I listened to this a week ago and I think I listen to Venice bitch at least once a week and hits me every time. Every time I think that I didn't appreciate it enough
I listen to this basically every other day and it still hits so fucking hard. I don't think I've ever loved nor will I ever love an album as much as I do NFR.
The fact that she never won a Grammy is unbelievable to me. Undoubtedly she is one of the best artists out there, she really makes good music and is following her own path. I just don't understand why she never got recognized properly for what she has done with her music.
Lana excels in putting together an album where a lot of artist fail. She brings a cohesive project where the order of the songs matters instead of just a few clusters that have been released at once. Love Song is such a beautiful, soft, vulnerable song and it weakens you because you start thinking of this beautiful almost fairytale romance and then in comes Cinnamon Girl to kick you in the teeth with "If you hold me without hurting me, you'll be the first who ever did" and it is perfect. Norman Fucking Rockwell is her best album and is quite possibly the best album I've ever heard. I'm almost afraid for her next album because how do you top this? This is the quality that most artist hope to end their career on.
I think the same way. This album, along with ultraviolence, are definitely two of the best albums I have ever heard. It's really upsetting that people don't realise how incredible she is. I am so excited but nervous for her next album, either way it will be amazing.
exactly my thoughts, though i literally love every one of her albums, and honeymoon is objectively as great as nfr and uv, cause the transitions, the way it opens and closes, the way how every song has similar vibe, and you hear "oh it's lana's honeymoon", but they all sound different
for me the progression for lana was like this: lizzy grant aka lana del ray: not super cohesive, but still carries the “hawaiian glam surf metal” that she’s mentioned before born to die/paradise: the lolita era as we all know, where she didn’t understand herself but she was starting to know what her music would sound like ultraviolence: a good girl gone bad kind of direction. the sweet little lolita character that lana had portrayed shatters as she gets into alcohol, drugs, and an abusive relationship with jim. honeymoon: lana’s mellowed out a little, and this whole album has ‘50s cinematic feels and i’ve always wished i had it on vinyl because i feel like that’s what it was intended for. lust for life: from new york to hollywood with this album. despite what most say, i think that this was lana’s opportunity to break out of either being the innocent lolita character or the badass girl. she could be herself more on this album, and i think that’s one of the main reasons it was criticized so much, because the critics and fans were used to lana in a different way than she was coming across on this album. it still has some sparkling festival tracks and a few ballads that are worth a listen. norman fucking rockwell!: this whole album has a californian surfer feeling, which calls back to her earlier works. the way lana discusses relationships isn’t as childish and it feels as if she’s found her place in the world, which maybe she has.

NFR and Ultraviolence are both just on another level. I forgot how good this album was. A masterpiece. Hopefully her next album retains that vintage americana aesthetic and soaring vocals and melodies that made these two albums great.
This album is so important to me. It came out the day I left to live in another country and i had not been a fan of Lana del Rey at the moment but a notification popped up on my phone saying that a new Lana's album came out so I decided to give it a listen. When I listened to the first track I remember thinking "THIS IS SPECIAL." it made me feel some type of way. It was the first Lana's album that I listened to and ever since I have become a HUGE fan of Lana. Lana has been an important part of this experience of living in another country. I love her and this album :)

