Majority of members speaking English, lots of fashion gigs, only 4 members, working with western songwriters/producers, good timing.

Its so nice to see these kind of positive videos for Blackpink since people always point out negative things

Hate is obviously wrong but as a group they certainly have plenty to improve on, why can't people point it out? It's not fair to frame all criticism as 'negative' or 'hate', that's just wrong and honestly dangerous.

I think Blackpink had the right balance of being a "bad bitch" without losing the feminine touch. That was their entire concept.
They made being feminine look bad ass. They took the pink aesthetic and put it all over their brand and made it look cool.
Now THAT was the biggest and best marketing and branding decisions that was made.

Because their song style is so American and gangsta. The cute badass concept was also fresh in K-Pop, when it wasn't as saturated as today

Also they were the first pop/kpop (since akmu was a ballad style duo) to debut after 2ne1 and BB. by 2015 CL was besties with Justin Bieber and the whole Hollywood scene. blackpink was trained for YEARS in a competitive training environment to fill in their shoes. since no one else was exploring a "western" style in Kpop other than 2ne1 and BB members at the time, it became the YG "style/sound". (not saying no Kpop song was inspired/written by western artists, but they never assimilated into the Hollywood social scene/the fashion scene the same way that CL and GD did). Anyways, 3/4 members lived abroad, this was almost their fate. Korean and western culture came more natural to them than any other group, and there were 4 members, its easier to be on the same page about things when there's only 4 members. there's no other kpop group in a big company that has 3/4 members who speak English and spent enough time abroad to assimilate and adapt to western pop culture as much as them. Jennie talked about it in her podcast, that she is used to adapting well to her environment by moving so much.
its only natural that there the ones who blew up once kpop took off in the west, no other group was doing the same concept at the time too, and naturally fans who might not be into kpop/are new would lean to a style that is more familiar to them, and again, NO other group was doing that at the time except for blackpink. also in a foreign unfamiliar industry, fans look for idols that they relate to, which came easier with blackpink than any other girl group that was promoting at the time.

BLACKPINK are not KPOP that is the secret. From the very start YG had big plans for them. The biggest thing they did was in 2017 pulled them back in and they disappeared because what they had was an explosive female group you could see the interest especially from international markets. So they repackaged them and came back with DDU DU. From then on they have broken every record you can think of they went on their first tour in 2109 and I have personally seen them live 6 times. They have also earned the respect and admiration from artists all over the world. Netizens can hate them all they want they can lie about them attack them daily but it's not stopped them.

I think the reason why there so popular in the west is because there music sounds feminist type stuff sometimes

I enjoy your breakdown, you are very insightful, but their songs in English aren't only for the English-speaking community...the use of English opens up the whole World. English unites the World, there are far more non-native English speakers than the ones in the Anglosphere. You are very intelligent and quick, but also while seeming a bit woke. Reject woke, it is the path to the reembrace of racial tribalism, despite pretending to be the opposite. I lived in Asia for several years, I am a dancer, I think Blackpink is a stellar example of how Korea has become an innovator in modern dance.
