This generation of civic is second to none. It dominates it's class. In fact it's the baby brother that got better than it's sibling. It can and does compete with the likes of Camry. Especially now having a hybrid power plant. .Unfortunately it can also compete in price as well. With a option for almost everyone. I don't see anyone being disappointed with any 11 gen Civic.

Just another 30-40 HP and maybe a DSG like option (like out of the last gen ILX) and that would put this Civic over the top. Doesn't need a ton more power, just enough to balance out the package and keep it ahead of everyday commuters and hybrids.

Si is always a fun car I owned one back in the day. Fun when you are in your 20,30's now older this would not be my choice for daily driving. I passed on the 11th Gen when car shopping a year ago. I put it on my short list because of Tedwards Si. The manual was an absolute joy to use in test drive BUT sure while driving on a country road but I knew I was moving to Vegas and this would be a chore in crazy traffic. Plus the small trunks in a car now after having a hatch or small SUV is no longer appealing. My options at Costco are limted with a small car. So what did I choose? A Hybrid Niro😂 serves me well and love my 50 mpg (former Honda enthusiast have owned 5 including Si, one Accord, 3 civics including a mileage champ the 89 sedan made it to 385,000miles)
Honda is going to have to step their game up for the next gen (12th gen) Civic Si. They have rested on their laurels and stayed stagnant at the 200hp range since 2006 when the 8th gen Civic Si came out and only went to 205hp when the 10th gen came out only to downgrade -5hp for the 11th gen. Yes, the Si was never about big horsepower, but if the FK8 and FL5 Type R's never came to the our shores, then at least the Si should have been our high-performance top dog with 300hp or at least make a sedan version of the Type R that would've been for North America. There's only ever been two sedan Type R's from Honda (in Japan) that have ever existed: The Japanese-spec DB8 Honda Integra Type R sedan and the FD2 Honda Civic Type R sedan (based on the 8th gen Civic Si platform). Going into the 12th gen Civic platform very soon in the next couple of years, the 12th gen Civic Si needs about 235-240hp. The AP1 and AP2 S2000s pushed more hp than the Civic Si's ever had. 220-225lb-ft of tq would be more than generous, hence making the Civic Si the most powerful Civic ahead of the Civic Hybrid and behind the FL5 Civic Type R. The L15B7 (1.5T) has served its time and it's time to retire it. A 1.8T engine would be more suitable for the next gen Civic Si, or at least upgrade the liter displacement by .3L making the L15 become an L18A, L18B, or L18C codenamed engine as the 1.8T and give the next gen Civic Si the performance Si fans, Si owners, and potential new Si buyers are desperately wanting the next gen Civic Si to be.
I agree with this. I got the 2023 Civic si, its a fun car, I love it but they shouldve atleast gave it more power. Hopefully the 12th gens have more power and I hope they remove the auto start/stop feature and replace the electric e brake with a manual handbrake
My son has the 2019 Si with a K Tuner and all the bolt on mods. The tuned L15B and tiny turbo is easily 290-330hp so it's super fun to drive. My understanding is that the 2.0T from the TypeR and Accord fits perfectly as an upgrade without much fuss so that would be a logical option for more power and torque. Once my son blows up his 1.5 we may have to go the 2.0T route.
I’m beginning to think ppl don’t know how to get the most out of their cars and then ask n get more power that they can’t control or know what to do with. If you know what to do with it is plenty enough power. Want more? Buy the R
i just got mine yesterday and its so fun it feels so luxurious and its the exact same as that one you show, first ever manual and im in love and tbh that auto rev match is a life saver being my first ever manual
They should bring Boost Blue on to the Civic Si. It blew me away that Aegean Blue and the Orange got axed. Orange was cool. Aegean Blue is popular color for the Civic sedan/Si sedan.
Re: the seats. I currently drive a 10th gen Si. Little bit different bolstering but similar. Prior to that I had a Focus ST with the leather Recaros. The Recaros looked so cool and were so aggressive, but could get a little bit uncomfortable anything longer than an hour in the car. But I got my Si and drove it 4400KM across Canada. Was a beast on mileage, (averaged over 50 mpg) and the seats were perfect for multiple 12 hour driving days. Love my Si
Drove this si on Saturday red and I must say move it coming from Toyota owner for many years Honda doing the damn thing right here . Maybe my next car 😊
I had a 9th gen si 120K miles.. never changed stock clutch until I traded it in.. the reliability is great on these if u don’t bang the gears all the time.. I drive a tuned wrx tr now because I needed all wheel for winter.. would have gotten the type r if it was awd
I have a 23 forte gt manual and love it, but I wish I could have gotten the civic si. Mine has sunroof and heated seats, which the 25 si finally now has. Plus I have rear vents for my daughter and rear passengers. Plus I don’t hang auto start stop, and I get a good old fashioned manual e brake. I feel auto start stop (which I know I would get into a habit of turning it off every time I get in the car), and pressing a button to set an ebrake in a manual car feels like it would feel wrong. But honestly the radar cruise control and limited slip front diffs would probably make it all worth it. When I want to get down on it, that one wheel peel is really felt in my forte gt manual. Plus the last manual version of a car that’s no longer being made, feels unique. Lots of gt line fortes on the row. Way less GT’s, and less than a thousand manual versions of the GT out there, and I have one. Plus I got my 23 gt manual brand new for 24,000. No mark up, and well under 30k.
