried your tip of controlling with PC and not mass storage, but all I got was image edge coming up on the monitor with a choice of MTP or USB. I couldn’t get anything to work and eventually went back to the multi plug in and everything was fine again. I know my A73 and A7R3 also work with the multi input for record start, etc. I don’t get ISO, shutter speed and aperture in Ravens eye in the DJI app. Are you getting this additional control?
Hey there Jack - I this is the experience I've been going through as well. I'm thinking about making another video addressing the RS2, how to rig it up, which cable to use and the drawbacks of using each cable for a7iii's and an a6400 (those are the cameras I have). Lots of trade offs based on camera and even resolution.
@@keith-knittel I think that's an excellent idea as I am reading about lots of confusion out there. I was on support with DJI as my zipper on my case broke and I need replaced. While I was on I sent them a link to your video and they appreciated it and thanked me as they realize there is a lack of information on the Raven's Eye and they want to address it.
Just bought the RS2 Pro combo and WOW...your video literally saved me hours of frustration!!! The DJI Ronin app was about 1/10th as useful as your video. DJI should just link this video in their app for support.
Very cool. Original "instructions" - if you wanna call that that way - suck. What would we do without you. Thank you for sharing your knowledge of RS2 with us !
I recommend using the Andycine think HDMI cable going from the camera to the field monitor/atomos ninja/smallhd monitor. It takes the tension off the gimbal. I had that issue when I used a normal HDMi cable (like you said, hard to cable manage and tugs on the gimbal).
Brilliant vid and really helped get my RS2 and RavenEye working with my S1 Glad I didn't have to rely solely on the DJI quick start guide that although "correct" leaves a lot open to interpretation One small glitch that I came across is a limit on what resolution can be filmed and sent over HDMI at the same time Therefore you can have everything setup & show in the app, but the image freezeses as soon as you press record To resolve this you need to reduce the video quality for it to work I have only tried this on my Pansonic Lumix S1, but reading a few other forums it seems to be an issue on the Sony A7 as well It looks to be a restriction set in the camera, so hopefully will be resolved in firmware updates
Have ordered the rs 2 pro combo and can't wait to get it. Great to be watching all your content in prep and sure I'm gonna be tapping into all your knowledge when I get this!!
Hi! I work with a Sony a6400 and recently bought RSC2 and Raveneye. I've already managed to connect and have access to control the camera's gimbal, tracking and REC. However, I can't change the aperture, speed and ISO parameters (they are set to "0"). I replaced the accompanying cable (sony multi) with the micro usb cable, in this case I can change the values but when starting to record (REC), the image is black on the smartphone and on the display. I've checked everything and I don't know what it can be. The settings are like Remote PC and HDMI Auto output. If you know what it can be, thank you.
Have the same camera and had no issues getting everything to work correct. The only thing I can see in the future that might really help this setup is to have zoom control.
Thanks for letting me know, Cody! I tend to only hear from people when something isnt working. Nice to hear it's all working for you - zoom control would be nice. I haven't needed it yet, but I do have the focus motor too that could work with zooms. I tend to shoot mostly on primes for my shoots recently though. Thanks again for commenting and watching
Hi Keith - I just came across your RS2 videos and you've absolutely nailed it mate! You could give DJI a few good tips on how to create educational videos for their RS2 !!!!
Great thank you. I am considering buying one and it's really helpful to know how to avoid issues even when correcting to what seems like a valid port. Is there really no documentation on this, and just something you had to experiment with? Of course they may have fixed this in the meantime. One of the perks of buying slightly older gear as I have (given the RS3 pro has been out a year)
Thanks for the great video. I had no idea there was different uses for the ports on the Ronin. That may solve the control issues I was having with my Canon R.
