  • Wheel Stories escapes from Boise, Idaho on a BMW R1150R for a weekend of adventure at the Hells Canyon Motorcycle Rally in Baker City, Oregon. Sponsored by High Desert Harley-Davidson, the HCMR is a summer highlight for riders who live in the Pacific Northwest (Idaho, Oregon & Washington). My ride to the rally has me chasing dogs, hogs and dragons and features a strange encounter with stuffed cartoon animals in the middle of nowhere. After arriving in Baker City, I complete the day with an excellent meal and drink at Baker City’s award winning Barley Brown’s Brewery & Restaurant.

    I've got the same bike and I thank BMW for that. Right up to my personality. Powerful but gentle. I owned Honda, Yamaha, Ducati. Each one of them was good in its way, but this... was made for me. I don't even want a newer model - R1200. I noticed you keep it in stock shape. I want to replace a windscreen for something a bit bigger. Itchy about changing mirrors as well. So. Ride on! )))

      I like the R1150R. I've thought about replacing the mirrors as well. I wish they reached out further by about a half inch or so. Thanks for watching.

    Another great video of your trip!! Love to watch them! Usually it is one day trip?

    • @WheelStories
      @WheelStories  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most of my videos focus on a single day of riding. My video about the Going to the Sun Road in Glacier Park was shot over the course of 2 or 3 days. Occasionally I will pick up a few shots on the return home from trips. But my goal is normally to cover a single day's ride per video. Thanks for watching. Glad to hear you enjoy the channel.

    I always wondered why that hill was shaped like a volcano. Now I know! What a neat ride. I think that was a scout trike at the end?

    • @WheelStories
      @WheelStories  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd read about the volcano then found Butte Road on this last trip and went over to the base of the cone for a closer look. The pink trike, yes, I think that was an Indian Scout. Thanks for watching.

    Do you have an video of the ride through Nez Perce National Forest? I've watched several of your videos and have enjoyed them all! Thanks.

    • @WheelStories
      @WheelStories  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't done any riding on dirt roads in the Nez Perce National Forest. I believe my ride from McCall, ID to Missoula, MT may have taken me through a section of the forest, following the Clearwater river and entering Montana at Lolo Pass. Here is the link to the video I made of that ride: th-cam.com/video/ZDTEv7i1Uy4/w-d-xo.html
      Thanks for watching and posting the question.

    Hi, I'm looking at the r1150r, can you do a little tutorial on the BMW switch gear system? Thanks, GREAT video, I used to live in Boise

    • @WheelStories
      @WheelStories  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you're asking about turn signal switches, the left turn signal button is on the left handle, the right turn signal button and cancel switch are on the right handle. I actually prefer the turn signal configuration on Japanese bikes with everything on the left handle. The right hand is already busy enough with the throttle and front brake. Thanks for watching.

    What windshield is that? Where did you buy it?

    • @WheelStories
      @WheelStories  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is a Givi windscreen that was on the bike when I bought it used. Not sure if they're still available. Try searching Givi online. Might even find a used one on Ebay. Thanks for watching and posting the question.
