First time I’ve seen a video with the Royal Artillery on guard. Great uniforms. This horse is so friendly.
Same. I didn't know Kings Troop RHA stood Guard. 45 years of studying the Napoleonic wars, the French , the British the Major powers. Tabletop war gaming is a passion of mine. I can identify what Regiment a soldier or Officer might originate from during that period just by looking at them. I'm going to have to book a session with my shrink..
They stood guard probably Sometime in January or February of this year 2023
I was wondering why the different horses and uniforms…thanks
@@jspee1965 every year…. July
The RHA provide the guard a few times a year while the HC give their horses some time out, normally a beach holiday in Norfolk, I think some of them this summer are off to Germany
I'm always amazed that not a single person asks permission to approach and treat the horses like it's a petting zoo. They attract a lot of attention but those are elite soldiers of the Kings Guard and not there just for tourist photo ops
@@HowardRamsey don’t be so contrary. It is NOT a petting zoo and those highly trained soldiers are absolutely NOT there solely for the convenience of these disrespectful tourists. So get that out of your tiny head.
Some people do ask and say thank you after , which is nice manners are everything .
I know right people love being entertained...it annoys me that they touch. Alot of people are respectful tho and that's credit to them for being respectful and diligent.
The school children having their photo at the end - I heard an adult (probably their teacher) saying "show some respect" or something like that!
@@Violet-jy6qs agreed, but it’s a tiny minority that do 👍🏼
Thirty years ago people generally behaved themselves much better around the Queen's Guards, with no needs for the signs to tell tourists not to touch the reins. People from across the world, English-speaking or otherwise, knew not to touch the horses without permission. Nowadays everyone treats this as a petting zoo. It's disgraceful.
Here in America you would be ticketed for touching the horse.
My grandad was in the Royal Horse Artillery Regiment. He fought in the first world war. He would sleep at the horses 🐎 feet to help keep them calm. He just loved horse's. He learnt about horse's when he was a young boy working in a flour mill. And we come from Glasgow.
I wish I could thank your grandad for his service.
that story shared was so interesting .thank you Brenda
@maliapeat6022 Ty from my Family. Xx
So was mine he was gassed and died in the 30’s.
Sorry for your loss xx
I wonder how often the guards feel like dropping the flat of their sword across the tops of disrespectful tourists noggins? Much more patient than I would be in a similar environment! Well done to all service people... and service animals too!👍
I often wonder if the guards have a scoreboard for how many times they have to shout at people, how many people get nibbled by the horses, etc 😂
I keep saying instead of sword give them a riding crop. When people BBC are grabbing the reins etc., give their hands a whack! Lol
@@dianekruger5977 me, too! Needs to be one of those longer one so the guard can reach the hand. The head would be a good spot, too!
Why flat?
@@nilocnolnah6788 Too hard to get the stains off the burnished metal! LOL 🤣
Only a truly self-entitled, arrogant Ahole would grab the reins of someone's horse like that. Doesn't matter what the circumstances are, you do not do that.
As I watch these young guards on these magnificent horses (including the police on their horses) I think if I could have a re-do on my life, I would pursue a career like mounted police. What a dream job...low paying, but a dream job none the less!
Not sure where you got low paying from but I just read this >>>> The average annual salary of a mounted police officer is $70,000 pa , as of 2013 !
I wanted to join the mounted police in London many decades ago, but at the time women were not accepted. About 3 years later the first women became mounted officers, by which time I’d had my first child and moved to the country.
Is it me or are these bay horses smaller than the Kings Life Guards black horses? They are as absolutely gorgeous as the black horses❤
@@Anahara1181 they are. The palace has a few different breeds of horses they use
@@tommytitmousethats a mounted Police Officer,
the kings guard are Serving Soldiers the rates are significantly different.
Great to hear lady saying “ Be respectful to the horse”. The kids were well behaved!🤗
Total respect for these men and women.
💯 %, It's sad 😢people don't
And the horses too. Personally I do do think they should be allowed to touch the horses or them at all.
Stunning horses. They're very talkative.
I cannot believe parents let children stand so close to an animal who can bite or kick as the notice warns..
Unbelivable
I wonder if they think they could sue if their leetle darlinks were hurt. You cannot sue a horse !! Could you imagine the scenario? They have a sign
more or less telling them what the horses COULD do. It is so frustrating for us viewing these scenes. 😡
Know what you mean. Seen several videos when parents push their terrified kids to stand right next to the horse for a photo, if they try to move away they push them back. Should have social services child protection on their tails. Another video had African nursery teaching assistant pick up a little white girl and took her to the horses face, the little girl was only around 3yrs old and was wriggling to be put down, the stupid woman tightened her grip until a passing lady told her off. Had that teacher done that to my great grand daughter she'd be on first plane back to Africa. They should'nt bd allowed to touch other people's children in dangerous situations like that. Even the Guard glared at the woman but smiled gently at the little girl. I hope the parents were told about that woman and she was sacked? Poor little thing was sobbing, likely never been so close to a big powerful horse in hef life and some stupid foreign teacher practically throws her in the horses face. As for anyone bring sued in the video I've just mentioned it would have been that stupid woman who picked their child up without permission, neither the Guard or the horse to blame, the parents would have seen that when they watched it. The Guard controlled his horse extremely well and the horse sensed the small child was scared. Never seen one so much as harm an infant. It's the parents or teachers in charge to blame, no one elses fault. In their desperation to be noticed they ignored their scared children to make themselves look good. Case of "Oh, look at me, I'm SO special, I forced my terrified children to stand next to a huge, powerful horse, are'nt I clever?" Can imagine them showing their snaps back home to family, friends and neighbours, and seeing children with terrified expressions staring back at them from the photo while stupid parents are grinning and saying it was just a laugh. Should call in CPS for those narcissistic clowns?
