I cant believe how insanely easy and to the point your videos are and are exactly what is lacking in most of the other youtube channels. Extremely informative, precise, well made and easy to watch. This channel needs to be among the top of the crop as far as this style of content is concerned... Thanks a lot Chris for all of these gems.
Appreciate you 🙏🏼
Big question: how can i turn a eg rs2 or rs3 into a 100% manual Controlled Pan like the arri 2axis?
What is the name of app?
I totally agree 💯
Chris this is literally the answer to my late night just last night.. I was trying different settings and I was under the impression that the deadband was needed to be set to low to be smoother and I thought of changing everything else except that!!! And now this video came out!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!
Very welcome!
thank you omg . so concise . and short and not long winded . excellent.
I instantly got better footage, thank you so much for delivering information right to the point without too much fluff. I appreciate it so much.
For Ronin gimbals, if you are in a situation where you need to be shooting continuously, you need to tilt a lot and you don't need the wheel for anything else, I'd recommend using it for panning. With a bit of practice, you can really get smooth shots with it while not having to worry about how you hold the gimbal if you were in the pan-tilt-follow mode.
Love how well you explained this video ! Thank youu
Pure gold!I see so many videos but there’s always more to learn, thank you sir!
The deadband settings are key, especially for a more organic and less mechanical feel ... something BIG I don't hear many people talking about with gimbals is don't rely 100% on the machine! Example, when panning, if you don't want the shot to stop with a MECHANICAL feel, then with your arm/hand/body gradually let it fade to a stop. Basically if you want to pan smoothly to 24 inches to your right, then around 20 inches to your right, start to slow down your physical movement so it eases into 24 inch to the right target, maybe even floating a bit past 24 inches. This is a skill to work with the gimbal. Not as tough as a steadicam, but was a huge life changer for me when I realized this approach for making specific gimbal shots feel more organic. It's the same way when braking with a car and pushing the brake pedal .... you can fade into a stop, or you can jam on the brakes and come to a sudden stop. And all that is affected by the sensitivity of the brakes (deadband).
Thanks for this explanation, it has helped me visualise the technique needed to get these smooth shots :)
i have no idea how people use gimble with high deadband, i myself just set it even lower than low, so it can react to any moment i do immediately
Thank you! This is very helpful. I mainly film handheld. Being a new RS3 pro user this definitely gives me a better understanding of those settings, and how they effect movement.
Just in time for the weekend! Thanks Chris!
Thank you bro ! I was starting to think I wasn´t capable of working with a gimball but this explains a lot!
I literally just got mine and I’ve been trying to figure this mess out and you’re honestly the first one to mention this so i appreciate it bro!
What a difference in smoothness. Thanks dude
Thanks for a clear and concise guide :)
Great Advise! Thank You! It was the solution I was looking since I bought this gimbal. This is content of great value.
So simple and so effective !! Thank you so much, I was going crazy with my new z8 on a RS2.
Thanks for the awesome tips! That's exactly what i need for more cinematic footage 🙏
A big help! Straight to the point and my gimbal is set up much much better now. Thank you!
Finally, I can enjoy my rs3 for real 🙏😎
Merci amigo
That's super helpful. Thank you Chris!
Dude! I’ve watched a ton of videos about my RS3 and none of them covered that! That’s just made the biggest difference. Cheers man! Thx so much 🙏 (have Subd)
Thank you for this info. I got my rs3 mini yesterday and I was not even aware that we can set all these options. GJ
Super helpful video and appreciate your channel; thanks for sharing your tips for Sony cams as well!
Thank you very much for this awesome tip. I didnt knew about this, very helpful for tiniest details that I was always strugling to capture like bride and groom rings closeup. Can't wait to put this on practice!😍
This is a complete game changer! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much Chris, I have my first real estate shooting tomorrow and this really helped, cheers!
I also found I can hold the trigger which locks the axis and then do small pans and tilts with the joystick. I recently did a job where I filmed a show on a telephoto lens walking around and this worked really well!
Just perfect! Congrats! After spending weeks on viewing pros “talking numbers” I’ve said to myself - no way and arrived to almost the same settings for all my settings. The only different thing is blocking the joystick to only panning in PF mode and pan&follow in PF mode…and after that I found your video and received the confirmation of my settings! Good luck with your channel!
That was a game changer, thanks so much for sharing!
Thanks Chris for posting this video, I found it VERY helpful and is just that little "secret sauce" gimbal set up that I think takes the RS3 to the next level. Very happy with these settings.
Another super helpful video - I’ve had the RS3 for a while and haven’t changed this so excited to test it out later - Thanks Chris!!
Welcome!
Thanks Chris, clear and concise.
Great freakin video man! This literally popped up in my feed right before I was about to do a deep dive into my settings to attempt to eliminate some of those micro movements. Thanks so much!!
Yup...This is it. I was wondering why my RS3 mini was so sensitive. This fixed the issue. Thank you.
Very good gimbal tut
Thank you! Great suggestions. My shots look a lot smoother now.
Thanks Brother, you served me butter that I haven't gotten from any of the other 20 RS4 videos I've watched.
Really loved the video and the feature you just taught is amazing, as a gimbal will surely try it.
Keep it up bro 😊
Thank you so much sir it's very useful 🙏🙏
Changed to the recommnended setting and can't wait to try it.
Thanks Chris
New gimbal user here (just got the Zhiyun Crane M3) and this is exactly what I needed! I’ve been playing with those parameters and had no idea what that feature meant! Thanks dude!
