I write notes and put notes on top of notes. Sometimes I go through the list of notes and put a list of tasks on one longer piece of paper. Then another note comes along which goes on top. Sometimes I write notes to remind me to look at notes or a particular note. I sometimes work through the notes to find out what I have done and throw the relevant ones on the table in front of me ready for the bin.
If I need to write a note like when I received a text message while out walking I will write it down and put it in my phone pocket. This is because when I get home I will take my phone out of my pocket and feel the note when my hand goes in so I discover it and can then put it on or by the other notes.
I have different size note books. Some lined some plain. Some notes only need small paper. With lines a description can join. With plain paper bigger letters for me to see. Sometimes I need to write a type of reminder which I spot while moving around so on big paper and placed on a spot.
If say I run out of toothpaste and need some more just in case I forget to put it on my shopping list I will say place it on say the top of the toilet so I will see it sometime to remind me to write a reminder .
A couple of months ago I was multitasking working on an Autism project for Healthwatch. I fluctuated into spasms of overwork. Went weird, can’t explain. Web of confusion, link work, notes for each task linking to others ??. Got support from Autism UK. After describing or trying to got prompted and prompted again to go for ADHD assessment. I thought I had such but it was so obvious I would not need a test. It would be like having a test to verify my arms exist. Well decided to go for it in the end.

On a washing day first thing in the morning I will put the washing basket in the hall to remind me to put it in the washing machine.

Good advice. My daily routines (preparing the coffee pot, cleaning the rat cage, etc) involve walking all over the place. I’ll have to streamline those processes. Honestly, I just stopped caring about being fast, and efficient.

@@j.b.4340 it’s not necessarily about being fast, it’s about reducing the amount of steps involved to do the task so it takes up less energy 😊

Your video came up as a suggestion, so this is the first one I've seen of yours. I thought I would tell you that it is very helpful; you have some excellent suggestions. I like to use the phrase out of sight out of mind because if I don't see something, like you, I'll forget it!

I put bags in places or on other stuff to get prompted to put the bag elsewhere later.

Everything described here are things that are usually considered to be _ADHD_ struggles. There are several TH-camrs who talk about having "AuDHD"--Autism AND ADHD. Some people (possibly me) also have Executive Function issues that may be from other causes as well, like TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury), which in my case may be the cause of my EF/ADHD-like problems which manifest mostly in time management, procrastination, and overwhelm.
I have variations of many of the things you covered. For example, I have to carry a razor with me (in my bag or my jacket pocket) so I can duck into the nearest restroom to give my face a few swipes because, despite _years_ of having more facial hair than I could pluck regularly, I sometimes leave my home without remembering to check in the mirror. (Some day I'll get laser hair removal and hopefully be done with it. I did have electrolysis on my eyebrows years ago and that was very helpful.)
I keep notepads by my bed and near my desk and in my bag; a few pieces of folded paper in my jacket pocket (with a pen &/or pencil) and some in the kitchen or near the front door because I sometimes put notes on the door to tell people not to disturb me (sudden knocking can startle me and distract me if I'm concentrating) or, conversely, to knock when they leave a package.
I have a wastebin with a lid that I use for the recycling. I don't worry about knowing when to take it out, because each time I add something to it, I can see how full it's getting. If I let it go, then at the time I put something in and the lid can't close all the way--it's time to empty it! Then I take everything out of it and put them into a large grocery store paper bag (also recyclable) and place it by the front door to be taken out the next time I leave. When I get to my apartment "recycling room", the whole bag can just be dropped into the giant recycling bin.
i usually use a paper "planner", although I don't always remember to check it first thing in the morning. If I was always near a computer or mobile phone, I would try using Google Calendar and setting reminders so I wouldn't need to worry about checking it to find out what I'm supposed to be doing. I have thought about using an online calendar and _printing_ it out to post on the wall or front door. Then I would have the constant visual reminder of my schedule for the week and could grab a pen and add things as needed.
I stopped using Post-Its long ago, because they pile up and can fall off as well. I find it more reliable to write things in a notepad &/or a calendar or planner. It's kind of nice to check the items off when I do them or when the event has passed.
(Note: Maybe it's different in the UK, but in the U.S. "box" always seems to refer to a _cardboard_ box of some kind (for files, cereal, shoes, Amazon), while open things usually made of plastic (for trash, organizing, laundry, potatoes, etc.) would be called a "bin".)
P.S. I've never been diagnosed with ADHD or autism, although one or two people who know me well have mentioned one or the other over the years, and I do see some overlap with my areas of struggle and those conditions. I always attributed my issues to my chronic depression, but after much study and observing my many ADHD friends and acquaintances (and the TH-camrs I've watched), I think of myself as sharing some struggles in common with both ADHD and autism, but perhaps not the same cause/diagnosis. There are other neuro-divergent conditions that can result in some of the same issues as ADHD and autism folks have.

@@nodoboho thanks so much for your comment - it was really interesting to read! So I have been wondering for a while as to whether I have ADHD on top of autism but as I am not diagnosed I refer only in the video to being autistic, and titled the video ‘neurodivergent friendly’ so it covers all types of conditions 🙃
I like using post its as I can see everything I need to in one go but yeah they don’t stick very well! 😅
So in the uk a bin is where we put all our rubbish (I think you call it a trash can) and a box is like a cardboard box which I suppose I shouldn’t of called it a box more a plastic basket but same idea!

Thank you for sharing this, I do this box thing too and my b/f hates it when I don’t put the things away fast enough, but you’ve made me feel less guilty about doing it at my own pace… do you also buy doubles of things you love out of fear of them being discontinued? (Clothing, Pens, certain utensils, even snacks)

Re the doubles thing, I stock up on toothpaste cause there’s only one specific one I can stand the taste of, and my previous one got discontinued so I want to be sure I have enough to last a while! Also with snacks too yeah - I get you!
