Thank you for sharing this, I learned some new things about sensory difficulties and Autism today! I have some sensory difficulties too but I want to learn about what they are like for others :)
I dont have Autism, but I have bipolar and a lot of these things I thought they were normal. Like feeling sick in hot baths/hot tubs and with the clothing textures. It also physically hurts when someone is rubbing my back/arm/anywhere in the same spot for too long. I can also relate to the small TH-cam video, my partner always comments that there is literally a full screen and I should use it! Sometimes these things trigger me so bad I have to sit down and cover my face or jump around/shake it out or my whole day is ruined. I have bipolar, (my doctor is suspecting BPD) and I didnt know I was suffering from sensory issues. :) Thank you for helping me realize this and I hope you do well!
I’m so glad this helped! I read online recently that everyone with Autism will have sensory difficulties but not everyone that has sensory difficulties on their own will have Autism. So it’s interesting to hear that you can relate to this through your bi-polar. And remember that it’s ok to struggle with these things. Take care of yourself! 🥰💛
i have bipolar and adhd my sons have both adhd and autism i have a hard time with noice and around the supermarkets i need to go early in the day to cope thanks for this video its super informative and i can relate to 90% of it
I’m not downplaying your autism, but it seems like most of these noises irritate everyone on some level and you seemed to deal with the triggers very well, so I’m wondering what is the difference hearing these annoying things as a person with autism?
The difference is it physically distresses me and actually makes me unable to function sometimes. Everyone can hate loud noises but it doesn’t send them into a meltdown because it hurts their body to hear it. It’s about the level at which it affects someone.
It’s the same with having autism. Anyone can say ‘well I struggle with change or I like having a routine’ but it’s when it doesn’t go to plan and you get so overwhelmed and stressed that you then end up melting down and can’t function because of it. This is just my experience everyone’s is different.