Thanks for the video. I am using A6400 on RSC2 and i have some problems. Connections ok but raveneye on phone started to display camera view too much laggy. I changed wifi signal type but nothing happened. At the start, it was very fluid but it became laggy suddenly and i couldn't solve the issue. Secondly, record button on gimbal does not function. I unchecked the record button in the display of Raveneye but nothing happened again. It's indicated that a dedicated cable is needed to make a timelapse but i couldn't find this cable either in the box.
First of all thanks for your video. I have noticed that the raveneye eats unbelievable battery and reduces the performance of the battery by half. After 3-4 hours of use I was up to 20% with the battery - that's not much! And: raveneye probably has its own battery. When I switch off the gimbal, the connection and the picture to the phone is maintained. So a USB connection to raveneye would not be necessary at all - as long as it was fully charged. But I haven't tried everything in detail myself yet ....
sometimes it makes sense to read the manual ;) Raveneye has its own battery, which lasts up to 3,5 hours and of course works without gimbal, that's why the hotshoe. you can plug it directly on the camera. with a 2nd USB cable to the camera you can then also control the camera with the Ronin app. With the Nikon Z6 it does not work. But you could have this function directly from the camera to the mobile phone via the Nikon app. Or with a Sony AR7 III with the Imaging Edge Mobile app ... in any case without all the cable hassle ... anyway - so it only makes sense to use raveneye together with the gimbal, because then you can control both devices (gimbal and camera) in one app.
I definitely unplug the RavenEye when I'm not using it to maximize my gimbal battery life. The RavenEye has it's own battery, but I don't really use the RavenEye on it's own without the gimbal because I have an A7iii and HDMI in 4K is a little restrictive (no face detect af, screen goes blank). That being said, it's still nice to use in certain situations. For remote viewing and checking up on the camera, using the RavenEye with the cold shoe is a great option!
awesome vids. have been very helpful. One thing I would say though is on regards to coiled HDMI cables on gimbals - they can be crap for balance - as the gimbal moves the tension changes hence changing the balance. They also always place strain on the HDMI connections and we've seen a few people have failed HDMI ports who where using coiled cables. And the majority of people we have helped with dropped frames/failed recordings that have been cable issues, its the Atomos coiled cable that has been the issue. At one stage we were coming across it a couple of times a week.just my 2 cents worth :)
Hey Jeff, saw your comment a week ago but guess my comment didn't send. I could see how after repeatedly using smaller coiled cables that will put a lot of stress on the port (especially micro HDMI's like the A7III) I'm going to include a more thorough HDMI cable break down in my next RS2 video. I've gone nuts purchasing multiple mini to full HDMI cables of lengths and coiled/uncoiled for my A7III, and now since purchasing the A7S III - full size cables. Since it seems like you have a lot of experience with this, do you have any recommendations for cables for me to test? Not that I need anymore cables! But interested in what you think the best ones are. Thanks for your 2 cents!
Fantastic video> Question if you are still checking these older videos. I have the RSC2 combo that has Raveneye. When I start tracking, it the gimbal starts moving side to side. It starts fine, then starts tacking off panning side to side until I have to grab and hold on while it loses track Love the gimbal and dont want to return it, but I got it specifically for the active tracking. I have tried three different Canon cameras and turned stabilization off, rebalance, recalibrate etc. Any ideas?
Running an hdmi from your camera to the in of your monitor, then monitor out to the raveneye will allow you to use the monitor and raveneye at the same time! Lots of cables but it works!
Really helpfull video, thank you! A silly question perhaps, but do you need to be connected to a network to use active track? We love safari and network is not always available
If using the vertical mount for the camera, does the raveneye have to sit ontop of the camera in the cold-shoe? or how does that work? i didn't see a way to mount the raveneye elsewhere. Could you advise? Thanks!
Hello, Congrats on nice video. With/without RE, I cannot record from record button on RS2. Only on iPhone through app. Record button shows iPhone-icon and can't change it. Footage saved on iPhone (cache). Cables connected properly but app says cam ctrl cable disconnected. Any suggestions on how I can enable recording from gimbal and save on my BMPCC4K? Thanks a lot !
