I find the first story so tragic and heartbreaking like a Greek tragedy. No matter how much he tried his destiny was already written and everything that he did to change his fate just ended up bringing him one step closer to it.
Your channel is amazing! Thank you for making my Southern California commute bearable!
Just move already lol I left SoCal in 2013 when I joined the Air Force and eventually got sent to Japan. Got married, and after the military I had to return for 6 months in 2018. My wife got my Japanese visa and I left again. Never looked back. I can't believe I ever tolerated SoCal/LA for so long!!! There is a beautiful, NORMAL world out there I promise lmfao

What I think is hilarious is that I was legit listening to the whole playlist this morning, I'm at the near end of the conclusion where Kang meets his younger self again, just for the easy full version story to be posted minutes before I finish all the individual videos 😂
Kang is a really sad love story covered up by tyranny, rage and conquest. For all his bravado, power, ruthlessness and intelligence, he's lashing out at the world because his loneliness and broken heart. Which I never knew until I read more about Kang. He's almost a sympathetic figure if not for the whole "conquering" tyrant, warlord thing. Lol. Definitely one of the better villains in the MCU. Rob does amazing job as always explaining and making you sympathize with a character despite their flaws. Hell of a story and read by Rob.
@Malus This all knowing and powerful broken man is willing to set fire to the fabric of time and destroy lives just for love. That's sad asf in the bad way. Like you said he could possibly have anyone, do just about anything and this is what he does with time and power.

The subtext of “never love” could be that the one thing Kang couldn’t have was love. No matter what he did, love wasn’t meant for him. Not from parents, not from friends and not from the partner he wanted…Never love.
One thing time could never give him
Thing is with Kang is he’s such a fascinating concept for a character. The “man out of time”, almost like a more fantastical and villainous version of Doctor Who, where he’s scattered throughout time so much that at any given point in any given universe you can run into a version of him. However, I think Marvel hasn’t quite realised Kang’a potential in terms of stories. There’s so many ways they could go with him, by far the most interesting they’ve done is that existential crisis that comes from being able to go anywhere and anywhen
Great comment greater profile pic
@@erique1238 You know, I was thinking the same thing.

I mean, instead of going back in time and completely messing up his own younger self, he should have just sent back a book to his slightly older self containing all the information he would have needed. The thing with people is that even in a deterministic universe we are not the same person every day of our lives.
Come to think of it, the reason he fails is that after he screws up, he cuts so many pieces off himself that he no longer understands even himself, that's kind of sad, and funny, at the same time.

You are a master of your craft. Thank you for these videos man, no one else can explain comic books like these in such an engaging way.
Kang is like the main character in a video game. You are fully aware that you are playing a video game as the main character. Especially after you’ve beat the entire game, you know everything that’s going to happen or ever will happen and you also have all the cheat codes. Are you unbeatable ? No but you have every advantage while every other character is an NPC that is not fully aware of the game universe in which they live in. This also means that you can only play within the context of the video game and still have a set of rules yourself. Basically like an Agent in The Matrix.
You missed a couple. Kang is like a game, with infinite saves. some might be lvl 1, lvl 16, lvl 100, etc etc. Each and every single save can reach the same heights or greater. If you finished a play through you can take all your experience as the lvl 100 character and transfer it all to the lvl 1 character.... cutting out all wasted movements.

Couldn't Kang theoretically be a descendant of both Reed Richards and Victor Von Doom? All that would need to happen for that to be the case is just 2 of Reed's and Doom's descendants end up getting together, and then Kang will be a descendant of both Doom and Reed no matter what.

GOD MY BRAIN... after hearing this whole story, I am still cannot understand how in the hell world the story begin and end in such complexity it so beautiful and the core of the whole story is still intact.
I'm still trying too figure out how he can time travel so much - smh.
@@parrishharris3008 Well he was born in the age that everything is discovered... for me it explain a lot that a simple stuff like love... destroy his own life
@@bladez161AJK well that’s only partially true. One of the reasons why Kang is able to be anywhere in time is because of his specialized vessel, also Kang was special in his own timeline. Basically a genius inventor like reed Richards or tony stark hence why he has a time bending/multiverse travelling ship.
I feel like since he is from the 31st Century, aka approximately 1000 years, so approximately 10-15 generations, it is reasonable that both Reed Richards and Doctor Doom are in Kangs family tree somewhere. Which would mean that Kang has to be careful when interacting with both so that his timeline could be intact.
*Theory*
Kang has terrible parents, those parents could be descendants of both Doom and Richards, and let's say both were hiding it from eachother (embarrassed of their legacies or something) until the birth of their kid, and then they realise, they gave birth to Kang, and decided that there best bet is to leave Kang without parents in hoping to stop Kangs timeline, which ultimately makes Kang.
I remember watching your videos years ago, very monotone but very good content. Nice to see you're finally comfortable with showing a bit of personality
It’s so true how love, the kind where you are in lockstep with another, lives intertwined, and fully invested. It really is one of the best feelings in the world. Likewise, the loss of it, can change someone irrevocably or even break them. I lost my fiancé during the height of Covid and I must say I wouldn’t wish that pain on my worst enemies. I can fully understand Kang’s choices and reasoning, even though it’s ultimately wrong. Even after the last couple of years with therapy and love & support, allowing me to achieve some sense of normalcy again, I’d still be willing to do anything to go back.
I love you man. Sorry you’ve dealt with this pain
Oh this one, the deep dive, you hit some serious thinking points. I love the notion about parenting! As a father of two, I enjoy observing the growth of my kids. Observing life as they see it. Oh man, what you shared here will reside rent free in me. This series breakdown is the favorite breakdown of all, in your collection. Thanks Rob!
On my 3rd watch it’s so good
After watching Loki/Antman and from my understanding
Kang is every version/variant of himself from a different time period. The mcu i think over did it tho. Because now people think each universe has only one Kang since we see each kang at the rally. But in comics Rama tut is immortus who is He who remains, it’s just different parts of his life. He explains the connection and that’s he’s very old in Loki but he’s doesn’t explain why the variants look different (we just assume it’s copies but not only are they copies they are different aged versions of himself). He who remains is just the oldest version of himself which meant he already lived the others lives (that’s why he’s bored he won)
The consel is different time periods of kang coming together. The older kings have experience that already and He who remains seen the furthest. So to protect himself he helps himself throughout the time line( immortus creates iron lad who becomes Ramatut to grow and eventually being Victor S/He who remains/Immortus/etc just to meet Nathaniel to create Ironlad and etc. but each version is different because of their experiences.
You were absolutely SPITTIN when you explained the 99% vs. the free. Loved this video my guy.

