Cyclops is an Alpha level mutant. His optic blast being constantly active is not part of his mutation. It’s a result of a physical/psychological injury.
Yea, but i will say i did like the definition of beta just he used the wrong one. Rogue would have been a perfect example of a Beta mutant who became an Alpha, and she was right there on screen.
He said this around 8:30. He says cyclops's power is definitely alpha level but because of him having less control over hit it slightly hurts his status as one. If he could control it and didn't have the injury it would be like low-alpha vs high-alpha. his power is alpha level but the struggle of controlling it, though he performs very well with the visor, would be better if he didn't have to use it.
I love how every time something gets mentioned about a character being able to keep up with the Hulk, it's always followed by; "Well we all know, if the Hulk gets more angry, or if time goes on, he gets even more powerful"
Another thing I’ve noticed about Emma Frost vs Jean is that Emma worked hard to be the telepath that she is today and Jean was destined to be how powerful she is. It’s the argument of hard work vs innate talent

Hey rob, I know you don’t take too many fan requests. But I would seriously love if you continued the “Marvel Rivals Skins Lore” series. As a long time watcher and comic fan, aswell as a huge player of rivals, I seriously enjoyed the series and found it super informative. Cyclops is an Alpha level mutant. Rob is wrong. His blast being always on is a result of that physical/psychological injury. He can overcome this but he chooses not to because the visor has become an integral part of himself and how he uses his powers. Check X-Men Annual 2022.

According to Johnathon Hickman's HOX #1 explained that if someone has more than one power, he/she can ONLY one of those powers can be Omega. You can't have more than one Omega Level power. Congrats on reaching over 2.5mil subs bro!
I knew most of this information already but my whole question is what if somebody with an X-Gene got exposed to an external factor as well? A great example of this being 1: What if Cyclops got exposed to the chemicals that created Daredevil? 2: What if Wolverine was on the verge of death after the Adamantium surgery, then made a deal with the devil, and became Ghost Rider? 3: What if Quicksilver had gotten bitten by the spider that bit Peter Parker? Ectect
1, that would result in a secondary mutation which may bring his status up depending upon the new mutation. And daredevil doesn’t have powers, so exposure means nothing. 2 he would still be his rank of mutant, but he would also then be in the ranking system of mystics(like the lady with a sword and demons) 3, he would die. But he would be the same level of mutant plus a spidersona.
@@Ked7 Dear Devil *definitely* has super senses above that of Spider-Man. He straight up has echolocation so I don't know where you're getting that info from. Also I don't know why you think Quicksilver would die from the spider that bit Peter Parker.
I read somewhere that the designations are based on the range of their powers. Betas can only affect their bodies, while Omegas could affect the planet or more. Alphas are the exception. Alpha denotes someone whose powers will never stop growing. They will never reach a point that they can grow no stronger. It is why Reed Richards considers Alpha level threats to be worse that Omega. Franklin Richards is regularly listed as both Alpha & Omega. This explanation supports that.
this is my first time ever liking a video on youtube. Rob, man, this video was AMAZING!! I've always wondered how the hierarchy stands and this was a perfect way to explain it. keep up the amazing videos!
The thing with mutates is that they’re mostly from a time with common tropes. Spider bite, spider-man. Whatever happens in order for them to obtain their power, the power is usually related to whatever was involved in the process. Mutants on the other hand amount to “what am I writing this week? Let’s just introduce the his power set.” That’s how I feel whenever I see a power set based entirely around man made structures like computers. For example “I can talk to computers”. That is so specific that it wouldn’t even make sense to develop before computers or it would exist but they’d never know what their powers are. Funny thing is that one so far unmentioned group which are inhumans. They’re probably mutates simply because mutant is X-gene specific BUT I think it would be cool if they gave inhumans their own term. It’s not like everyone can become one.
Cool move, showing the page from the "handbook". I have the originals, I was lucky. Yesterday I saw a short of Scott's powers. Said he absorbs solar and other radiation and trigonometry was one of his powers. They need help Rob.
A good example of the X-Gene when it comes to inheritance is Jean Grey's sister who had a daughter and son. Jean Grey's sister wasn't a mutant, but Jean wanted to keep an eye on her niece and nephew since they've yet to hit adolescence at the time (I think this was either around the time they were still in X-Factor or when they were in Gold and Blue Team X-Men). Jean Grey's sister's family were killed off by one of the Anti-Mutant groups at the time, I don't remember if it was Graydon Creed's organization or not who'd done the deed.
No trying to be rude but you got gamma and upsilon mutants mixed up. Upsilon are the weak ones. Gamma level is Beast/Night crawler. Gamma mutants are NOT weak typically and are significantly stronger then the average human. Probably won’t acknowledge this post because it’s not blindly agreeing but just wanted to share this. Love the channel though.
Rad video! I love these kind of overview/deepdive analyses of powersets. I know that it's just a comics thing, but I wish that they didn't powerscale the x-men so hard. Not a huge fan of "I have one different gene, now I can kill god" kinda stuff. Those power levels should be reserved for outside cosmic sources imho. Everyone extrapolating to Molecule Man over time is a bit annoying.
Franklin Richards is cool and all, and I know he is powerful, but can we talk about Miranda? The only person ever designated an omicron level mutant. At least, I think it's cool and worth mentioning.

Just because you can move matter on an omega level doesn’t mean you could cause fission or fusion to create elements and such. Telekinetics at their highest level can maybe create the pressures necessary but it would be a spectacle unlike matter manipulation.
