    Hopefully, this helps out with some of the confusing Sony setups out there. Are you having any other issues with the RS2 and your Sony cameras? What is the setup you like using?

      Hi! I got an issue even I change to 1080p. When I connect the camera to the gimball I lost feed of the Raven eye in my smartphone. It totally blank while I can see my A7III screen. The only way to see the Raven eye feed is to disconnect the camera from gimball but I can't use the rec button then. Can u help me?

      @@inessupertramp Which cable are you using? The USB-C cable?

    • @inessupertramp
      @inessupertramp 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@keith-knittel I used the cable Sony multi to connect A7III to RSC2 but it never works so I used the other cable that worked. But when I got the Raven eye with those cable I can't have at the same time the Raveneye feed and the possibility to use the rec button of the final cause is not connect to a7iii. I think it's my Sony multi that got a problem because I found so many videos that said it's the only cable working for the A7III. So Amazon is sending me a new RSC2 box with all the cables. I will see it it will work

      Using the USB-C cable with PC Remote for my a7C and RSC2 disables Face/Eye tracking for autofocus. I didn't realise this until recently. Multi cable doesn't work at all as the a7C doesn't have this port. Very poor design choices by Sony.

    It's years later but a lot of this still applies. I am new the DJI world. I just got an RS3 and Raven Eye. This gives me some things to try. My biggest issue is that if you hit the record button in the app it doesn't record to the camera. Maybe you just have to hitrecord on the actual gimbal? The directions/tutorials that DJI supplies are subpar at best. Thank you for the help!

    Hi! Very helpful video! I just bought RS2 and connected to my A7SIII. I upgraded firmware on Raven Eye.
    It's possible to connect camera with USB-C to USB-C cable (gimbal's top port), HDMI to Raven Eye's HDMI-C and then USB-C on Raven Eye to gimbal's bottom slot. This way I can control camera with gimbal and with the app (including start and stop recording with a button and with a phone, changing exposure setting, etc.). It also works at FX3.

    @Keith Knittel, I'm on the RSC2, I'm not sure if it's different from the RS2.. but the big issue I'm having is inconsistency with recording 4k video and keeping the activetrack/camera control active. On a fresh bootup, and the first initial "hit record" everything works smoothly with 4K... when I press stop - that's it. When I try to press record through the app again, active track and camera control through the app is disabled.
    It's very finicky. I am using the setup as prescribed, the USB-C to Multi, the USB-C Raveneye to USB-C Gimbal, and of course the HDMI to Micro-HDMI to the Sony A7RIII. Boot sequence is as described in your video as well.

    • @brianschmittgens9323

      Did you ever nail down this issue? I was planning on getting either the RS2 or RSC2 this week to use with my a7RIII, but it seems like a lot of people have trouble with that camera on these gimbals using ActiveTrack. It's not a feature I need immediately, but I want to make sure it's an option in the future if/when I do need it.

    The newest firmware update might have fixed the a7siii USB-C issues. I am now able to plug into the USB C on the the camera and connect directly to the RS 2 port without issues. In the Raveneye App I have control over ISO, Shutter, Aperture and can run/stop from both the app and the REC button on the RS2 body. Hopefully other users have the same experience! It’s super handy now.

    This was really helpful, thank you Keith! The start-up sequence has proved faultless in my tests so far, compared with my previous attempts. Have there been any improvements on how well the Raveneye keeps a target central since you created this video? I've found that the location in the frame where you first create the tracking frame is important, eg. if you want the subject to stay in the centre, draw your box around it when it's in the centre and it'll do a pretty good (but not perfect) job of keeping it more or less in the centre. Thanks for that seq to start up for future use of this setup. I'm still messing with the DJI RSC 2 before I start recording a music video. My stupid a7IV gave me an overheating headache and thought it was linked to all of these things running, but it's just a Sony brainfart and updated the thermo threshold setting to High. (SONY, WHAT THE HECK?) That camera is not supposed to overheat. That's why I got it, but on the first try here in Florida, 🤯 OH warning.🤯
    The ports on the left side of the camera were somewhat warm, so I thought it was because all those ports were running hard.
    I miss the old days of real large cameras that never had any of these issues, floating on my bulky analog, terminator looking, back breaking stabilizer... Vest, and all.😂😂😂😂