Thank you a lot for the video. I am considering buying a small video transmitter for the RS2 (which I already have), so the Raveneye might be an option as it seems quite small too, but I have a question. If you connect everything but the usb c cable from RSS to the camera, the Raveneye will at least send a video signal, or it needs the double connection (hdmi and usb-c) with the camera necessarily? My camera Blackmagic needs the usb-c port and I only need to send a video signal, no tracking or other fancy stuff.. Thank you in advance for the answer, man!
Hey ! Is it possible to have connect raven eye and camera control in the same time ? When i have preview on my phone , i can`t press rec button on my gimbal or change iso on front dial. I use sony multi cable but when I put usb c to usb c in camera i have info about iso aperture but i don`t have camera preview. Only black screen... I use rsc2 and A7 III
You can buy you'd have to use a HDMI from your camera, to the monitor HDMI in, then from the monitor HDMI out to the RavenEye. That seems like it's going to be a large rig, but some shoots my require something like that! Thanks for the kind words
Hello, thanks for your videos which are very useful well explained, the gimbal the raveneye and the camera are well connected with the right cables but when I want to activate 'Active Track' I cannot see what I have framed on the small monitor of the dji ronin rs gimbal 2 pro combo. how should i do?
Hey there Andy, I've been using this TH-cam channel to try out different grades and lighting setups. Some work better than others! Lol. But This was my "very low contrast" phase. I have to admit, I still love the look of low contrast stuff, but product videos probably arent the best fit for that look, I totally agree.
@@keith-knittel Hi Keith , thank you for replying, with such a nice warm response. (Didn’t mean to be so up-front , and also rude on my part) Thank you for the great DJI Gimbal reviews and set up videos, I’ve just brought a RS 3 pro of the back of watching your videos. Oh yes, I agree a lower contrast depicts a brighter/ happier image. You have got that perfect balance in your newer videos too. I’ve certainly used a lower contrast to depict a happier or even dreamer images. I have also at times increased the contrast just a bit to much too , at it doesn’t work well.
I am just curious about in what fps and resolution does the raveneye transmits… tried to find it everywhere but couldn’t get help about this specific thing..
Thank you so much Keith! Really helpful stuff... I'm totally new to gimbal work so maybe I'm just doing something wrong?! But when switching to "movie" mode on the camera dial (A7III) the screen on the phone turns black (no image). When A/S-Mode or whatever I get a live image. But without face recognition... Do you have tip for that?
Hey there Andreas, glad I could help! The A7III doesn't support face detect af while recording using HDMI out (any HDMI out, not just the RavenEye) As for the black screen, what are your settings on your camera and which cables are you using? Thanks for watching and the kind words!
Hey! I'm having the same problem here! Any solution to this?? Sony a7m3+Usb-c to Usb-c, camera settings are all the same to this video. Thanks in advance!!
Is there a way that I can playback videos i recorded in pc remote mode hooked up to the gimbal? My a7c does not allow me to play playback on the camera when in pc remote mode hooked up to the gimbal
Hi, I have a problem. I have the Sony A7S ii and when I shoot in HD, the footage is both transmitted on the camera screen and my phone (via the RavenEye). The problem occurs when I shoot in 4K, namely the camera's screen goes black everytime I press the REC button. Any ideas how to fix it?
Keith Your video is great. It would be great if you could do an in-depth video on the Rs2 , RavenEye and the Sony a7iii. A complete setup for slow people like myself. A complete guide for beginners from A-Z. Thats my hope. Happy Holidays...
Noted! I typically don't like doing specific setup videos, but so many people have asked for that one, I think I'll end up making one! Anything in particular you'd like to know? Thanks for the feedback and watching
@@keith-knittel I really enjoyed the video. I believe you know what you're doing but for some reason I can't get your set up to work. Ive followed it to the tee and when I hit play both screens go dark. I watched another video and they used the Sony Multi.I did this like I believe you did and the screen works but little camera control. Check out my Nephews channel "The Cosmic Wonder" he's pretty big. Maybe y'all could do something together. Also my firmware is up to date. Man I want this to work.
