Y'all know Nashville turned DMac away? And he came back from throat cancer and started his own record company, publishing company, and built his own recording studio. I've seen him live 14 times...I can't get enough Delbert.
My husband lead me to a fan of Delbert. We listened to this song so many times and so many other songs of his. I wish I could listen to this song again with my husband, just one more time.
Thanks🙏🙏 so much for your love ❤️and support from onset, it's a thing of joy that am blessed with the best fans, thank you so much, I do appreciate you and everyone out there

I used to run with Delbert back in the 80s and 90s in Ft. Worth. He was a fine gentleman while having just enough devil in him to make our shenanigans fun!
My wife nd I have been together for over 50 years and have always said we were here because we were put together and it was only a loan from God. We both know one day the loan will have to be paid back and this song express our feelings and we will really never be apart.
How blessed the two of you are. You are God's example to many of us who have failed to nurture the kind of love you and your wife share. A blessing indeed.
It's tragic to me how amazing he has been his entire career and never truly got the recognition he deserves. From Delbert and Glen in the early 70's to amazing performances like this, he has so much wonderful music.
Damn, I've heard a bunch of versions of this song .. but none better. The resonance and texture of the vocals and the stripped down accompaniment so suits this song. Way to go Delbert!!
Yes, brilliant! I recorded two versions of this master-piece, here is one of them: th-cam.com/video/JeAELV-frmw/w-d-xo.html I'm also have the BT made of this stripped down studio version. I should have it recorded by mid next year some-time.
I saw someone again today Who remembered me and you They asked all the same old questions I gave the same excuse They said what a shame, what a shame To lose a love so fine But I never lost you, I never lost you I never lost you, you were never mine I kept on believing What I wanted to believe The unspoken promises That you could never keep But it's a sin, oh it's a sin To tell yourself a lie I never lost you, I never lost you I never lost you, you were never mine Did you give me all you gave me Just because I needed you But when I needed all your love completely Was it more than you could do Sometimes deep in the night When I hold you in my dreams I get lost in your loving touch, baby I can't believe how real it seems And I know, yes I know I'll have you 'till the end of time 'Cause I never lost you, I never lost you I never lost you 'cause you were never mine I never lost you, I never really lost you How could I lose you, you were never mine
I love this song but I feel his pain it's so sad to see someone hurting I know I've had my fair share of it Delbert u got this love is like war easy to begin and hard. to end

Wow… I love you Delbert! You’re the only man I’d ever go to a real HonkyTonk 4:15 with chandeliers and sawdust on the floors. Great Memories in Memphis.. the honky Tonk is closed now- but memories remain

Another wonderful and underrated musician! If u haven't do yourself a favor and check him out! He will either make you laugh or cry and sometimes both! God Bless!!
I've live this song right down to the divorce. May never be another like her, and to me, that may be ok. i invested a lot in that relationship, all of my heart. At the time i thought she was made of gold. In retrospect she was never mine. I remember dancing in the living room and both she and i knowing. With wet eyes, thank you, Delbert.

Delbert just speaks for all who have lost a love.
Always thought Delbert never got the credit he was due. Great artist.
That's because most people don't recognize truly good music, just simple crap. That's why most of the money is in "commercial" music.
U are so right seen him live he's a true legend gifted!!@

Absolutely
Then, you have no soul....
I have loved him and his voice &Music for so long. I have seen him in person and I have wore out every Album he has ever done. Amazing talent

I lost my wife 10 years ago today to mental illness and this soulful version of this song captures my sorrow.

One of Don Imus' favorites. Had Delbert on his morning show many times. Delbert is such a wonderful talent.
To me, this has to be Delbert's greatest song. Awesome. Thanks, Delbert. Warren Powell
I've seen him live singing with so much swagger but never seen anything like this incredibly touching, stripped version with his feelings bare.

He is so real---love him and his music.
That was an unforgettable performance. Who would have thought. Love it.
Delbert’s been around a long time, always making great music.
Just a great "feel it to the gut" performance! I don't know why, but this type of blues/soul has always hit me to my core.
Always thought this was a great song and this is the proof What a performance.
Delbert is the real deal.
Wow, what a great song. It must be the most unlistened to great song of all time.

Some of the world's finest blues songwriting, great performance! What a great love song, not many like this.
Thank you, Mr. McClinton for sharing your soul with the world and helping us through it all-again, thank you, Sir!
You can see the pain in his eyes, and voice as he sings. So heartbreaking...
Notice all of them have their eyes closed. Nothing but heart. He wasn't singing it, he was living it. Here come the tears.
A very happy 76th birthday, Delbert........... you were never mine, Jennifer
I don't think anyone puts the feeling into their songs like Delbert puts it into his...
I lost my wife and child, this song breaks my heart
Sorry
God bless you....
Be Comforted.
To quote Sam Phillips... "this is where the soul of a man never dies"....

Doesn't get much better than Delbert. 3 Grammys are not enough
I saw someone again today
Who remembered me and you
They asked all the same old questions
I gave the same excuse
They said what a shame, what a shame
To lose a love so fine
But I never lost you, I never lost you
I never lost you, you were never mine
I kept on believing
What I wanted to believe
The unspoken promises
That you could never keep
But it's a sin, oh it's a sin
To tell yourself a lie
I never lost you, I never lost you
I never lost you, you were never mine
Did you give me all you gave me
Just because I needed you
But when I needed all your love completely
Was it more than you could do
Sometimes deep in the night
When I hold you in my dreams
I get lost in your loving touch, baby
I can't believe how real it seems
And I know, yes I know
I'll have you 'till the end of time
'Cause I never lost you, I never lost you
I never lost you 'cause you were never mine
I never lost you, I never really lost you
How could I lose you, you were never mine

love Delbert Mcclinton and this song is the best
Did he write it
Watching him on PBS right now. Love it.
Been listening a long time..IMO he's in the top three singer/songwriters of all time. Kris Kristofferson and Bob Seger being the other two.
The person that said he looks old and worn out needs a check up from the neck up. How shallow and vain they must be.
You may be right about the 3 best, however, he's my favorite. Include John Prine (my 2nd favorite), & you have the 4 best song writers in this genre.
@@erlethepearl 100% Agree. John Prine is definitely right up there with these three.
