    The really appealing thing I find about Berkut, aside from the voice acting, is that he's basically a protagonist of a Shakespeare tragedy. The whole arc of a nobleman who has a pure, caring lover, but gets obsessed with something to the point of madness and killing his lover before he himself is slain sounds more Shakespearean than any other modern story I've heard. And I don't even like Shakespeare stuff.

      It’s a very good cautionary tale about how pride can be the downfall of people and ruin a perfectly good thing.

    I keep saying, you don't have to accept Eddie as the villain of 3H, but you got to accept that she is, by the literal definition of the word, the antagonist of the game.

    • @danielpatterson1576
      @danielpatterson1576 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I agree with her being the antagonist. I don’t think Three Houses has a true villian, since when you take all the routes into account it makes it clear the goal was to show how nothing is so black and white in war, it’s all muddled in the grey. If there is a true villian in Three Houses, it’s the Agarthans, TWSITD. They are the ones who created Edelgard and disillusioned her to Seiros, they are the ones behind the tragedy of Duscur. They’re the ones pulling the strings in the background to cause all this chaos and death.
      But as for an antagonist, even someone considered to be a hero is the antagonist of someone else’s story. In that sense, she’s hands down the best antagonist in the series.
      But now talking about TWSITD has me thinking about how it’s the massive flaw in Azure Moon’s story since it’s the only route where the Agarthans aren’t dealt with. For whatever reason Dimitri couldn’t give less of a crap about dealing with the people who murdered his parents and tortured his cousin into starting a massive war. Even in Crimson Flower they tell you in Jeritza’s ending that Byleth ends up going and decimating Shambala, so why they couldn’t do that in Azure Moon and instead left a massive plot hole at the very end is so frustrating.

    Rhea deserves a mention, she has most of Nergal's qualities whitout his flaws

    • @FireEmbros
      @FireEmbros  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      Her arc as a villain for me has always been really strange, because for 3 routes she's like.. let's just let things maintain the status quo she created and defend that within reason, and in the other she goes to some extreme levels of destruction that are otherwise not seen anywhere else. It's that inconsistency that ultimately didn't lead me to considering her as one of the better written villains, but I do agree she's worth a mention!

    • @hadoukenfighter
      @hadoukenfighter 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@FireEmbros Personally I can't really consider her a villain most of the time, it's mostly just in one route in the main game and being a secondary villain in hopes on two routes, and even then in the GW route she's acting purely in self defense and doesn't even understand why Claude is trying to kill her. I'll make another comment after I've seen the video if I have thoughts on anyone else. But I'd say she's a "sometimes" villain more then a full blown one which would make it hard for me to place her anywhere on a list.

    the reason why I love Travant as a villain so much is the ambiguity of his character. He can totally be viewed in 2 very different lights. There is a valid reading to either view him as a sympathetic or cruel character.
    I like his ending too where after Arion strikes his Altena, Travants adopted daughter, Travant takes a step back and says "fuck it" and goes into battle without Gungir knowing he will face his death there. That one character moment has so many layers behind it and adds to the fascination of what is really going on with this character we know as Travant.

    My top 10:
    10: Gharnef.
    9: Ashnard.
    8: Nergal.
    7: Travant.
    6: Zephiel.
    5: Edelgard/Rhea.
    4: Sephiran.
    3: Berkut.
    2: Lyon.
    1: Zelgius/The Black Knight.

  • @hadoukenfighter
    @hadoukenfighter 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    The One thing I give Gharnef is that he's gets stuff done and he's an actual threat gameplay wise considering everything it takes for ONE person to kill him, with some of the other villains they can be slain by anyone in your group. He isn't super interesting but you could do FAR worse for your first villian, Honestly I feel more emotions from him then I do with like, Thales. also props for Jarod being on HM because he's a great minor villian. I do agree with Edelgard because while she might be the secondary villain of the game, she's the most interesting villian in the game, she is the driving force, without her you wouldn't have a plot, or atleast the plot that we got. While my opinion of her changes daily, I'd rather have her exist then not, the game would've been far more boring if Thales was the driving force in the spotlight.
    Gosh that's twice I've dunked on Thales in the same comment, I can't help it, the dude's a worse Nergal.

    Shoutout to Hardin for being a very intersting and conflicted character. He should have taken Gharnef's place imo. I think Hardin is the best villain in Arkenia because you spent the first game with him which makes his betrayal a big gut punch to the player. The story behind his corruption is pretty relatable as he begins to doubt himself and his relationship with princess Nyna. The dark sphere makes him confront the darkest places of his heart, and he falls to his inner desires. I just really vibe with him and his corruption.
    edit: Alright, I am done with my villain takes. Great list. I want to see you two collab in the future.

      So I probably should've put Hardin as an honorable mention, but for some reason I may have chucked it up to : Gharnef doing Gharnef things, but I definitely agree he has his own agency and is a force to be reckoned with!
      Thank you for the comment and for watching :)!

    Some people don't like how the Black Knight acttually has an idenityt because it removes the mysrtery, but I think differently. You learn his motivations of being a one dimensonal viillain under ashnard, then see him become more pragmatic with the Dawn Brigade, all while being the top general in Begnion, all while truly serving Sephiran. Such a rich and complex character. Awesome. I'm a Tellius fanboy tho ngl

    I think Nergal's character in fire emblem had awesome specific qualities. Similar to that of Kai in Kfp 3. Nergal could steal opponent's quintessences, like kai takes "chi". Other unique powers include morph creation, and the most powerful dark magic.
    Nergal could take fire dragon's quintessence only if he was well written in the game. His true powers never got that recognition and representation to show how awesome character he is, like kai was given in kfp 3. I mean i really feel bad for him, that such a guy could be beaten from just poor weapon wielding guys. Btw i am so glad on his appearance in fire emblem heroes. With some of awesome stats and role, which i sought five years ago, although the game is still unavailable in my region.