@@edthompson9123 That's just the limitation of the A7III, I've really resisted the urge to make a sony a7iii + rs2 setup video in all the configurations since firmware may update in the future (and there are multiple configurations to use the camera, raven eye, control cable and gimbal together) but if you need the RavenEye with the A7III, I typically don't use any camera control cable at all. Just start/stop and adjust the settings on your camera. USBC connections cause the screen to go black when recording in 4K (cant remember about 1080p). This isn't a fault of the raven eye, but a fault of the camera - so it's frustrating to diagnose. Anymore, I'm leaning towards no cable at all and just press record manually on the A7III. I just picked up an A7S III, so I'll do more testing with that camera as well. Sorry for the long-winded response, but thank you for following up. This camera and gimbal combination is confusing and frustrating, the lack of docs makes it even worse. I think I'm going to end up making a video going in-depth of what can and can't work with the A7III and RS2. It's just taking a long time to make!
Hi Keith, when I connect my A7iii following your instructions, the screen in my Ronin app goes black. But if I remove the usb-c cable I can see the image again. Do you know why it is happening? Thanks
Hey there Roberto, that’s my experience with the a7iii and the RS2 with usbc- using the micro cable will allow you to see the feed but not allow you to control the settings
I had all the correct cables connected between RSC 2 + Sony A7iii + Raveneye. Everything was perfectly working from Ronin App (iPhone 11), including Active Tracking + all camera settings (RSC2), directly from Ronin App. I am not sure if after latest firmware updates, but same setup, but when I connect Raveneye to Ronin App (iPhone 11) or when I get RSC2 out from sleep mode, I get a black screen, though start/stop and camera settings still working from RSC 2 as Raveneye is actully connected to Ronin app. As soon as I put RSC2 to sleep, I DO actually get live view in Ronin App, but it is only recording to my phone and active tracking does not work.
This could be if you're using the USBC camera control cable? What happens if you don't use a camera control cable, does the screen still go black after waking from sleep mode?
Depends on your camera and control cables you’re using. With the a7iii you’ll need to use the usbc cable to control camera settings. Thanks for the kind words and watching
I cant say, as I don't have a C200 - but feel free to send me a c200 to test out! Haha. Sorry I can't be of more help, maybe someone can comment here with more experience with the C200 + RS2?
As a Canon R5 user, I’ve been constantly getting the red light. I’ve tried all the cables. The part I’m stuck on is connecting to the Raveneye wifi. It shows yup but it won’t connect. I’ve connect successfully once but then it disconnected when I hopped onto the app.
Dear Keith , dear ALL what fps does it transmit? If i shoot FHD 60 fps or 120 fps does it work as well? I am excited about Raveneye, because it completely replaces and quit the need of any control monitor - is there any limitation regarding fps? Thanks a lot, your feedback is much appreciated 😊
Hey there Edward, I’m not sure what FPS the Raven eye transmits fo the app but while recording 120 FPS on my a7iii the raven eye works as expected. You’re not able to record 120fps in the ronin app, the app is more for monitoring or low-resolution recording. Good question and thanks for watching
Hi Keith do you confirm me that with raveneye the usb c camera input is used by it ? In the situation isn't possible to connect external hard drive. Tks
Can you use the raveneye without the gimbal only for wireless hdmi? For example on a shoulder rig? Does it have its own battery or is that power supplied by the usb c port? If it has its own battery, how long does it last?
Hey Shane, the raven eye has its own battery. Lasts about 3.5 hours. Takes 2.5 hours to charge. Not the most elegant hdmi transmitter option (it requires an app) - but if you already have the raven eye, it’s a great additional benefit
Great video which covers most of the issues I came across - wish I had seen this first. I have one annoying problem. Having attached the RavenEye I cannot balance the gimbal from the app when connected using the RavenEye (Wifi) connection. Frustratingly that means that you have to disconnect, enable BlueTooth, connect and balance and then disconnect BT and connect via Wifi. Am certain I'm missing something but cannot find what the problem is. Would be good to have HDMI passthrough to route onto a recorder and still retain the remote camera controls and record full resolution.