Cinnamon Girl - that song crawls deep under my skin every f'ing time. Gotta love that song and the whole record. Can't believe that there are people who don't feel music like that. exactly :))))))
I remember crying on the bus to work the first time I heard it lol
Haven’t watched the vid yet but I feel like cinnamon girl is going to have you feeling some type of way
I'm so glad that I've finally found someone who gets California the same way that I do. This song is sensational. And this may be the best react to the album that I've seen, overall. Great job, Jon, and I hope you're all right!
I think California might be my all time favourite song of hers
NFR and Ultraviolence are both just on another level. I forgot how good this album was. A masterpiece. Hopefully her next album retains that vintage americana aesthetic and soaring vocals and melodies that made these two albums great.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
This album is so important to me. It came out the day I left to live in another country and i had not been a fan of Lana del Rey at the moment but a notification popped up on my phone saying that a new Lana's album came out so I decided to give it a listen. When I listened to the first track I remember thinking "THIS IS SPECIAL." it made me feel some type of way. It was the first Lana's album that I listened to and ever since I have become a HUGE fan of Lana. Lana has been an important part of this experience of living in another country. I love her and this album :)
Right! Hope you are well.
omgg ! me too! i was in mexico visiting my family and i was also visiting my dad grave yard for the first time and this album came out and i waited outside for an hour downloading the music and ever since i’ve fell in love with lana
a year later and you're hopefully slaying in your new country, i hope it's somewhere nice, or somewhere that really fits lana's aesthetic
@@barbiastan4037 it's Poland so no. 😂
@@atefamri1232 oop 💀
I've listened to NFR everyday since it was released, there's not a day where I don't get goosebumps listening to this masterpiece.
When “calling from beyond the grave I just wanna say hi dad” played and he went 🥺👁👄👁 I literally screamed
Isn’t her dad alive?
@@scrimbo5319 It's actually a Silvia Plath reference to a poem of hers, where she talks about seeing her dad after death. If I'm remember correctly. If you ever want to reach peak feels, read some Silvia Plath and then listen to Lana. Yeesh you'll be sobbing.
@@RebeccaMarieB someone got it 😭
I’ve listened to that song 1000000000000000 times I still cry and I still ball to ride and I’ve been listening to that since 2012 her songs give ur soul an orgasm I swear
In wich song?
I have to admit when he finally burst into tears a little bit I smiled like _hell yeah you're really enjoying it_ because I being there.
After listening from start to finish of Lana's albums Cinnamon Girl was finally the one to make him cry lol
But how can you not cry to cinnamon girl
This and happiness is a butterfly 🦋
Listen to the whole album while driving around to nowhere, that’s when you’ll feel every song more intensely
If I do this I'll probably die in a car accident, but thank you for the idea
Cinnamon girl makes everybody cry.
When he said wtf and was speechless at California I reallyyyyy felt that
I don't even like her other records that much ngl, but this is easily like in my top 20 albums ever made. I still have no words for this.
Not even Ultraviolence?
@@justvibin7883 acutally Born To die and ultraviolence are both great imo, I'd give them like 8.5/10s
but yeah NFR just transcends everything, i don't even know how it happened
Jack antonoff is a huge reason. They collaborated on most of this record; he’s the producer on most of these joints.
@@bigdawgg1994 Yeah I know, hes incredible. He also did Melodrama which is one of my favs ever. Can't wait to see what he manages to come up with on Lorde and Lana's next album
'love song' is actually the reason why i cried for this album, she said "you know that I just die to make you proud".
As a long time lana fan, this video made me so emotional. To see someone appreciate her on the level that I do hit me super hard. I got the pleasure of briefly meeting lana and all I could manage to utter to her was ‘thank you’. I’ve no picture or autograph to show for it. I just wanted to hold her hand and thank her for the gift she’s shared with us.
WHERE'S THE NOTIFICATION SQUAD!?
OMG literally 5 minutes ago I was thinking of this specific video and now here we are.. Sad it's the last one on Lana. You should do now her videos.
Your way to describe is incredible, the depth is on another level!
Keep like this man, real content, not just for the views and fan service.
the last for now, she's got a new album coming out in september :)

Young and beautiful, and the other movie songs she did!!
My top 3 Songs are:
1. The Greatest
2. California
3. Doin Time, because of the vibe....Idk it is special to me, it is pure summer for me...
Oooo the greatest, how to disappear and bartender i didnt like. The greatest sounds too similar to “sam smith i know im not the only one”
Sir Snow Kinda....but it is way better,
The greatest is my favorite by hers alongside radio. Something about the greatest just gets me every. single. time!

Cinnamon Girl - that song crawls deep under my skin every f'ing time. Gotta love that song and the whole record.
Can't believe that there are people who don't feel music like that. But then again, there's people who truly enjoy listening to EDM, which I can't understand for the life of me, so there's probably that special type of music for everybody.
"Chemtrails over the country club" out September 5th

Lana's music is the best. NFR is growing on me - wasn't blown away after my first listen but it gets better and better! Loved your reaction btw, very cool to watch how you're into her songs as well.
imagine listening to this album for the first time jesus. i would give anything to listen to love song for the first time and cry again.
Peyton Stenander it really does
Love song is my least fave on the record.
Honestly this album is an absolute masterpiece, the way the instruments blend into each other and her poetry is so surreal, such a beautiful mix
It’s sad how she didn’t won the Grammy she deserved it
I like that Lana went with naming it after ‘NFR’ but it would have been more precise to name it after ‘The Next Best American Record’, because wow 😳
She’s been under a lot of heat lately but thanks for doing this regardless!
Yeah she shouldn't have shown the faces but people dragged her more cause she was lana

It was too relatable I just cried
The chills man
My heart broke !!

I screamed when I heard the first note of Norman F*cking Rockwell 😂😂so yes
lana only hits two ways:
blasting her songs on headphones
or
sitting in your car with the radio on full blast just plain vibing
That's the only way!. You're not gonna get that full experience listening through a speaker no bigger than the end of an eraser.
"I feel sorry for people, the music doesn't hit them" 🤣lmao IKR
Your little speech about how music gets in your cells made me want to marry you. I'm already married to a wonderful man though, so maybe in the next lifetime. Great reaction as always, dude.
Jon, Been loving your journey through Lana's world, Lana really is a unique talent and one of the best modern day songwriters.

Also Jon: mentions The Weeknd in every single Lana Del Rey album reaction.
Music production is so top notch like I can't believe I can hear the depth of each drum and the smoothness of the pianos from all the way there!
