I think the deeper you go into the bands ‘lore’ for lack of a better word, the better their music gets. Your understanding of Matty’s brain and the bands roots really gives greater context and just enriches the experience for me. Cuz their just guys. Stayed the same guys since they were kids and for the most part write honest songs with a hint of the “are we gonna go there” irony that makes it work. Love them
I absolutely LOVE this album. Its so Sonically cohesive, it isn't bloated, and it gets their points across beautifully.

the 1975 is a band that gets better with more listens and specially when you read into the lyrics. Matty is an insanely talented lyricist. He always brings a post-ironic element to his social commentary. You should react to the album “I like it when you sleep” and A Brief Inquiry (my favorite). Some of the best pop albums of the decade imo.
Looking for somebody to love is actually about a school shooting. Making a song that sounds like that about the most grim thing possible is textbook 1975
Not only is it about mass shooters
It directly quotes Elliott Rodger, the isla Vista incel shooter at one point

i feel like matty purposefully has a very “pretentious” online personality that he’s come to be known for but when you see glimpses of him speaking realistically and more down to earth in interviews you understand him a little better

All My Friends is such a great song. The 1975 also did the same thing with “disorder” by joy division and I hated them for it at the time but I appreciate it more now

Healy said in an interview that All My Friends was his "forever song" so it would make sense that he incorporated that sound into the album
Jon you gotta listen to A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships. That album is phenomenal and one of my favourites of all time, such a crazy blend of genres and styles with a really interesting concept
Yes JD, love it. I really would love to see you react to their other records, I think you'd be quite pleasantly surprised by some of their deeper, more fragile cuts such as Nana or Paris. I know I was, their annoying persona is just that, a persona - Theyre aware its annoying I think and do it for a laugh more than anything
im a long time 1975 fan and really really like this album. Thematically more upbeat than their previous albums but still has that warm and classic touch. Might be my fave album from them!
You should check out Matty Healy’s (lead singer) new interview with Zane Lowe because 1. Zane Lowe is a fantastic interviewer and 2. Matty speaks very thoughtfully and earnestly in it. Comes across as very different from his online persona

I know you don't like matty and I get that because he can be insufferable sometimes, but I'll advise you to react to their second album. That album is amazing.
I see a lot of people recommending ABIIOR but their self-titled album changed my life. Such a great mix of the "annoying" classic 1975 facade but also some songs that will have you thinking for hours after listening. Def recommend if you haven't already listened.
Would love to see what you think of more of their albums! Id recommend a brief inquiry next since i think its their second strongest album after this one.
Maybe even a reaction to their live stuff like their reading set or something. Been a fan for a long time and you realize when you actually see them talking that they are much more self aware and less pretentious than they first appear lol

What you said about not liking Matty is interesting. He's said in interviews that he stopped undercutting his sentimentality with insincertity on this album, so the fact that you connected with it more as someone who doesn't "know" him is really interesting! I think if you're a die hard 1975 fan, on previous records you can see through the pretentiousness to the actual message, but you have to have that meta. On this record it's defintiley more on the surface.
In my eyes and mostly importantly ears the 1975 can’t do anything wrong 😍 their music always puts me in a good mood. 2nd and 3rd albums are still my favs ❤

I find alot of people have heard of the 1975 and some of their main songs but have never listened to them. Their music has such a scope and they've never disappointed with any of their albums. you normally find the music you like the most is the stuff they've not released as a single

I think its hard to say. Causer every album has songs i reeeeaaally enjoy and kinda have an emotional connection to, you know? But I think this album is very put together and every song is great.
I definitely agree. It feels like they finally let go of the filler tracks which were keeping me from enjoying their previous work fully and created much more focused and consistent record. I wouldn't skip a song here (maybe human too) but I found myself bored by a majority of NOACF
Doesn't beat the debut album for me. Maybe thats me just being nostalgic.
@@krystofprusa5135 I fully agree with everything you said here!! NOACF has like 5 songs I actually go back and listen to. I was worried BFIAFL was going to be similar but I was blown away by it and haven't stopped listening to it.

Never usually comment on channels I follow mate. I respect the rap content etc but understand you have a varied taste which I love from rock reacts. Personally, I don't know why, the 1975 and the lyrics etc connect with me and the instrumentation is class. I feel those that genuinely love this band just connect to the band and the lyrics very personally for some reason. Just adding my 2cents, this band just has "it" for me.

The 1975 is so good because their music catalog consists of so many different types of songs.
There are some with weird wordy lyrics that don’t make sense on first listen

I'm with you in that I dismissed them when the first record came out cos there was something about them I didnt like stylistically. Boy was I wrong, next album comes out and I'm a massive fan now, wish I never dismissed them because I thought they were a Tumblr band 😆

I was never a fan of this band at all, my partner however loves them and she dragged me to their Brighton gig earlier this month and I must admit, they won me over. Great band with some great musical talent.

About You is my favourite, it’s a very beautiful song. When We Are together is also good. Otherwise this album is meh.
As a long time fan of The 1975 I find them annoying too. But in a way that you find yourself annoying from time to time. Sometimes I can't stand them, but I always come back to them, they have that childhood friend vibe to them.
