Yeah i was surprised when the enemy did that too but it was ch 8 for me. I robbed an enemy of his stuff, thought i could capture him next turn, then was shocked to see him just get another axe from the store. Also fun fact that I learned trying to do ch 18 double objective without killing soldiers or the 8 knights, if an enemy unit is left without weapons, but sees their ally has a spare to use (or is asleep while holding it) they borrow it to use as their own. Those cheeky pricks knew what I was trying to do and made it harder to clear.
Thracia is such an amazing game. It was the last Fire Emblem from the creator of Fire Emblem, Shouzou Kaga and he was known for putting a lot of interesting mechanics in the game like 11:30 . There's other interesting mechanics too like if bosses run out of weapon durability they'll take their soldier's weapons. I don't know if it's still true, but the enemy is very "chaotic" in this game and for some reason very tiny changes will change how the enemy AI works. If you play the GBA Fire Emblems this is not true, you can always force the enemies to attack certain characters because they have a priority, maybe something simple like they'll attack whoever has the lowest defense. But Thracia is really weird with enemy AI, something as simple as your inventory item order will change who the enemy AI chooses to attack. You have great editing as well, great video!

Amazing video, I've always wondered if a run like this was possible, or more specifically how many kills it would actually take. I knew Bharat would need to die for sure but I hadn't considered that crazy Gustav situation, amazing work with that! Shame about Bharat but otherwise this highlights one of my favourite things about Thracia: you *can* save basically everyone, but you're not going to. There's therefore this constant air of moral greyness, where you always have the ability to spare people, but rarely actually have the option. This video proves it. This is also why I think Karin and Xavier, and to an extent Gomez, are so perfect in this game. They're all sympathetic enemies that can obviously be recruited (or spared), but at the same time their recruitment (or sparing) methods are so obscure that fresh players won't be able to, and therefore have to kill them even though there was no specific state blocking them from being saved, just mechanical quirks and the unforgiving gameplay in general.
I found out about the enemies buying new weapons from the shop whilst dicking around in chapter 10 and wondering where these red units were going. Such a sick detail. Those transitions are so cool.

But I just finised playing chapter 8 of Binding blade on NORMAL and Legance has 17 defence, 9 speed, and 10 res. The only magic users in Lilina and Lugh are gonna do 3-4 damage with chances to hit in the 60%'s so they can't outdamage his throne healing alone, the only weapons that even do more than low single digit are the armor effective but he uses lances and hammer is garbage in FE6. Promoted Dieck or a trained Rutger can double with Hammer or Armorslayer but even then Dieck is facing hit chances in the 20%'s for both hits and while Rutger is getting 50%. The third strongest option is Zelot with an armor slayer who is gonna be doubling with about 41% and tanking 2 hits. Outside of these three nobody can be expected to dent Legance without running the risk of wasting all the Armorslayer uses to throne heal. What upsets me about this is the fact that the rest of normal mode (non bosses) is so saddingly easy you could probably win with an autobattle feature as Rutger, Dieck, and the Jagen's would still prevail. It reminds me of how unbalanced FE6's cast is and how the lack of mechanics that add complexity to the combat make bosses boil down to facing terrible hit rates and slogging through dozens of turns.
The persona-like transitions were really clean. But the berserk staff sheneigians were the highlight of the video. The bandit did die, I didn’t even notice that while editing. This was the same recording where I was still planning stuff out (Karin movement) so it should be fine since j reset a few times
I don't know much about Thracia's code so this is only a guess, but I think Gustaf moved only in the JP version because Little Manster makes it so that stationary enemies don't show their movement when you click over them, which was not the case in the original version.
Niiiiice. A bit of feedback here: The title and thumbnail don't make it clear from a casual glance that this isn't just a full recruitment/green unit survival run; maybe they should be changed to something that outright states that enemies will be saved too? Maybe use the word "spare" instead of "save"?
Oh hey, coming back 2 months after to say that there's now a hackrom made from thracia fans for thracia fans called "Fire emblem Thracia 776: Forseti edition" It makes a bunch of small changes with the intent of making the game feel more complete without removing what makes thracia so unique, one of those changes is making every horseback unit be counted as having 21 Con, soooo yeah! In a way you can now 100% do that in that version!