What camera, camera settings and control cables are you using? Are you able to balance the camera while using the RavenEye at all? You should be able to balance this with the raven eye even if you're using a heavy lens / camera. Thanks for watching and the kind words, Ian!
@@keith-knittel - I should have said the Balance check in the app, not balancing. Have just moved up to an R5 but couldn't use my Ronin S fully. I just couldn't get it The Balance check to run when connected via RavenEye - Kept getting "Connect to the gimbal' even though it was in fact connected. I think the app got itself confused. Done the whole setup again and it works now. Suspect temperamental software. The sequence in which you connect is probably the cause. Got to remember to connect via WiFi and then connect RavenEye turning off BT along the way. Complicated and not intuitive. A minor glitch when considering the whole package.
@@ianflint4610 Ahh yeah - that would do it. I haven't ran into that problem, but I'll try it out and see if it has that issue. Thanks for the heads up!
I'm not aware of any way to live stream with the Ronin app using the RavenEye specifically. What kind of live streaming do you need to do with the RS2?
thanks for the detailed write up. any idea what the range on the active track is? trying to figure out if it can film me from further away (like 40-50 ft). thanks!
Hey there Evan, the range for active track is very lens and movement dependent. I wouldn't rely on this as a completely remote camera operator, but for help filming things and keeping them in the frame it can be helpful. I use it for filming objects, but as far as setting it up and filming and taking the place of a camera operator.. the tech isnt there yet in my opinion. It's getting better, but not as good as the drone active tracking yet. Hope that helps! I have another video about the RS2 and raveneye that goes into a little more detail on my channel. "Common problems with the RS2 and Sony cameras" I'd link it here but sometimes TH-cam blocks links for whatever reason
@@keith-knittel Thanks, I'm filming a lot of kitesufing, and I want to see if it can track me back and fourth as I'm kiting, but it sounds like its not there yet. Appreciate you sharing your experience!
Just to be sure, you've to plug the hmdi from the RavenEye to the cam, and the USC C from RavenEye to what? (I run a Lumix FZ300 with Micro HDMI (*3), sortie AV (PAL/NTSC), USB (multi USB/AV) there is as ports) Thanks in advance Edit: My cam isn't in the compatibility list
Trying to hook a rs3 up to Raveneye. Active track just isn’t working (funny because it did for about 10 minutes). Don’t know what I did but now all I get is the the green box. It tracks me but no gimbal movements. Frustrated
I Have a canon eos R and have everything working but it wont record audio! My rode mic, or even my camera mic wont pic up audio while the hdmi is plugged in. Your video was so helpful, and you would be a legend if you could help get me this last bit of the way there!
I don't have an EOS R, but it sounds like that's a very weird problem that definitely shouldn't be happening. I'd check your HDMI settings in your menus. Hopefully a canon user reads this and can give you a more definite answer. Sorry I can't be of more help!
Sorry if that was already answered but why you didn’t use a multi cable that is dedicated for Sony ? Any advantages when you are using a C type cable ?
I do t always use one cable over the other - it’s based on what your shoot needs. Definitely check out the camera compatibility list and see the features you need. Sometimes I don’t use a cable at all. Thanks for watching and commenting

One small glitch that I came across is a limit on what resolution can be filmed and sent over HDMI at the same time
Therefore you can have everything setup & show in the app, but the image freezeses as soon as you press record
To resolve this you need to reduce the video quality for it to work
I have only tried this on my Pansonic Lumix S1, but reading a few other forums it seems to be an issue on the Sony A7 as well
It looks to be a restriction set in the camera, so hopefully will be resolved in firmware updates
For the A7S III, you have to use the Sony multi cable on the micro usb. Record button and autofocus works this way.
