Ive caught a few stockie rainbows out the derbyshire derwent over the years. Ok, no surprises there. What did surprise me a couple of years ago was catching a 4oz rainbow with parr markings. That certainly intrigued me & still does.
Any idea why they successfully breed there and in no other river ? Enjoyed this . I've seen some huge rainbows by the bridges in Bakewell. No-one seems to fish there.
its to do with it being a limestone river and the river they came from was limestone. you can fish there but its a nightmare with the public walking by
Rainbow trout are introduced sterile in Britain so they don't breed and become invasive to natural fish. Usually just to enhance fishing where natural stick is low
Stunning Rainbow Trout! 😍🔥

Fished the Derbyshire Wye at Bakewell once when I was a child. Caught 3 wild rainbows. Probably some of the best Game Fishing in the country!
its a stunner of a river
Yes I did enjoy the video and I think you did well catching those fish not easy fluff chucking on clear river 🎣👍🏼🍺
they made me work for it!
great video ,inspired to go fly fishing when the spring comes

The grayling fir abot of the tail missing, was must likely making a bed for her eggs.
Try the Wey in Liphook for wild Rainbows.
Just looking at your tally. If you can make it over to Bristol I can take you to Topmouth Gudgeon, Sun Bleak, and Silver Bream in the same area. Don.
We have them in the beck in brookfoot Brighouse...
Maybe stocked or swam there but unlikely to have been born there!
Should see some of the odd rainbow from the Ryburn and Calder near Sowerby Bridge. Not from farms. Bred in the Ryburn.
Hi Jack, how about a ten spined stickleback? I've only ever seen a few in a massive reservoir years ago
they will feature in a episode this season
Well done, lovely fish and fishing. You could do with being a bit closer to show those fish off properly.
Good luck.
yes it is a bit tricky as I have to film and fish on my own and I like to try and get the fish back quick
Grayling are so pretty
@@fleshboundtobone my favourite fish

Does anyone know what normally stops them from breeding in Britain?

Pollution?
Beautiful rainbow, do you know any free places to get trout or grayling?
Not in Derbyshire I don’t I’m afraid
Dream on😂
Plenty of excellent value fishing on Fishing Passport web site
Plenty of free fishing for trout and grayling 30 minutes away in Sheffield on the Don
Far to much handling of the fish for me the second one was with dry hands.