I don't know much about Thracia's code so this is only a guess, but I think Gustaf moved only in the JP version because Little Manster makes it so that stationary enemies don't show their movement when you click over them, which was not the case in the original version.
Yes that’s exactly why
Niiiiice.
A bit of feedback here: The title and thumbnail don't make it clear from a casual glance that this isn't just a full recruitment/green unit survival run; maybe they should be changed to something that outright states that enemies will be saved too? Maybe use the word "spare" instead of "save"?
The word “everyone” is supposed to include enemies
Enemies can train their weapon rank in thracia btw, so you could have made the sorcerers train their staff rank
ENEMIES CAN USE THE SHOP?
looks like Corrin has some competition
Oh hey, coming back 2 months after to say that there's now a hackrom made from thracia fans for thracia fans called "Fire emblem Thracia 776: Forseti edition"
It makes a bunch of small changes with the intent of making the game feel more complete without removing what makes thracia so unique, one of those changes is making every horseback unit be counted as having 21 Con, soooo yeah! In a way you can now 100% do that in that version!
NO WAY
@@Ansel_G Hell yeah! I'm gonna do that challenge on my own in that hackrom as an homage to your video and work!
good luck, I hope it goes well.
@@Ansel_G Regardless if it goes good or not, i know marty will party!
@@CoqueiroLendario oh yeah, 75% build is crazy
So basically play the game the way Corrin would want to
Yes, exactly
Is it possible to get to the units surrounding Bharat, capture them, and surround Bharat so that he can’t be reached, then capture the throne?
We can’t capture the throne, nor barat.
@@Ansel_G Yes, I'm sorry, I completely forgot this is the 1 defense map in the series that's also a kill boss map. That's unfortunate.
This is still an impressive run! And your editing in these videos are incredible.
EDIT: Also, can you link wherever you found the RNG script made by Laponge36 that you mentioned?
@@foggy8298 glad you like it :)
Damn, insane giga brain strats. Unfortunately the deathless/pacifist challenge is impossible but still really impressive that you could basically beat the game besides one chapter without killing anyone.
Also does anyone know the list of songs used?
I do, just timestamp where and I’ll let you know.
@@Ansel_G 3:14, 12:43 (Fe 4 remix of some kind) , 25:33, 27:10(I know this one has something to do with Bowser) and 28:54 please.
Though on the topic of music, you did a great job with it's selection. It subtly complements of what's happening without being too intrusive or turning into white noise. There were times I struggled to separate the script from the music because I couldn't imagine one without the other. Nice picks with music from other Fire emblem games(mainly Awakening) and Persona 5 to go with the P5 aesthetic.
I swear 7:53 sounds like something from command mission but I could be wrong...
@@thunderknight4149 3:14 Sugu Ikoroshia from Danganronpa 2
12:43 Trial of the Holy War I think it's called from Fire Emblem Engage
25:33 Boss Battle from Persona 2: eternal punishment
27:10 is the song that plays in bowser's fury when you're chasing after him
28:54 it's called field04 in my files but it's from persona q2
7:53 is called "anagrams" I believe and it's from Danganronpa 2
Awsome
Haha enemies using the shops too is hilarious 😂
Seems hard but bet possible. Never play this series much so idk. This on pc right? Good video anyways.
SNES game, I did play it on pc though
@@Ansel_G oh ya, I just remember some eles I watch on twitch did that.
HAHA! Finally somebody has BSed Thracia 776 while making Thracia 776 unable to say that it BSes the player instead of the other way around. Oh, and they make a minimal deaths run, but I'm sure that's less important.
Also good sign that we aren't seeing a certain scummy person involved in this video.
Bravo.