Great cars my wife has the 23 sport. Got it brand new 0 miles now at 26k and a trip to Florida from Texas and a few trips across Texas only gripe is the crappy steering problem
Lost my tolerance for revving the heck out of small engines just to feel energetic, not even fast. I'm too old for babying the sweet-spot on the rev-range. Honda needs to put a de-tuned version of the 2.0 in this. Heck, I'd rather have a non-turbo 2.5 liter with no lag.
Couldn’t agree more. This is the reason why I chose a GTI over this. Plenty of hp and torque from stock. A simple OTS tune adds 80+ hp and 100+ torque, turning it into a little rocket. Yeah, it’s a VW, not a Honda bla bla bla… but I don’t really care.
AGREED!!!!….the 2.0T from the accord would’ve been a win in this…that 1.5 motor is horrible IMO…and the integra also…make the 2.0 252hp from the accord the standard engine. Then the 300 plus hp engine for the CTR and the type S integra that they currently have
Good to see a lack of automatic wipers and hope that starts a trend. That is such a pointless feature unless you want your wiper blades to wear out 3x faster.
the only thing I want to know is if the sound system is decent, I have a 2019 Miata RF GT and plan on getting rid of it due to it's impracticability as a comfortable daily and little to no space for just about everything, I love the thing but it's just not what I want when I can only have one car(money). So just wanting to know if the sound system is a good quality(it probably is considering it's honda but i'd like to hear your thoughts if you ever see this).
@AdonaiNate dude. It’s been this low number for like a decade while only getting heavier. It’s just slow, it can be at least 230hp without compromising anything
Right. They just gave us the stuff that Canada already had when we should've gotten it together. They gave us in the US a stripped out version for the first 3 model years and then give us the extra goodies for the mid-cycle refresh which I am totally fine with. However, Honda needs to stop negating the US market in the beginning when the new gen car comes out. I hope Honda does better for the next gen (12th gen) Civic Si and truly gives it S2000 horsepower between 235-240hp and 220-225lb-ft of tq so it can be the true second most powerful Civic ahead of the Civic Hybrid and behind the Civic Type R. The Civic Si should always be the second of the top-of-the-line trim.
I feel like Honda is lagging behind with the SI. The type r is as good as ever but you can tell that Honda has made the SI take a back seat. No power boost? No heated steering wheel? No automatic option? No fix for the rev hang? Just overall the SI needs a revamp soon considering the Elantra N Line and Jetta GLI are still in the market, although the competition has been dropping out recently. The Forte GT is on its way out and that was what I would say the best competitor for the SI considering it had cooled seats, a DCT, ONE more horsepower (crazy, I know) and no rev hang in the manual. If kia ever decides to make a K4 GT, and even if they don't, Honda NEEDS to make updates to the SI. It's starting to feel dated.
@@TheUnreadableUser I mean you're critiquing the Si based on criteria that Honda didn't spec it for. The priority with the Si is driver engagement. Most of the improvements aren't visible from the exterior. They added Type R suspension components and stiffened the chassis. It handles tighter than every car you mentioned. It has the best manual transmission and steering feel. It's never been offered with an automatic because that's not the objective of the car. It's sole purpose is affordable, practical driver engagement. That has always been Honda's M.O. with the Si. The other cars you mentioned maybe have more technology, comfort, and power, but none of them match the driver inputs offered by the Si. Honda built the car to a price point and had to pick and choose what made the cut. They picked driver feel and handling and it excels in that and is the best in class on that criteria. Simply put, if you care more about creature comforts, technology, and having an automatic option....the Civic Si was probably never the right car for you in the first place, and that's why the others exist.
@@roghaus you're right, but I feel like the argument of the price could still be made. Driving feel is important, but for the price you can get a used Elantra N or GR Corolla and those are probably equal in driving feel
@@andrefrbk if you are physically able you should leave how to drive a manual. So much more fun. If you have to drive in bumper to bumper traffic everyday you should move lol.
If only they would put a manual e brake and give it like 50 hp... and paint match the mirrors and spoiler. Maybe add back in the fog lights too and remove the fake piped in sound.
You have to ask yourself if for 4 grand more shouldnt you chose the Elantra N? It is much better in every way: No rev hang, much quicker, sounds better, longer warranty, free scheduled maintenance...and you can get a DCT or a manual.
4:30 you said it was number 35 off the line? How do you know that. I bought a 2025 si 2 days ago and I’d like to know what number I have off the line 😂
Curious. You mentioned you wouldn't want to spend more than ~ 2 hrs in the seats, but didn't you do an 8 hr road trip in a '22 and say they were great and you didn't have any fatigue?

