I'm a Juilliard school of music graduate. I like that you stand for truth and justice. However, just to clear something up here: A mode is a scale made up of half-steps and whole steps in a specific pattern. It is made up of pitches which of course are defined by their different FREQUENCIES. If you don't like songs in A but prefer Ab, then only listen to those! But don't confuse the use of modes with what frequency you determine as "A". Standard pop music is written mostly on an Ionian or Aeolian mode scale. However, you can hear many of the other modes used in Gregorian chants, Renaissance music, jazz, later era Classical and electronic music. (In addition to Ionian and Aeolian, there is Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Locrian). FREQUENCY, on the other hand, refers to the actual pitch heard. Every sound in nature travels by wavelength. That wavelength is determined by frequency and amplitude. Frequency is the actual pitch you hear. So, 440 or 432 refers to the frequency of the sound wave of the actual pitches that would be played in a scale. Just like you can have a scale that starts on "C" or "C#" or "D" or any note you choose, modes start on whatever note you choose and then the pattern of half steps and whole steps between the pitches are what make a mode what it is. Hope that helps!

Good comment. OP makes good points. I agree with his concerns re Plato and societal control, but I do not believe 432hz versus 440 or higher for that matter (the Renaissance pitch) would greatly impact society as suggests. Nor adding another octave to your local range. It's just a slightly lower starting pitch.
