*LYRICS - Back Home Again* ------------ There's a storm across the valley, the clouds are rollin' in The afternoon is heavy on your shoulders There's a truck out on the four lane, a mile or more away The whinin' of his wheels just makes it colder He's an hour away from ridin' on your prayers up in the sky Ten days on the road are barely gone There's a fire softly burnin', supper's on the stove But it's the light in your eyes that makes him warm Hey, it's good to be back home again Sometimes this old farm feels like a long lost friend Yes, an' hey, it's good to be back home again There's all the news to tell him, how'd you spend your time An' what's the latest thing the neighbors say And your mother called last Friday, 'Sunshine'* made her cry And you felt the baby move just yesterday Hey, it's good to be back home again Sometimes this old farm feels like a long lost friend Yes, an' hey, it's good to be back home again An' all the time that I can lay this tired old body down (And feel your fingers feather soft on me) (It's) the kisses that I live for an' the love that lights my way (The happiness that livin' with you brings me) It's the sweetest thing I know of, just spending time with you It's the little things that make a house a home Like a fire softly burnin', supper's on the stove But it's the light in your eyes that makes me warm Hey, it's good to be back home again, yes it is Sometimes this old farm feels like a long lost friend Yes, an' hey, it's good to be back home again Yes, an' hey, it's good to be back home again *A 1973 movie Album: Live Sessions, vol. 03
John Denver was mocked and bullied by the rock and contemporary music press for writing these songs. 50 years later his compositions sound fresh and fulfilling. The Petersens are worthy artists to continue his legacy of poetry and music. Well done and much thanks.
Saw the general show about two weeks ago. Fantastic, superb and so forth. our seats were 10 feet from microphones they are warm and personable on stage fortunately our trip only 150 miles from Jefferson City Mo Safe driving

Matt is absolutely TERRIFIC in every way on this classic John Denver song, really great singing, wonderful on the guitar, and sweet harmonizing with Katie and Ellen. My personal favorite version of this song, even better than the original!
I'm a HUGE John Denver fan! I even met him and sang with him once! We talked about how honored he felt whenever anyone covered his music. Hed be very happy to hear you all! You did a fantastic job! I hope you do more John Denver, I think you'd all sound great doing Annie's Song! Thanks so very much!
The more I listen to this song the more I like it! It's like the song on an album you didn't like at first but ends up being your favorite over the years!
“It’s the sweetest thing I know of just spending time with you.” That statement applies to many things including watching the best family group ever on TH-cam. Thank you! God Bless!
I've been playing this song many years in small brew pubs and restaurants around this world. As a soldier whose had the privilege to travel all over this great planet we live on, this song has been a great song and well received by every place I was fortunate to play it. Your version is all about what it means. It always reminds me of returning home from a long deployment and seeing my wife and family, and being back home again. Great job.
Just put myself in the old chair on that porch with a warm cup of coffee. Matt and the band are sitting there, as they are singing this ole John Denver toon. Ah, my own personal heaven.
I'm from Carthage/Joplin, MO and although I haven't lived there for 35 years, listening to y'all always brings me home. My wife and I even honeymooned in Branson 42 years ago. We'll make it out to see you live sometime. Thanks for what you do!!!
Probably my favorite John Denver song, and you folks nailed it. It's one of my go to's when I'm just sitting around strumming my old Taylor. A quiet, simple easy song with a beautiful melody. And I really love this arrangement. Thanks for putting it out there!
I think that the thing that makes you guys so special is how connected you are to your souls and how connected your souls are to the One who made them. You are doing what you love, and you can be confident in what God made you to do and who God made you to be, because you know that you were created in His image. You share a unique connection to your Creator, and that makes you genuine. Thank you for such wonderful music by the way.
Wow. This is such sweet old-timey down-home sentiment. Denver was quite the composer. Along with being an avid environmentalist and supporter of good causes in general. Thank you Petersens for keeping his songs alive. Again, you bat it outta the ballpark.
John Denver was a wonderful musician and provided us with so much simple yet long lasting music. This brings back wonderful memories of that time. Thank you!
We saw John Denver at Red Rocks in 1973, and he opened with this song. The Colorado crowd roared when he got to the chorus the first time. So many wonderful memories. Thanks for a great version.
I believe in music as the language of souls. and I believe that The Petersen make a better humanity with their music, their example, their love for family and God. Thank you Matt and each of you great musicians.
I’ve listened to Matt and Katie’s version every week since it’s come out. Something magic happened during that performance. I get goosebumps every time I listen to it, happy to see you guys play it again
I completely agree. I've commented about that performance before. They started out singing the song "to the listener" but as the song went on they more and more started singing it to each other. It was indeed something magical, like you said.
For many years the most popular singers for me were Johnny Cash-country and John Denver-folk music, this year the Petersens and Emmett joined them.Beutiful song, perfect voice, great performance, thanks.
Found your wonderful band in the you tube recommendations. So beautiful and talented. Love Emmett too. He makes your band and family complete. Congratulations on your success.

