@@МаусГастон When it came out in 1962, most people considered it folk music and considered Bob Dylan to be a folk music performer. In 1965 Dylan played an electric guitar at the Newport Folk Festival, opening a doorway from folk music into rock and roll. He went through that doorway, as did others (e.g., Jerry Garcia & Bob Weir transitioned from Mother McCree's Uptown Jug Champions to the Grateful Dead).
@@qitrodz I'd agree it is (and was) more folk than pop with both Dylan and Peer, Paul, and Mary. I also preferred PP&M's version to Dylan's but I think it was mostly because of his more nasal sound than theirs. Plus, they harmonized beautifully, even acapella. I loved hearing it here with the mandolin & banjo. It added a whole new dimension to the sound.
Thank you SO much, The Petersens, with each note you play, your music's voice whispers a reminder to treasure the sheer beauty in the simplicity of every day. The world could use a little more sparkle, and you all are just the ones to provide it! 🎼💫✨🌎🙏😊
Wonderful addition to the group and lovely performance! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ Fresh, new and beautiful! Thank you, friends! You always meet my expectations. Real Folk Art as it is!
I love the precious father/daughter connection. A lifetime memory for them both. And That sweet young voice that can naturally hit those notes without effort. A pleasure to listen to.
What a gem of a song from long ago. I love to hear young artists cover songs from my youth. Your parents raised you well. This song has been covered by many great folk singers, but none better than this version! 👍👍 Love the arrangement - especially when the bass kicks in!!
They are the gift that keeps giving with their rich and velvety arrangements, wonderful musicianship and personal presence. Love to see them tour Australia.
Dear Petersens, although I'm a die-hard metal fan, I love your music. Thank you very much for your inspiring interpretations. A ray of hope in dark times.
I don't know what it is, but there is something in those smiles that makes me smile every time. Thanks for taking me back to the sixties for a few minutes.
I just keep coming back to this song. I love how The Petersens take an iconic song and make it their own. Their arrangements are amazing. And, Julianne's vocals here are perfect for this song. As others have mentioned, the mandolin sounds great as do the harmonies from Ellen and Katie. I grew up listening to Bob Dylan and, to me, this is just a perfect cover of his song.
God blessed us with this family. Emmett is the Goat. I haven’t seen him since friendship/Washington Maine, circa 2000 (ish) thank you guys. For everything
I absolutely love these beautiful kids! Incredible voices. They always do a great job. Beautiful video and presentation. God bless you and all here! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Very nice and interesting arrangement. And Emmet's dobro in "dialogue" with Katie's fiddle is something special. Can't wait to see you live in Cologne again this year in August.
Beautiful cover of this Dylan classic👍Vocal harmonies are just perfect and so are the instrumental parts👌Thanks for sharing your amazing talent with us! Greetings from France 🇫🇷 🎶 🌹
Julianne I really love your rendition of this timeless classic Folk Song. I can't thank you enough for doing this beautiful song. As always I look forward to the next song by the amazing Peterson.
Starting into the weekend with a new video from "The Petersens". And with a wonderful song in a new version and arrangement 👍. What else shall I expect ? Nothing ! I feel so good and confident, thank you Petersens !!! Greetings from Germany 😘.
Thanks for starting off the big weekend for us with a classic so old that I was young when Bob sang it. God bless our Band and all reading this. be safe this weekend
Heard you all last week in Branson...wonderful! Loved the concert...personal, yet very professional! And I had not heard of you before! Now listening to your many beautiful ballads on Utube! My husband was so pleased to hear you have Norwegian blood!
How lovely it is to hear Miss Julianne’s mandolin solos at the opening and close of this piece. Sometimes this delicate, enchanting instrument can be drowned out by the more assertive instruments. Another treat would be to hear Julianne play an Irish mandolin on a track or two.
Grazie ragazzi, bellissima canzone che conosco da quando ero bambino. Delle parole magnifiche che dovrebbero sempre ascoltare i nostri capi di stato. Soprattutto ai nostri giorni.
It's such an amazing arrangements....will be attending the concert in London in august (ticket already in pocket) so would be great to hear you play this live....❤