Hell yeah cover the rest of this! I've been wondering why a story like this hasn't been done yet. Gathering all street level heros to go against street level villains/gangsters is awesome
I think it's absolutely hilarious that not only did he get Petrov to kill Doom for him, he also achieved his original goal in getting him to reconsider. After all, how can Doom be the greatest threat to every universe if he can be killed by an elderly historian with zero combat experience?
I think that line of thinking is false....hitler was able to have millions put to death, but how can Hitler be too bad when he was so afraid of being captured he would rather take poison and shoot himself? Sounds like a coward to me, but that has nothing to do with him being able to kill people or have people killed.
Same thing here. Doesn't matter what defeats them, it doesn't take away from what they did or can do.
Give this man his flowers while he’s still here!
Makes me feel like I actually read all these comics! Bravo! 👏🏾
1 great reason why Kang and Doom are related:
They both share the weakness of being their own worst enemy
Kang literally started his own heartbreak story in the beginning if he doesn't blow up that Village he never sends her dna in space later which starts the whole story to begin with it literally starts and stops when his own actions he's the sole reason he's miserable
And that's the same problem Doom has when he has the upside on the FF his ego is the start and stop of his downfall
The first person explanation was a solid move. Genius idea!
It took me 5 years to realize Rob is a Neil deGrasse Tyson variant 🤯

Young Kang definitely needs to be a movie or something.
I loved the way you take pride in your work and come out and read these stories from my favorite coming books.
The irony of Kang the Conqueror is that he always GETS conquered.
Great work. Some really profound moments and explanations in this video.
The true beauty of this story is that Kang is trying to not get away from the one thing he cannot leave himself.
Is that worded correctly yet confusing or just plain unintelligible
@@kevinjackson-baber7508 correctly
The MCU could have outdone Infinity War if they took a careful approach to Kang. The potential was and is still there - multiple selves; past, future, present - all battling it out for the fate of the entire timeline. What they did with Victor Timely squared. They should have introduced Iron Lad somehow and really zeroed in on the conflict between the self and the monster he's destined to become.
Instead Kang got pushed into machinery by Ant-Man singlehandedly and that's all we got. Of course the Majors drama had a lot to do with it but the acknowledgment that the story was going to the shitter had to have played a part too.
If only Kang could have deleted those text messages from his side chick, he would have been immortal.

As far as Kang being a descendent of Reed or Doom, I don't think it has to be either or. I think it stands to reason that somewhere down the line, someone in reeds family married into Dooms family. It's not unreasonable.

2 hours worth of Kang goodness and yet there's still lots that weren't included such as the Kang War in Kurt Busiek's Avengers run. WIth Avengers defeated, Kang successfully conquered the world. Also the Avengers Forever by Busiek and Pacheco which is also one of the best Kang stories....
Thank you for this video; I learned so much from it about Kang the Conqueror. Kang is my favorite supervillain, I love this time-conquering bad guy!
The reason why Kang is confusing is because the character was created way back before the concepts of the multiverse and time travel were solidified in Marvel cannon. As such the basic principle of how he created new versions of himself are where the problems start. So, if the premise is that some guy in the future has the ability to travel time and the multiverse, how does he spawn multiple versions of himself? Meaning, if he goes back to 2 million years, there is no version of himself there. In order for one to be there, he would literally have to stay there himself in person to supervise what is going on. But you can't be in two places at one time, meaning after the end of that lifetime, how does he go back to the starting point where he was in his timeline? And if he does use his time travel/multiverse travel device to travel back, then he will run into 2 versions of himself depending on when he goes back to. It all gets convoluted really quickly, especially given how the multiverse and branching timelines were explained in Endgame.
This is the stuff I came here for originally. Good work bud.
I never really understood how Kang story could be confusing almost every story that has to do with time travel follows a similar setup of paradoxes, time loops, alternate timelines and realities it's all just entertaining but not confusing but that's just me
Nah this is way extra lmao
Nah. This is on crack
Yo @comicsexplained I absolutely love this channel
Kaang couldn't settle down with Ravanna because he would meet one and she would die again and again. A new one pops up, and dies. So kaang eventually spreads one of them into the time stream. Which he can only do because up until that moment every Ravenna dies. Every Ravenna dies, because fate essentially scripts it. So times fate was for kaang to always lose Ravenna, he can only experience a repeat process of this because he later sends her throughout time, which he can only do BECAUSE there was a long line of Ravenna popping up, that are only there because a future moment, he would send then into the time stream.
I'm pretty sure I botched this but Jesus this version of kaang alone is bonkers.
