so you have to tap into the dark blue wire of the headlight harness to get power when the car is on. that wire is for the drl so you can run the fogs at anytime the car is on.
Thanks, I still won't permanently wire the kit because the vendor i bought the kit from hasn't responded with a fix for the light switch. Haha. Hopefully they figure it out soon or the next short will be me aggressively ripping the kit out of the car.
@Huaxinauto at this point it is installed. The vendor said they would respond with an answer. I sent them multiple messages with what could be done and heard nothing back. I have since ordered a double switch that fits the opening and when it comes in it will fix the issue. Unless you have something plug and play. I am already overly invested in this one.
Why didn’t Honda just include fog lights ? It’s just stupid that they didn’t ? The cars in Canada got them along with a ton of stuff the American cars didn’t get and they charged more for the second rate cars they sold to Americans ! If you purchased a civic si in the United States you got screwed hard ! Honda deleted a full digital screen for speedo and then removed heated seats and wheel and then deleted the phone charger and the mirrors that had turn signal lights on them , not the little arrow ! But the cool lights with a turn signal on them was not on the American civic si cars and I could keep going on and on but it would just piss you off more and then they only charged around $27,000 for the much better equipped car in Canada and the U.S. car ended up very plain and I’m surprised they even put a decent stereo in the U.S. cars but the Canada car got a better stereo and a better screen on the dash and way more stuff they can show on there better screen and again I can keep going but it will piss you off big time considering you paid way more money ! I think the American Honda buyers are just not important to Honda and I’m going to keep informing buyers just how screwed by Honda they got ! Honda should offer to install the fog lights in the American Civics for free ! Honestly I didn’t realize the fog lights on my 2023 civic si were just fake BS in the place I should have these lights ! And it was the start of me being pissed and feeling I had been fooled and ripped off ! Out of all the crap they screwed us out of they should have at least put the fog lights in ! Anyway Honda the cars from Toyota are looking better and better to me and I bet they wouldn’t screw me over like you !
I didn't know about all the upgrades American cars didn't get. I think fog light only come on the touring model or whatever they call the top tier now. I was just looking for a reliable commuter car and my wife loves her passport trailsport so i settled on this. I would rather a truck but i was about to pay 50k for a ridgeline trailsport. Maybe if we get more compact truck coming out soon but those all have 4 cylinder. I am curious to look into what the American cars didn't get.
It's because they need to meet regulations for the U.S. laws on headlights and fog lights. Gotta tell you, these regulations make me want to wish they're gone because driving at night is very scary because the headlights aren't that bright compared to the ones in Europe and Japan.
@SeanAlegator you know I'm sure our sponsor auxito has headlights that are brighter bulbs. I don't think they offer a fog light kit though. I just got the parts today to finish the fog lights those will go in soon. You have a great point about US government rules, the government always seems to find a way to put their hand in everything.
@SKPcars yeah. But I don't use auxito lights because my Equinox has the HID. For the headlights on the Equinox, I've changed the factory hid 25w to 35w because I wasn't satisfied with the brightness it gives. After replacing them I thought the 35w was the same as the 25w, but overtime my eyes have adjusted to prefer the 35w. Color temperature is 4300k since that's what Philips and Osram use for cutting heavy rain and snow, and to reduce glare. But I will consider using auxito to replace the headlights on the 2021 CRV because the lux meter reads the halogens at 250 lux at 25 feet which is horrible. As for the Equinox it was an improvement over the 25w. 25w rates at 710 while 35w is 1005.
Oh I agree. You Americans are getting screwed over compared to what’s included here in Canada, especially with the last gen Civic. Only this time, the Touring trim and Si are standard with fog lights. I wish they’re still a dealer installed option for the lower trims
@drewpeacock3798 i didn't tap into a fuse for the video i tapped into the battery but only did that to show it working. I made a short and showed the wire i tap into for the lighting circuit. I will have to find the link and send it.
I didn't leave it wired that way. I made a short. Showing how i tapped into the lighting circuit to make the power for the fog lights switched. Now no power drain. Link for that is below. th-cam.com/users/shortsUjHPw67xSlA?si=atttL9W2MMfW2we4
Sorry i didn't realize this was the fog light video. It is in the description of this video: th-cam.com/video/I5tGWmV3sso/w-d-xo.html But you should subscribe, i have a whole playlist for this car.
@@SKPcars Subscribed. Thanks for the speedy reply. I bought a Fog light kit from SWA but it didn't come with a wiring diagram. It has a Black wire- probably Ground, Red wire with fuse on it- do you think it should be connect to hot all the time or Switched? Lastly a Yellow wire- thinking it may go to blue headlight wire, maybe. Thanks for reading. I like all the upgrades on the front lip video
I don't have time to find it at the moment but on the playlist for this car is a short about where to land the wires to make it switched. It should be switched if you run it full time power the LED for the switch is running power the whole time. There are also comments on here people asking where to land the wires i added it to those commment. I am not sure why you have 3 wires unless it did come with a switch for the dash. Then it is probably the switch wire.
@SKPcars Yeah it has 3 wires. Black, Red, Yellow. Black to ground. Red has the fuse on it, so should it be Hot all the time or only when car is on? The Yellow wire is from the on/off button in the car, it should be ran to the headlight harness Blue wire, right? Thanks again
hey man did u find a cable to connect it lights , i have done what u have done but i dont wanna deal with closing it everytime i get off and open it back up everytime i start the car ?
Yes i did, here is the link to the follow up short. Subscribe you would have seen it on the playlist for the car. th-cam.com/users/shortsUjHPw67xSlA?feature=share
If you are talking about wiring it straight to the battery, that is because it is constantly pulling power to run the led inside the car when you are not using the lights and no power is being created by running the alternator. Cars run on 12v and the small amount of battery use won't effect the car until the battery starts to gets weak but you are pushing the battery to become weak by putting a constant electrical draw on it. By putting it on switched power the source only comes on when the key/start switch is on. No constant power draw.
Yeah that's the problem with these Chinese kits. They really don't care what you get but they are cheap. It worked out though, if you saw the short i did for the switch. It's done and works well... now. Haha, thanks for watching.
I think i paid like $50 for it then I paid $10-15 for the replacement switch. I mean i provided a link to a kit. I just checked it. They are selling it for $35 so cheap.
You're so patient. I would've given up after counting the bumper plugs.
Thanks
You have no idea how long I have been looking for a video like this you’re a god amongst men.

Yes and i show that on the short that is linked on the video. I show where it is in the harness and the T taps that i used to do it.

A lot of work for adding fog lights. Honda should have included them as standard feature on Sport and above.
