Very nice comparison of the fish. Yeah typically it is universally agreed upon that the more orange the meat, the tastier it is. Usually it means those fish have been eating more crustaceans and there are certain chemicals that are then integrated into the meat that add flavor. So really any of the fish could have won, just depends on what they are eating out of that particular body of water.
Good job getting the varied limit you were after. One thing: page 21 of the 2023 guidebook (3rd paragraph) states the following. "You may continue to fish while in possession of a full daily limit, but you must immediately release any additional fish you catch." So have no fear about having to stop fishing. You can keep going until you feel like stopping.
Love the catching parts of the videos the eating parts make me so hungry i miss the last parts of gideos eating . Ill have to change it up ! Have a great evening and have a great holiday season and a merry Christmas !
My personal impression about fish taste is that the taste varies by where you catch this fish, time (or season) you catch this fish, and also the size of the fish. I have done comparison also between brook, rainbow, and brown trouts with nearly the same size (about 45 to 50cm) and my verdict was brown>brook>rainbow. But this order changes in many reasons, so I'm always interested to see your comparison results.
I caught myself my first trouts today.. I felt weird like throwing up so I thought I messed something up. Looked it up and found trout or freshwater fish in the US is contaminated with PFAS and can pass on to you. One swerving of, say, trout can be equivalent to drinking tap water from a contaminated water source for a month. I may have stumbled on something that ruined my fishing experience.
Dude, EVERYTHING is contaminated today, even vegetables. Skin your fish, make sure you remove the lateral line, and soak in very salty ice water for an hour. Enjoy😂
Zata's good stuff. I also do Chacheries Bold or Slap Yo Mama seasoning. Sometimes a little extra cayenne. I've been experimenting with garlic salt (Cacheries has a lot of salt/garlic/cayenne) along with onion powder. I cooked a badass garlic/onion catfish the other day.
Enjoyed the video. Perhaps simply sautéing fillets with no breading in a neutral vegetable oil would have made the job of distinguishing flavor differences easier. That said, Zatarains is a great choice as a breading. 16:47
Years ago (1984) as part of my college graduation present I had a trip to Yellowstone. I've had brook, rainbow, brown, and then the cutthroat. By far the cutthroat was superior to any trout I've ever had. Never caught or heard of a tiger trout until watching your channel. Is it a cross between trout species?
So I have a trick for you one of the “old timers” at the fly fishing club I belong to taught me. It’s a risky method but it can pay off because it immediately did for me. If you have a fly and an indicator on with some open water in front of you and ice beyond that cast onto the ice and drag it across.Let it fall right at the edge of the ice and sometimes you’ll get smoked!
Don't know where your located, but what an Outdoorsman's Paradise. You could eat Trout One day and Turkey the next. It would be hard for me to decide with a Cajun batter. Good video 🔥
That zatarans breading is my go to breading whenever I fry my own fish. It has such a good flavor. What state are you fishing in? I am very jealous of the variety of trout you are able to catch. Ive never heard of the cutthroat Ive heard of the tiger just never seen them before. Very beautiful fish. Where I am in New York we have brown, rainbow and brook trout. Are all the fish you caught stocked or are they native?
@ Bass "N" Trout, Whoa, all Four Different Trout Species. Giggles, for the Tiger & Rainbow Filets and Looks Pretty Good for the Cut-Throat & Brown Filets. No Means that Bass "N" Trout & I are getting paid for this, But I will give a Shouts-Out for this Zatarain's Seasoned Fish Fri Breading. From the Looks of It, Sounds & Looks tasty from his own Expressions.
LIKE BUTTON SMASHED!!! Always dig your comparison videos which gave me an idea: why not try catching rainbow from three different spots and do a taste test? Maybe you could figure out what stream habitat produces the tastiest fish... But to do it right you can't include fresh stockers because they taste like food pellets!
Dude Fry up the Trout eggs their delicious! You have been an inspiration to me, check out some of the Brook trout, Cutthroat and Rainbows I've been catching in wasbingron state on my channel. Fish on bro!
If you get another female sometime don’t waste the egg sacs. Put them on a hook and float it into a hole and trout love it. It’s a great way to get the finicky ones.
There must be many different things that might affect a fish's flavour and eating quality: the time of year, the water it lives in, ( lake, river or stream, and what bedrock that water flows over) what the fish has been eating, whether it has bred this year. Even the health of the fish should have an effect; I'm assuming that fish can get mild viral infections that they recover from: the rainbow might have been recovering from the fish equivalent of a cold. That would certainly affect both the flavour and texture of its meat. Overlaying this are the difference between the species themselves- as close to each other as they may be, that genetic difference will also play its part.
You are one lucky dude! To be able to catch four species in one day, awesome! Glad you’re feeling better.
That's a great way to see each species side by side. Love to see more videos like this one.

Very interesting to see those species at one tiny river. Thanks for your great video again!
Another great video, crazy to catch all 4 species, must have felt awesome! Can't wait for the next one!
Awesome idea. Run this back without the breading on them and re-taste!
We might try that, maybe with some different species thrown in

Huh. I’ve always thought you had to stop after your limit

_Awesome trout multi-species catch & and cook, dude. No doubt. The more orange/red/pink the meat of any trout, the more desirable it is._ 💯💯
Caught my hat several times with my fly pole. The best one is when I caught myself in the butt. Had to pull my pants down to get the fly out.😂
Lol
Really cool video. Nicely done. Just the right about of narrating, action, and education!!

Hello from northwest indiana love watching your videos always great viewing
Let's see a wild turkey catch and cook! That was pretty cool.
Love your channel! New here, and have to say you remind me of myself in my younger days.

Thank you for posting content. It's always nice to hit the stream
My wife did the hook in the head thingy to me when we first dated and I guess she hooked me for life!!! lol Keep the vids coming....awesome!
That was kind of hard task gathering 4 different species and cooking em, good work!
A good demo...give us more.
Sweet video dude!!, I love all of your videos so much!
They're all great eating. My favorite is the brown!

What state are you in? That was alota turkeys!😂
Are they stocked or native ?
Both
I'm jealous, most trout species are closed for the season around here in the streams I fish. No tiger or cutthroat around here.
Should have added turkey and made it a surf and turf catch n cook
If you get another female sometime don’t waste the egg sacs. Put them on a hook and float it into a hole and trout love it. It’s a great way to get the finicky ones.
Zatarain's is amazing.
What state are you in?
no brookies in these streams?
if you come ice fishing with me this year, i have a bag of Catch and Cook you can have.
big dubs
If the rainbow was the same color as the cut would have been neck and neck in taste nice video 🕊🙏😇
Can you do an eat only what you catch 72 hours???
It seems you were easy to fishing !
lets go!
Hopefully you fried that roe later too?
God skills bro you went to catch them and eat them and succeeded
Native trout are pink. They look like stocked fish. I wouldn't think they would taste much different from one to the other.

We will try to catch 4 species of trout.

Has no one ever told you to fish upstream?
Tiger, trout or rare why did you keep it?
Not rare
What state do you live in?
Great catch. What kind of rod were you using? Greetings from Montenegro 🫡
Would be insane if you caught all 5 species, nvm I forgot you said you can only take 4 a day lol
Wilde naturally grown fish taste better ????
I've never seen fish Fri spelt like that before.
All fish deep fried are good. Just eat them plain no seasoning.
