He gives all he has with every performance. If you haven’t seen or heard him perform do your self a favor look him up and waste no time and go see him or buy some of him music. It's also a good memory because Mike Archenhold, (1950-1999) one of the original camera operators on "Austin City Limits", ran camera 3 (opposite me on Cam. 1) on this show and we are workin' it. But then Delbert always gives us the good stuff. Texas Roadhouse Blues-the meat and potatoes of "Austin City Limits." Saw Delbert when he was touring with this album. The night before, he was leaving a gig and his foot slipped off the step of his bus. He broke a bone in his right foot. He was treated at a local hospital but would not allow a cast to be put on. He asked for a walking boot and enough pain killers to let him get back home. However, he still made his next date ( where I saw him ) because he was doing a benefit show. He ran through a full show seated on a stool and sweating bullets. That was on the back side of a hay field in Chunky, Miss., on a makeshift stage.

I saw Delbert Mclinton in 1962 at the Tower Ballroom in New Brighton across the river from Liverpool. he was backing Bruce Chanel, I didn't realise he could sing so well...he was a bit of a young lad then....great to see and hear these clips ....and what fabulous musicians

Delbert played at Butchertown Pub In Louisville, KY several times a year back in the the early 1980s, it was incredible. Very charismatic & was in no hurry to get off the stage. Hard to hard explain. The bar sales went through the roof everytime he played. 2 night venues as well. Wow!

I saw him play a Bardstown Rd club in mid 80s. didn't have but a couple hundred in the crowd but he played with same enthusiasm as he always does. Bummed a smoke from me and we chatted about some of the Soap Creek Saloon days in Austin.

That IS Rick Kurtz, of B'ham,Ala. on the slide guitar. And the guitar is a Fritz Bros., I believe it's a Roy Buchanan model. Roger Fritz ran the Gibson Custom Shop in Nashville, now lives and builds guitars in Fairhope, Ala. He made George Harrison's favorite guitar, and Darryl Jones, of the Rolling Stones, plays his basses on stage. Rick Kurtz, as you can see, is a badass guitar player. And I believe that is Mike Duke of Wet Willie on the piano. Great clip!

I have that version of the song on my old iPod and that iPod is connected to my old Bose speaker. I bring it into the bathroom and while I’m in the shower I play that song about ten times in a row (I have my iPod set to repeat one) so the song just keeps repeating.
While I’m showering I try to sing along with Delbert, which is virtually impossible because by the second time around I’ve lost half my voice trying to sing that high trying match him note for note and scream for scream!
Can’t be done! But it’s one of the greatest performances ever done!!
    Love Delbert’s music!!

@@girlyman514 one of the good things about being an old cosmic cowboy is being there when "Victim of Life's Circumstances" album came out. Delbert worked Louisville regular playing Butchertown pub 300 seat bars. Saw him one night in the early 80s play a Bardstown Rd joint with maybe 75 people. Saw him play Soap Creek in Austin mid 70s in a wall to wall sweaty crowd in a show that I'll never forget. Hard to pick one song but this is about as good as rock n roll can get. When it's a melancholy mood "Dreams to Remember" brings on a flood of memories. For those new check out a duet of Delbert and Tanya Tucker singing "Got to find a good woman/man" Tanya does one hell of a job on Bonnie Raitt's part and there is genuine chemistry. Sexy as hell.
Coyote Calhoun was a Louisville WAKY screaming rock dj but he was a hard core country fan at heart and made his way to WAMZ fm and really made that station pop. He was my buddy and gave me a promo wallet for Delbert's "Genuine Cowhide" lp and it had the imprint of a rubber on it. Edgey for 1977.

Um, I just randomly came across this man for the first time in my life just now. Good Lord! HOW the hell have I never heard of him before? This is one of the bangingest bangers that ever banged. Just looked him up and found out he was born in 1940, has been performing since the late 50s, has released dozens of albums, is still alive and was performing recently and taught FREAKING JOHN LENNON the blues harmonica. What the hell? This is like coming across Willie Nelson for the first time or something.
