These are the "service members" both civilian and military who do the seemingly boring, but ALL IMPORTANT DAILY GRIND TASKS. It may not seem to be much or hard to do, but the Kings Guard and supporting staff perform these tasks day in and day out. It is HOT, NOISY, and PRECISE, broken by some people who do not know or who ignore the warning signs. The American military have posts like this, most notably, The guards at Arlington Cemetary. IT MUST BE REMEMBERED that these ceremonies are serious and somewhat dangerous, especially when King Ormand is on duty 😁🐎. AND they are part of an active military for a nation that honors them. I think most of the problem with people doing what they want and disrespecting everything there is because the English are too polite! It might sound crazy, but they really are, which is not a bad thing in some cases. But here, these people are just nasty and take advantage of this country. This is a military base, saying nicely to get down for your safety....NO, just get down now! Again, I love the English, my grandmother was a proper English woman from Liverpool and moved here to the US. So, she would get shocked at the way people would speak over here, she never got used to it and lived to 100 years old.

I think London is going to have to impose some of the same methods other European cities are doing to cut back on numbers allowed to hover around and to keep them moving and to not touch what they shouldn’t such as monuments, horses and Royal guards. Venice is sick of the crowds and has implemented a paid ticket sort of system which will increase in amount for day trippers and sent the obscene mega cruise ships away. Barcelona citizens have resorted to dumping water on them as they invade private residential areas, though probably not the best way to do it but enough is enough.

@@elgun6125 Incorrect. These officers are part of a Specialist Unit within the Metropolitan Police, who cover all of the major Tourist Attractions, Government and Political Buildings plus Military premises that are located all along Whitehall and at other locations across London. Civilian Police Officers have this duty to protect, escort them on public streets and roads when the Military are on Ceremonial Parades and Processions.
Their role is under current Security regulations set in the UK, to meet the threat of potential Terrorism attacks.
No doubt there will be Military Police within the Interior of the military section of the Guards buildings, but the external security of the site is down to these Met Police armed officers.