What a great rendition of this old song! Julianne's voice was perfect for the arrangement and I loved how you each came in and faded out with the instruments! Of course, as always the harmonies were gorgeous!! Well done, Petersens! (and Emmit) 😉
Another incredible performance! I loved the intro and outro with just Julianne and Matt playing. Thier mandolin/guitar combo was beautiful and perfectly done!
WOW’ now I’m a believer, that was down right the best version of that song I have ever heard… Thank You for sharing with us. By the way I subscribed and hit the like button, that was a no brainer.. Thanks
Welcome to the Fantastic Petersen Fan Club community! 🎉 You should check out Julianne’s vocals on Make You Feel My Love, which the band did last summer…
Julianne confidently driving the rhythm! (No dimples and eye rolling, or big sister to the rescue). I was not expecting la-la-la in this particular song, but the vocal harmony was great. I especially like how Katie's vocals float on top. The dobro entrance was cool. Matt's touch on the guitar excellent. Just my favourite bits.
I'm so excited to be going to their concert in Cork City, Ireland ! I've been a big fan for years and can't believe I'll see them live !!! Can't wait !!❤
God has blessed Julianne Petersen with one of the most unique and beautiful voices. Her distinctive emotional subtlety and force are in the same class as Karen Carpenter, Bjork, Victory Boyd, Lisa Gerrard, and Aurora.
Wow! What a poignant arrangement of one of Bob Dylan's greats. There are so many accolades I could give but I'd be here all night. During the instrumental, though, Katie's fiddle and Emmet's dobro sang to each other. Gave me goose bumps.
I think it's a bit unfair how an entire family can have it all like all the talent and all the good looks as well! I only found them today and I'm already addicted to their music😂❤ Amazing ❣️
Once again a truly innovative and perhaps truly unique arrangement of this great classic. Julz singing it by changing the sequence of some notes is fantastic. The dobro and fiddle solos are truly something precious that give that touch of particular beauty to the whole ensemble. Then the harmonies of Ellen and Katie, the rhythm parts with Matt, Karen, Ellen and Julianne herself. In short, great cover for this great song of peace by the great legend Bob Dylan. Thanks guys, as always! ❤
Hey Roberto! Great comment, as always! This song was simply lovely- a perfect fit for the Petersens… I notice Julianne’s mandolin skills are getting richer. Today was a perfect example, do you agree? Have a terrific weekend!
@@emmajo4880 Hi Emma. Thanks for the kind words, as always. I also read your comment and I liked it a lot. Going to pubs in Ireland and simply playing a few songs can bring great insights for the whole band. And this song proves it. Julianne has certainly grown and has become increasingly aware of her abilities, which are truly many. The idea of starting and closing the song with just the mandolin was truly brilliant. Her ability to play the instrument is improving more and more and I think she is starting to bring it with her into the recording studio too. A great weekend to you too, Emma!!!
@@Roberto-pd8vn It is a HUGE dream and high item on my bucket list to play music beside the musicians of Ireland and be a part of that kind of community for a little while- I don't believe there is anything quite like that kind of special! If Julianne decides to bring her mandolin skills to the recording studio, as you suspect (and I hope) she will, I think that will be the icing on the cake to The Petersens' future albums- even though the cake was wonderful before! We shall see... 😉
That is a beautiful, heartfelt, and amazing performance of this classic song. I especially enjoyed the vocals of Julianne, Katie, and Ellen. It is so nice to see the band venture into the folk genre.
My family saw them at the beginning of June. In fact, we made the trip just to see them. They did not disappoint. It was terrific! Wished we could have enjoyed the meet and greet, but we had to get to Top of the Rock. Also great!

Actually being able to hear Julianne's mandolin loud and clear was the icing on the cake for this video!
Indeed, a surprising development: We can hear the Mandolin! 😃 May this astonishing turn of events continue...

Have you seen the Bohemian Rhapsody video? Ridiculous talent in this group.
For two decades I've been longing to hear Alison Krauss cover this song. I do believe you just filled that hole in my soul.
Longing to hear the Petersen's perform "The Boxer" by Simon & Garfunkel" that was also previously covered by Alison Krauss and Shawn Colvin.
Fabulous rendition of a classic. The sisters harmony is absolutely exquisite.

Beautiful rendition ...... as usual from this great group of musicians . You never fail me .
