It's also unbelievable that the guards do not tell them to step back, that's all that's needed so they can't get close enough to touch the horse or guard.
There should be a low barrier around horses and guards to prevent people from getting too close to them. I'm sure most of these people would have a fit if strangers came up that close on the street to them. These guards are working military, not props!
Someone commented it is the Guard's discretion on whom he allows to touch the horse. He decides who can and who can't touch the horse. The signs then have no real value, and give a mixed message. The visitors will pick up on that quickly. They will begin to wonder why the Guard does not allow them to pet the horse, when he just let the preceding group do so. Let's see how that approach plays out?
I think they should put on the board â THIEVES WILL BE PROSECUTED â .. as they are sneaking in stealing a quick swipeâĶweâll see who is daring enough to approach the horses with their hand stretched out.. they can all read English.. they try & play thick & dumb & make their wish come true
Mary Ann, I totally agree with you but I think that another sign of DO NOT TOUCH THE HORSE needs to be posted on the other side of the arch, and the guards need to enforce this plus shout. DO NOT FEED THE HORSE. My God! What do this people think the horse is. A PET???
All of a sudden .. theyâve all developed an umpteenth amount of love for the horses when they came hereâĶbut they go home & they have horse meat for dinner
No, once they enforce it, no one will touch it. If someone comes in new and touches, the guard says no, and that's it. It's simple. This is a new trooper, and again, he was not told. Yesterday, the lead trooper came out and told them no touching, and no one got away or tried to touch the horse. It was absolutely beautiful to see.
It would be nice if the guards were to enforce the rule but they don't and waving at a horse is crazy and don't let them lend on the horses no means NO

This is only my opinion! but I think the guards need to enforce the signs more. Maybe they would finally get the hint.
â@@Kimberly-dn4mcyes. I agree
I agree with you.
Makes me wonder if theyâve been told Not to shout at tourists. Iâve heard rumors they may close this down
.... And exactly how are the mounted guards supposed to enforce the signs ???

People should consider themselves lucky. They are able to witness history.
THEY LEAN ON THE HORSES NOW WILL SOMEONE IN CHARGE LISTEN YOU EITHER GET THOSE GUIDES AND HORSES OUT OF REACH OR YOU HAVE MADE A BIG STUPID MISTAKE
There needs to be a sign on each side and yes the guards need to say something!
THE NEW SIGNS ELIMINATE THE NEED TO READ ENGLISH. BRILLANT
Now how do we fix disrespectful? ð

Just the sheer amount of people is mind boggling!

Why wave at the horse?
ikr..it's adorable when babies and little kids do it, but when older kids and adults do it. they look ridiculous..just my opinion

Who eats horse meat?
The French do, as was on the menu when I went.
@@maxinethornley9759In Germany, too.
@@its_so_edna I think they do in Japan also.
Tal vez tengan orden de no reaccionar mas, hay que estar 1 hora a los gritos

Why dont they organise a survey and ask the tourist's who want a photo with the horse , did they see the sign? If no one did theres the answer