    Fantastic video thank you for sharing your knowledge of the issues you have encountered. I'm using a Sony a6600 with the RSC2, not sure if is my lack of understanding the tech, which is very possible as i am still learning and have a long way to go but, the whole system and having to use the app, phone, reveneye, gimble and camera, to unlock certain functionality is insane and I just don't understand why DJI cant streamline the system and create a fully working environment with gimble, camera, and monitor. Seems clunky lazy and a money grab to get you to purchase more equipment than shouldn't really be necessary. Maybe it is just me but I feel that we have so much tech these days and this should be easily possible.

    • @keith-knittel
      @keith-knittel  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a lot of tech with this setup for sure. The problem (I’m assuming) is that there are a lot of cameras out there and they are all different. Some features/pain points are with the cameras themselves (not being able to see your screen on an a7iii while shooting in 4K with an hdmi out is a fault of the camera - not the gimbal or raveneye) there are tons of cameras and things, it’s exciting that this is possible - and once the tech matures even more things will be better in the future I’m sure. But I understand your frustration! Took a lot to get this working

  • @Paco_TG
    @Paco_TG ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Keith! After a lot of tests I have found out that the problem is in the PROXY setting, if you deactivate it, you will see the image on the external devices, Gimbal RS3 PRO and Iphone in my case, and NOT on the camera, always in 4k, on the other formats does not occur.
    If you Activate PROXY when pressing REC on the RS3 PRO you will only see the image on the camera, and not on external devices. I was thinking of an additional screen like the Ninja, the Iphone eats up the battery right away, or going to the compatible ones that Sony says, the article below. LOL !! 😅
    I have found this from Sony itself, it tells you what is visible on the camera and on the external device depending on the format, search this title from Sony: "When the camera is connected to an external device via HDMI during movie recording, no image appears on the camera monitor." Or in Sony Camera Online User Guide, search file format -> video -> read below, where it says NOTE.
    Best regards!!

    great video 🙂I use the USB-C cable with the Sony A7S III. The USB-C cable I put in the top port(RSS) of the gimbal. After that I connect the raveneye to the lower port on the giimbal and the single USB-C port on the raveneye. not the USB-C(RSS) port next to the HDMI port. With this setup I can start/stop a video and can also change the camera settings. For example, I change my iso via the dial function on the RS2. The problem with this setup, however, is that you cannot view the recordings made on the cam. You have first disconnect the USB-C cable between the cam and the gimbal.

BTW, I have the RSC2 and love it! I was hoping that the addition of active track would provide even more functionality. I was only 1/2 right. No wonder, B&H doesn't carry it. The documentation bites!

    It's sad Sony supplies such a bad API to manufacturers. All the other brands have 1 cable for everything, we have a mixed bag of everything, working half of the time. It is pretty frustrating to have to do so much trial and error to get find out which things work. I think since the A7III and A6400 have similar problems it's a processing issue? but the A7S III has a stronger processor it can handle more computing power? Let's hope the A7IV has lots of horsepower to fix all of these issues. Thanks for watching and your thoughts!

      @@keith-knittel as I understand it’s because of the underlying implementation of their USB C port. It’s powerful enough, but when plugged in the A7iii thinks it’s powered to a pc and it switches all it’s power to that port, eliminating a lot of functionality for nothing. In fact, it's me who did just one error. I'm feeling a little bit stup... 😣 With RS 2, so many cables are provided to us, and it's absolutely essential to take the one on which is written "USB-C TO Sony Multi". With another USB-C to Micro USB cable provide in the pack, it work well for adjusting ISO, aperture ... BUT you will not be able to capture photo if you don't plug THE Sony cable.
      So it's not a firmware problem. It works well now 😃
      Just two days to see that I had not plug the right cable 😓.
      Also, it's interesting to see that with the "USB-C TO Micro USB" cable plug on Sony multi, it possible to control focus, ISO, shutter and aperture.
      So for those who don't be able to capture photo (and if it is the only problem encountered), make sure to use THE "USB-C TO Sony Multi" !