Thanks for the info about the a7s iii, Roy!
@@guy.streeter make sure you're using the cable labeled multi. Don't use the other micro usb cable.
Connecting to my Canon 80D. It works perfectly. Thank you.
Great to hear!
Great videos for RS2 newbies. Thanks Keith, keep on the good work!!!
Sorry for the late reply, but thanks for the kind words and watching!
Have ordered the rs 2 pro combo and can't wait to get it. Great to be watching all your content in prep and sure I'm gonna be tapping into all your knowledge when I get this!!
Thats awesome Matt, glad to help out! By now, I'm sure you've gotten your gimbal. Hope it's all going well! Thanks for the support
Thank you so much for the comprehensive breakdown & tutorial. Concise, & brilliant commentary. VERY helpful. Keep up this great channel.

GRACIAS !!! clave desconectar el cable de control de la camara para tener monitoreo al grabar con el raven ME SALVASTE UN CAPO
Thank you so much. New subscribe! I looked and looked, your video was the only one to do a the tutorial correctly!
Glad to help, Chris! I had a tough time figuring this out so decided to make a video about it - thanks for the kind words and subscribing!
@@keith-knittel Unfortunately it seems that 4k doesn't work well to my smart device, only 1080. Lots of lag with 4k.
Thanks for a very helpful video Keith! I'm sure I averted at least one headache by watching this before I tried setting up the Raveneye!
Thanks for the kind words! There are a lot of weird “gotchas” with this gimbal, hope I could save you some headaches!
Dude, really clear good tutorial. Subscribed :) Thx

Hi Keith - I just came across your RS2 videos and you've absolutely nailed it mate! You could give DJI a few good tips on how to create educational videos for their RS2 !!!!
Wow - thanks for the kind words! Sorry for the late reply, but glad you came across my videos! Glad to help and thanks again!

Very helpful thank you
You're welcome! Thanks for watching
Glad it helped! It took me a lot of trial and error to figure it all out haha
Any ideas?
In my ronin app I can’t connect both a gimbal and reveneye at the same time can someone help me please
I'm using the A7Siii. It's a regular HDMI output slot on the camera. What cable do I need to use to connect to the Raveneye?
You can use your Ninja V, or equivalent by running an HDMI cable from the Ninja's HDMI OUT to your camera. This is where Keith showed at 1:40
Running an hdmi from your camera to the in of your monitor, then monitor out to the raveneye will allow you to use the monitor and raveneye at the same time! Lots of cables but it works!
Really helpfull video, thank you! A silly question perhaps, but do you need to be connected to a network to use active track? We love safari and network is not always available
How long does the raveneye last on battery power? I wonder if it’s battery long enough to run without usb power for short shoots? Say 1-2 hours?
Thank you for your video. Is it normal that I can't seem to receive audio for playback? Raven eye with a Nikon Z6II and a RSC2. Thank you
Is it possible to control the focusing with a smartphone? my cams are Fuji xt3/4, the Ronin SC could control focusing with its control wheel...
Great advice, thanks. Subscribed.
Thanks for the kind words and subscribing, Chris!
Can you show some of us how to mount iPhone13 Pro Max? I have my New Ronin DJI RS2
Very helpfull!! Thanks !

You can buy you'd have to use a HDMI from your camera, to the monitor HDMI in, then from the monitor HDMI out to the RavenEye. That seems like it's going to be a large rig, but some shoots my require something like that! Thanks for the kind words
Great video!!

Really need to do a colour grade on this video, more contrast is needed
Hey there Andy, I've been using this TH-cam channel to try out different grades and lighting setups. Some work better than others! Lol. But This was my "very low contrast" phase. I have to admit, I still love the look of low contrast stuff, but product videos probably arent the best fit for that look, I totally agree.