*LYRICS - Back Home Again*
------------
There's a storm across the valley, the clouds are rollin' in
The afternoon is heavy on your shoulders
There's a truck out on the four lane, a mile or more away
The whinin' of his wheels just makes it colder
He's an hour away from ridin' on your prayers up in the sky
Ten days on the road are barely gone
There's a fire softly burnin', supper's on the stove
But it's the light in your eyes that makes him warm
Hey, it's good to be back home again
Sometimes this old farm feels like a long lost friend
Yes, an' hey, it's good to be back home again
There's all the news to tell him, how'd you spend your time
An' what's the latest thing the neighbors say
And your mother called last Friday, 'Sunshine'* made her cry
And you felt the baby move just yesterday
Hey, it's good to be back home again
Sometimes this old farm feels like a long lost friend
Yes, an' hey, it's good to be back home again
An' all the time that I can lay this tired old body down
(And feel your fingers feather soft on me)
(It's) the kisses that I live for an' the love that lights my way
(The happiness that livin' with you brings me)
It's the sweetest thing I know of, just spending time with you
It's the little things that make a house a home
Like a fire softly burnin', supper's on the stove
But it's the light in your eyes that makes me warm
Hey, it's good to be back home again, yes it is
Sometimes this old farm feels like a long lost friend
Yes, an' hey, it's good to be back home again
Yes, an' hey, it's good to be back home again

Thanks Liz. I never knew that the Sunshine line was about a 70's movie. Always found it a bit strange but now it really makes sense.👍
Thanks, Liz!
Thanks Liz! You're a marvel.
@@FrankvdMuijsenberg I had to look into it as it didn't make sense! John Denver actually provided much of the soundtrack for the movie ;)
And thanks guys!

I agree!
Agreed, never understood the lack of appreciation for him.
The enduring power of a song that touches the heart and soul. The critics didn’t last
Honestly his songs are more timeless in my opinion.
Yes and he was so underrated. His songs will always resonate with me and we truly lost an amazing human.
That has to be the happiest Mom in the world making music with her children.
John Denver wrote it beautifully and the Peterson preformed it just as beautifully. Love them❤️❤️
'Pure dead brilliant', as we say in Glasgow, UK. 🇬🇧
We're coming to see you, in Branson, next month! Driving 1000 miles just to see you in person.

Oh Matt you have the voice of an angel so elegant and sweet, and the strums of the guitar were so rhythmic and true.

Thank you all for the blessings you bring through music!
Great job Matt. Keep at it Aaron - the jug is trickier than it looks.
Yeah, ya gotta blow very gently vertically across the opening. Then you get a very low frequency, 10-20 Hz.
That is my only musical talent.
Lovely song performed wonderfully by Matt on lead vocal, with the usual sterling support from the rest of the ensemble.
When you get tired of country music, a song like this comes out. Thanks for the memories. John Denver is proud of it.
I love that old song. Denver always wore his heart on his sleeve. Ya'll honored that song real well. Thank you.
Just put myself in the old chair on that porch with a warm cup of coffee. Matt and the band are sitting there, as they are singing this ole John Denver toon. Ah, my own personal heaven.
