In regards to Brandon vs. Robert. I’m 1000% Roberts got it every time. Brandon was as far as we know nothing particularly special but Robert was a force of nature with his war 40lb warhammer (unrealistic but confirmed canon by GRRM) and that weapon choice really doesn’t negate alot of the protection of plate armor. Ned: You stabbed The Mad King in the back. Jaime: If I had stabbed him in the dick would you have given me a hug? Ned: Honestly, probably yes. But the moment's passed.
Brandon takes the throne, raises Jon (at court or in the north or out of sight on Dragonstone), has to put Robert in check, and maybe gives the Mannis his props. If Robert keeps pushing about Jon, he might get exiled for a time and Stannis becomes lord of Storm's End.
Little finger is definitely part of the micro nation. In fact you guys should do a video on who in westeros is part of the macro nation. Varys is S tire being so small everyone thinks he's a unic.
I would argue that Lord Tully would probably want to marry the freaky girl of the Riverlands to Stannis. He especially would want to strengthen the rebellion and sway the Stormlands by doing this. The Tully daughters could be the glue of this theory.
I reckon Stannis is 100% joining, if not for honour after Robert is murdered then to not lose face then Brandon starts the rebellion. Brandon is happy to see the mad king die but doesn't like oathbreakers to strips Jamie of the White BUT doesn't force him to take the Black under the Grand Maesters advisement. It would give Tywin his desired heir back helping to gain his support which could be locked in with Master of Coin position. Also included that Jamie has to marry Lysa Tully which would stabilise the realm and suggest Cerci marry Stannis for the same reason. Offer the Targaryen kids Dragonstone if they publicly give up their Claims on the Crown lands and the Iron Throne, mamma would take that deal on their behalf.
There's one major flaw in this what-if, the witches of house Tully should have both gotten sick of some pathetically weak sickness and died, or some other way that is not glorious or song worthy at all. Stomped by pony's maybe.
Robert Baratheon is probably has the best chance of winning any duel in westeros.Only guy i put ahead of him is maybe hugh hammer and mountain maybe. Robert wins on weapon choice alone. You cant expect to cut a knights armor with a sword but sure as shit you can break it in. Especially if you are as strong as me and robert.
Its possible that the mountain passes in the Vale were still snowbound at the beginning of the rebellion, meaning Ned and Robert couldnt attend the initial wedding between Brandon and Cat. A few weeks/months later when (in the original timeline) the double Tully wedding happens the snows could have realistically receeded
Video suggestion: In season one there’s some talk of Jaime potentially being the hand to king Bobby B. A what if exploring this could be cool. Could either be instead of Ned after the death of Jon Arryn, as a way to appease the Lannisters, or after Ned briefly resigns.
People who subscribe to the theory of Robb being Brandon's must have time blindness. Even if we assume that he slept with Cat the night before his departure from Riverrun, he then went on to spend 3 weeks as a prisoner in KL. Then Ned had to get out of the Vale, which was not easy, and he early drowned. Then he had to rally his men (and even if Benjen sent out summons, that would take time for everyone to come down) and journey south. Robert was already a few battles deep before Ned made it south to aid him. Then Hoster negotiated the wedding, and Ned and Cat spent 2 weeks together before he rode off again. At the time of her wedding, Cat would have been 3-4 months along easily. And even if Ned never saw a naked lady before, he would notice a bump? And Robb would have been the most robust preemie Westeros ever saw... even if you compress the timeline to just 2-2.5 months, that's still puts Robb in place as a premature full sized baby. Also, Hoster purged Lysa's pregnancy, why not Cat's? Cat also recalls in her POV that Ned was her first. Thus, I do not subscribe to this theory, just as I don't subscribe to Jon being a Harrenhall baby (Harrenhall was about a year before the Rebellion) or anything that has Dany as a non-Targaryen changeling. You also say that Brandon wouldn't keep Jon a secret because there is no Robert to wish him dead, but then you suggest he lies to Benjen that Jon is Ned's bastard and hides him in Winterfell? To me, Brandon either tells the truth about Jon's parentage but still sends him to Winterfell to be raised. The best political decision would be to name him Snow and send him to the Night's Watch in order to stop anyone from using him as a pawn in some rebellion. However, depending on Brandon's actions re Dragonstone and Rhaella and her children, maybe he could send Jon there to be raised? Maybe if there is no rush and danger of being attacked, Rhaella's birth experience is different, and she lives? The other option is to keep the secret, exactly to avoid the politicking, bring Jon north to Benjen as Ned's bastard (since Ned was both unmarried and dead no one would care) and leave him to be raised. His future would depend on if Benjen still plans to go to TNW or if he marries and has children as the new Lord of Winterfell. In that case, Jon would be the bastard cousin to another family unit. And if Benjen still plans to leave, then maybe Jon is raised to be the Lord? Brandon's children now inherit in the South, so they would need a new Warden of the North.
Stannis 100% joins the war to avenge his brother. No way he loses to Tarly either, It was Robert's brashness that lost him that battle, even as a young man Stannis is a much smarter tactician who would dominate with the full power of the Stormland's and North/Riverland/Vale support. BUT the War would only go until Brandon and Rhaegar's meeting, then when confronted by Lyanna's Brother instead of betrothed he would 100% tell him what's up and the WHOLE WAR would be put on pause for them to travel to the Tower of Joy earlier on(before Lyanna gives birth) and the whole situation would turn into what the Tourney at Harenhal was supposed to be, a plot to Usurp The Mad King for Rhaegar. From there a Living Rhaegar probably sends word to the Hand Jon Con to take up the Kingslayer mantle to make Rhaegar king, only for Jaime to kill him after for a bit of irony. Then King Edgelord Rhaegar, a half Stark in line of succession. As Lord of Storm's End Stannis is getting a better wife, probably his choice of the Hightower women, maybe even Ashara Dayne.
I don't see Stannis joining this whole thing at all, he was loyal to duty not to family, he held no love for his brothers at all nor does he hold it for the starks, he resepects them but that is the limit of it. He would be loyal to the Dragons, the only reason he was going to help Robert before was because he would be forced to by the Banners being called by the Lord of their House, with no Robert he makes the calls and he wouldn't betray the crown but would happily throw family under the bus we have seen this after all. As for Brandon fighting Rhaegar, I honestly can see this ending somewhat passively, Robert was controlled by his "love" obsession for Lyanna so there is no room to attempt to reason with him, but I could see with Brandon a chance to stop things, maybe Rhaegar calls out to him that Lyanna is alive, that he didn't kidnap her and he plans to dethrone his father for what he has done to the realm and the starks like how he hinted to Jaime.