Great! Thanks. You just made my day. I’ve subscribed cause this is exactly what I needed. Another guy telling me what to do. In a nice way. I told my wife that she should mimic you, just explain when and where to put things, in a calm manner, with good lighting and a subtle voice. Then I can pause, rewind, and eventually I’ll understand how this complicated shit works. Cheers!
More pricelessness from you. Thanks so much Chris. 💛🙏🏼
Appreciate you!
Bro your video literally changed my life. Today was my ceremonial shoot day and kind of disappointed but now, your insights gonna change everything. Great thanks for sharing this video ❤
I'm from Croatia (Europe) and learn so much from you!
Thanks Chris. A great tutorial. will help me no end.
Will try this settings. Thanks man.
Thanks, Chris. I will increase the deadband on my RS2 and try it out. Great video. And yes, I already knew what deadband is, just not in the context of gimbal tuning!
Excellent video and even better tip! Thank you!!!
Thanks for the tips
the video I've needed all along haha We all try and walk in as straight of a line as possible but you know, hands twitch and such and shots have been repeated. Great explanation and I changed my settings to match so I'm stoked to try on next shoot. Flying the fx30 / fx6 on rs3 pro. Many cheers!
Bro I love you. Best video I watched. To the point and lovely.
thank you bro
Thank you for this man 👌
Thanks for the video
Great video I was looking for
Nice video, very helpful and to the point!👍
So useful, thanks very much!!
Dude I was searching for a video for exactly this topic! Searching for about an hour mind you watched probably 10-12 videos got frustrated took a break resumed search found your video and 🤯 EXACTLY what I was looking for!!! Thank you for the info.,…yeah….subscribed & hit that like
Excellent video, thanks..!
omg thnak you so much, ive never got on with my ronin after using the weebil, always thinking it was worse but actually it was just this setting! Huzzah! thank you
Thank You 😊
Great Chris! Thank you!!
Dude just .. thank you !
Great stuff, thank you!
Great advice. Never realized this.
This was incredibly informative. I will now go and correct my gimbal. Just because of how sharp the movement is, I usually settle for handheld camerawork. We will see if that changes now.
It will make a huge difference!
Man this is some good info. Thanks!
you LEGITIMATELY just changed my life. from using an Xbox controlled for flight sim, i always put low deadbands and somehow applied the same logic here lol. widened the deadbands and ghr gimbal works like I've always wanted it to!
Welcome 🤗
@@chrisbrockhurst What is the name of app?
Thank you
Thanks!!! Great video!
Thanks !!!
This was sick to know, thank you!
Wow no one ever talks about this ever thank you!!
All I can say is wow.....This has changed my life. I been using gimbals since the ronin M first came out and i could never get any gimbals to be butterly smooth until now.....THANK YOU SIR
Glad I could help!
thanks bro.💛
You legend mate, knew about deadband in context but you explained it perfectly, I have one question, how do you mitigate the side to side movement whilst walking backwards on the pan axis?
Thaks a lot for this video
Thank you liked and subscribed 🙌
Nice tips - thanks for sharing (appreciate just how long it takes to produce that 5 minute sound-bite)! Now I totally get that it's good for every operator to know their gear intimately but wouldn't it be nice if DJI gave us the option to create profiles in the phone-app from which to automagically load up our preferences dependent on the shot?
Amazing tutorial. Thank you for it. If it`s possible could you share best settings for FPV and 360 mode
Great info
Great video. I mostly use the R2 system on movies and am constantly adjusting my deadband - its the secret sauce of the ronin systems. One quick note is that I'll often run a higher deadband on my tilt axis than my pan, and helps to take out footsteps, especially for running and chase sequences.
I'm trying to find 'deadband' on the menu for the Ronin RS2, haven't found it yet. Does it go by another name? The RS2 uses terms like smoothness and speed and stiffness, corresponding to each axis.
Oops, I found it in the Raveneye software, under user profile.
So when you walk do you use the tilt axis? I thought is better to set it to pan follow only
@@petrub27it depends on the shot and the focal length but I generally need control over tilt axis so I keep it on.
wow wow wow thank you man1!!!!!!!!!!!!
you rocks buddy! thank you :)
Awesome 🤯, Weebill newbie here. Thank-you!
A few seconds of your video is all it took for me to subscribe!
Thank you for all your knowledge and such a clear explanation.
Go deadband! 😂
That video is dope and not gonna lie, i Will never ever use a gimbal without the dual grip you have on! Its a life changer
Great Video!!!
Thanks!
Very informative, thanks! Have you done Vertical shooting? What settings you recommend using the modes available?
This is great stuff. My gimbal doesn't have a deadband setting, so I shoot at a high framerate and slow it down in post to get slow movement. Of course, whether this is useful depends on the subject...
Thanks for sharing Chris, It would be very helpful, f you could make a video abut the the PTF, PF and FPV modes, how to use it, when to use it etc, I have been watching many videos about tips and tricks on the RS 2 or 3 Gimbal, and I couldnt find anything helpufl. thanks mate, cheers
Hi Chris. Good tip. Thanks. Do you have a video by any chance on the best auto focus for a sony camera while using a gimbal?
I had hard time using gimbal for many years, thanks for solving out the dead zone problem, this make my wrapping shot around group of people smooth a lot! but another thing I want to ask, should we turn off in-camera stabilization during gimbal?
Just as I thought with my Old Ronin SC the deadband was set to hight. But I have never actually calibrated a gimble before must check Thank for the video man
Bro god sent you
That’s a great tip Chris. It worked for me, thank you. Quick question about those handgrips you use on your gimbal, any idea if i can find something similar for ronin sc ? Thanks
Dude, subbed
huge huge super thaaaaaaaaaaaaankssssssss!!!