Sad that the hybrid is quicker :( could have given it 20-30 more hp. For quickest or 1/4 mile runs the new golf gti comes with 265 hp and will take the civic to gapeebees lol
I'm sure it will, if not, then the 2026 model year. It's only the 2nd model year for the Integra or going on the 3rd model year for the Integra, but the Integra Type S is in its second model year.
@TopherDrives - Question for you… now that you have commuted the Civic Si and the ND3 and you had to pick one. Which one would you pick and the main reason why?
Unless you really need the extra seats, Miata no question :). The new civics are great cars, but the size and handling of the Miata are in a class of its own.
@@alexp6409 yeah maybe he’s a very big 10 year old lol. I’m guessing by the age of your kid we are about the same age. Some younger parents flip out if their kids don’t have rear air vent and 30 inches of legroom.
I'm 6'4 and slim and even I can fit in the back of a Civic Si. Today's compact cars are no longer compact. They're like mid-compact. They have compact in the name with near mid-size sedan proportions and capacity.
Early on they did. They were marking these up to $35,000-$36,000 during the pandemic and it was only a $27,300 car at the time when this gen Civic Si came out.
@@ChrisM-dx8up civic si has been at 200 hp since 2006. They have made the car heavier. All its competitors have over 200 hp. They actually dropped it 5hp since the last gen. They could put it at 230 or 240 and not take sales from the type r which is a completely different car. 200 is not enough for the current market. They say they won’t add a little more sound deadening to save weight but can’t add a little horsepower. And you say “just buy the type r” which is 20,000 more. You can still be a fanboy and not agree with everything Honda does.
@@Localtraveler2376 Sure but the civic is also probably going to last much longer than any of its competitors. If you care enough for closer to 230 or 240, you should personally go get it tuned (which would probably still be cheaper than a Jetta GLI or Mazda3 turbo) but I think most people looking to get the si are probably happy with power figures alongside its reliability.
It's still a nice car, the 07-?? was a weird shape, but last of the good drivetrain, the new one is sharp, but not particularly fun to drive. 200hp is fine at 2800lbs but at 3800lbs it's a little slow.. Think the hybrid is a better choice.. sadly even with a cvt the hybrid is quicker than this thing. Convinced Honda has lost touch with the market.
Tell that to Toyota and Subaru with the GR86 and BRZ with 224hp and Honda with the 230-240hp on the AP1 and AP2 S2000s, which is where the next gen Civic Si rightfully belongs. If Honda reads comments like they say they do, the 12th gen Civic Si really needs 240hp and an engine upgrade if they can't do anymore than what they claim they can't do out of the factory. If you can't get 230-240hp out of their 1.5T, then add .3L of displacement and make the engine a 1.8T and that will solve the performance issue that people are asking and begging this car to be.

@@antoinelee-thomas9536 the industry standard is like 2.0 or 2.0 turbos
@@zealinbarden3942 what’s the point of Si then? What u described is what the base model civic does
This will probably be the last Si of this generation. They gave us the Canadian version of this car in the states now
The Civic Si outsells all of those cars lmao
@@roghaus quite aware, but it feels kind of underserved. The other options seem to be a little bit better optimized and updated
I wish I could buy one.
I want one of these so bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So why dont you get one?
what's pretty strange I'm noticing is I don't see the shift gear number on the digital gauge cluster which not sure why that's isn't present there

This needs 20 more horsepower.
Is that startup cluster screen in every 2025 civic si?
If only they would put a manual e brake and give it like 50 hp... and paint match the mirrors and spoiler. Maybe add back in the fog lights too and remove the fake piped in sound.
nayper 905 has two
curious if the new 25 si cluster will work with a 23 si. I need my coolant temp gage..

Can the Integra heated steering wheel be added?
Mine doesn’t have that animation is it in the settings ???
Sad that the hybrid is quicker :( could have given it 20-30 more hp. For quickest or 1/4 mile runs the new golf gti comes with 265 hp and will take the civic to gapeebees lol
This one seems to sound a little better than previous Si's. I like this, but having the same HP for like 20 years is a turn-off.
Will the 2 to 1 auto rev matching come to 2025 integras as well?
I'm sure it will, if not, then the 2026 model year. It's only the 2nd model year for the Integra or going on the 3rd model year for the Integra, but the Integra Type S is in its second model year.
I like it but hate that red trim and red seat interior
@TopherDrives - Question for you… now that you have commuted the Civic Si and the ND3 and you had to pick one. Which one would you pick and the main reason why?
Unless you really need the extra seats, Miata no question :). The new civics are great cars, but the size and handling of the Miata are in a class of its own.

Ok the car is nice and all but that lady 🥹
It needs more hp. Honda keeping it at 200 is a joke.
It's a civic. 200 hp is a lot for a non-hybrid in this segment. If you want more power get the type R.
Power is fine but needs a bespoke motor like the old SI’s. And a 8000rpm redline
@@TT92348 you’re getting the same horsepower you got 20 years ago with a heavier car.

When has a Civic Si ever been RWD? It's not an S2000.
200 hp is pathetic for a "sports" car today