@@keith-knittel Hi Keith , thank you for replying, with such a nice warm response. (Didn’t mean to be so up-front , and also rude on my part)
Thank you for the great DJI Gimbal reviews and set up videos, I’ve just brought a RS 3 pro of the back of watching your videos.
Thanks for watching and the kind words!

can i charge the raveneye from the rs2 gimbal itself?
Is there a way that I can playback videos i recorded in pc remote mode hooked up to the gimbal? My a7c does not allow me to play playback on the camera when in pc remote mode hooked up to the gimbal
Hi, I have a problem. I have the Sony A7S ii and when I shoot in HD, the footage is both transmitted on the camera screen and my phone (via the RavenEye). The problem occurs when I shoot in 4K, namely the camera's screen goes black everytime I press the REC button. Any ideas how to fix it?
can you run the camera with the raveneye without camera control? I run a bmpcc 6k and record to an ssd so my usb-c port is in use already
@@keith-knittel that would be great. Thanks for the help
How do I switch joystick tilt direction. Currently in Game mode. I want airplane mode.
Thank You so much
You're welcome! Glad to help
So my screen is going blank when I plug the HDMI in the Raven eye. It is making this set up unusable for me sometimes it does work though it's weird
@@keith-knittel I was perfectly controlling ISO and focus from gimbal. If I disconnect USBC video will be recorded to iPhone cache.
Hi Keith, good content. With the current setup, Can you change camera settings form the app
Depends on your camera and control cables you’re using. With the a7iii you’ll need to use the usbc cable to control camera settings. Thanks for the kind words and watching
Nice! Thank you SO MUCH! DJI should have handled this (for the price).
You're welcome, glad you found the video helpful. Thanks for watching!
Hi, is it normal the raveneye does not transmit and record audio to the ronin app?
Good ..but Is compatible with Canon C200 ? Thanks for your response Keith . Best regards
I cant say, as I don't have a C200 - but feel free to send me a c200 to test out! Haha. Sorry I can't be of more help, maybe someone can comment here with more experience with the C200 + RS2?
U can use rob ribbon cable it's great for gimbels
Not familiar with that, arent ribbon cables in your camera? To give a video feed to your cameras LCD? Sorry, not familiar with that for a gimbal.
Super helpful💯💯💯
Glad it helped - thanks for watching and commenting
As a Canon R5 user, I’ve been constantly getting the red light. I’ve tried all the cables.
The part I’m stuck on is connecting to the Raveneye wifi. It shows yup but it won’t connect. I’ve connect successfully once but then it disconnected when I hopped onto the app.
Dear Keith , dear ALL
what fps does it transmit? If i shoot FHD 60 fps or 120 fps does it work as well? I am excited about Raveneye, because it completely replaces and quit the need of any control monitor - is there any limitation regarding fps?
Thanks a lot, your feedback is much appreciated 😊
Hey there Edward, I’m not sure what FPS the Raven eye transmits fo the app but while recording 120 FPS on my a7iii the raven eye works as expected. You’re not able to record 120fps in the ronin app, the app is more for monitoring or low-resolution recording. Good question and thanks for watching
@@keith-knittel yeah I know, I dont want to record in the Ronin, I just want to go sure that it handles all incoming signals :)
Hi Keith do you confirm me that with raveneye the usb c camera input is used by it ? In the situation isn't possible to connect external hard drive. Tks
Hey there Guido, I'm not sure I understand your question. Can you elaborate more on that?
Hi Keith, is there any possibility to use the active tracking for live streaming? With or without the raveneye?
(I run a Lumix FZ300 with Micro HDMI (*3), sortie AV (PAL/NTSC), USB (multi USB/AV) there is as ports)
Thanks in advance
Edit: My cam isn't in the compatibility list
Trying to hook a rs3 up to Raveneye. Active track just isn’t working (funny because it did for about 10 minutes). Don’t know what I did but now all I get is the the green box. It tracks me but no gimbal movements. Frustrated
I plug it in but it always says use dedicated rss cable and I've tried the multi cable and every cable...
