Paintgun is one of the best mods for SE by miles.
    A use for gravel.
    So damned relaxing.
Allows you to paint precisely (so vital when working with salvaged small grids).
Really adds to the engineering theme.
And makes painting in survival actually feel engaging and immersive which goes a long way to the enjoyment of the game.

The paint gun should be in the vanilla game. Being able to paint corners without having to remove all of the walls and floors around them would make painting things a lot more enjoyable.

I can not express with words how hard I agree with this sentiment.

What a nice video! For basic elements of base building you have given a very good amount of information! Although entierly pink grid is very good, can't see a problem with that))

I'd love it if there was some kind of function that let you hover over a block and repaint every block on the grid with the same color and skin all at once.
For example, if i want to repaint my speeder bike, I could just hold down a key combo and repaint every block that is red with the retro future skin to some other color, while leaving the bits that are grey with no skin alone.

There already is! On PC, just hold Ctrl+Shift+MMB to paint the entire grid.
It's really easy do by mistake. You can paint a large area with CTRL+MMB, and then you press shift to run, and accidentally repaint your entire grid, so be careful!
EDIT: I just saw that you wanted to fill the same colour. That would be awesome! Consider making a suggestion on the Keen Software House website

That paint gun doesn't work. I did what the description told me to do and nothing is there anywhere. I see this being painted in the video but it won't work for me. The details were passed over and the painting started.

Im here cause i exactly did what you said... i started the ship with the refinery, and colourized all the pipes in actual real world ISO colours and accidently repainted the entire grid into red lol... does anybody happen to know about of some sort of redo feature? I piped everything so tide, ill basically have to completely rebuild the refinery part including sorter settings and renaming everything if there is no backscrolling through the latest paintjobs

Oof, yeah, I've been there, sorry you find yourself in this position. Unfortunately, there is no 'undo' option. I do strongly reccomend the paint gun mod to help avoiding that situation.

    no need for a mod
if you get close enough to a block, even if other blocks overlap it you can paint it without this mod by pointing your cursor directly at the block. Get as close as possible and it works. Three years ago this didnt work this way. Its been changed for the better.
I hate having to use mods to do things. Installing a mod pack in order to do something basic is silly, and limits how many people can copy what your doing effectively. Not conducive of a community experience...having to use this mod or that mod to paint or utilize inventory.
I avoid mods at all cost.

    • @GleebTorin
      @GleebTorin  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

I get what you're saying. The trick of getting as close as you can doesn't always work, and the paint gun get around the edge cases. I get the reticence to avoid mods, too, I'm typically not a fan of playing with a lot of mods, but I do have a few I play with that just make the game a little less frustrating to play.