I dont either its not the horses fault but they are not a petting play thing
I love the colours of these horses, so handsome and the guards uniforms are beautiful
Thank you for your service and be safe
The King's Troop have been doing guard duties for many years whilst the horses of the other two regiments take a break for a month
Very well deserved!
Beautiful horse!
I believe the horses go to Norfolk for a holiday by the sea.
Wow, a video without the crazy laughing lady 😂😂 Beautiful horses & love the different uniforms. 🥰
I kept thinking I could hear her cackling in the background when they guards were changing. Thankfully she didn’t materialise 🙏🙉
@@sheilasmith1574shes been in the gambia. If she does reappear will be interesting to see how the kings troop deal with her.
I thought I heard her in the beginning too!!
I thought I heard her, too!
She was definitely cackling at the change of the horses. The wicked witch of the west is still around, unfortunately.
WOW!! Have never seen that coloured horse before in box. Absolutely gorgeous!!😍. A lively one too?🤣. This colour brown looks like smooth velvet. Beautiful.🥰
Surely you have seen them pulling the guns though?
In the box..? Do u mean the kings guard house?
Lizzie. Beautiful horse and guard but very noisy people❤❤
What a stunning combination of that lovely horse with the Royal Artillery soldier. So proud of our serving soldiers, these morons don't deserve to get so close to our soldiers and their horses .Tourists show some respect.
I’m from USA and I total agree with you!
Incredible, the amount of people who put their young kids right up to the horses. Especially right in front of the signs.
They horses are so beautiful and the Guards in their Uniforms they look like the horse and Guard belong together they blend so well. Beautiful.
People act like they’ve never seen a horse!!! They shouldn’t be allowed to touch them! Too many people coming at them.
Beautiful beautiful horses,, Love watching these videos ❤❤❤❤
They never used to be able to touch the horses. I dont know why they can now.
That is such a unique and beautiful horse, and the color is just amazing, kind of like a mocha color!
It’s called Bay.
Just seen a video of one of the kings troops horses, the sun was shining on him, he looked like he was glowing 😍
My father was in the Royal Horse Artillery when we were stationed in Germany they let me ride once in awhile miss him 🇨🇦live in Canada now miss all this
Wonderful memories for you.
Join the RCMP or Toronto Police Mounted Division
Even though I don’t you or your family, I wish I could thank your father for his service.
All those guards are amazing!! Admire them so much. Lots of luck from Belgium, Pinkie
Wow haven’t seen these Guards & horses on duty before they look stunning. A lot smaller than than the Blues & Royals & Life Guards.
Kings Troop Royal Artillery, stunning looking 😍 horse 🐎
Smaller and stockier for pulling the gun carriage
I watched the entrance test to the Royal Marine Band this morning. They and the King's Guards are so high up in my estimation no matter what regiment or armed forces.
Not seen this uniform before today. Very smart and horses look amazing.
The horse looked like he was beatboxing
I was watching a live yesterday, the creator was joking that the sentry had put air buds in his horses ears😂
@@marywood6270 drown out the crowd noise!
He’s stressed, it’s like stimming in autistic people. Trying to self soothe.
@@Solitude11-11Not good to hear.
He's got rhythm ❤
Love the talk amongst the horses ❤
What beautiful horses!!!! 😍
This guard, like most, will exchange a few words and a smile as can be seen earlier in this video. Treat them and their steeds with respect.
Respect horses and guards
Lol, I think that one horse must have been wearing ear buds and jiving to some music.
The creator on the live i watched said the same thing 😂
I can't imagine having to stand there away with constant attention.
Maybe a chain in front to keep tourists back.
What a very patient guard, didn't shout, just asked gently for the man and woman not to hold the reins.
I had a horse that was easily bored , I bought him a bit with a copper roller ball in the center of the bit. It gave him something to play with when we were just trying to be still.
Horses play with bits. Give it a rest about the bits. Do you think for one minute they would ruin a horses mouth by using wrong bits. One person comments and others join in.
Exactly, & they probably ever had a horse.
Agree with you they would never do anything to harm the horses
He's dancing to the beat of his own drum.😊
Those horses are better cared for than a lot of people 😂😊
My Paint gelding would play with his bits just to make noise especially in line up when the Judge is looking lol. But he never played with the bit when his kids were on showing, perfect gentleman for the win. 🇺🇸
This Guard is too nice, she needs to scream at them to “get off the reins.”
I can’t wait for my 2nd visit to London the first at 14 now 61, I’m so looking forward to going to horse guards, these troops and their horses are so special, it will be an honour to see them.
Have a wonderful time !
Well enjoy ur next visit but please have respect and dont even go near the horses.even for a silly photo.
Firstly i was brought up to always be respectful so at my age I don’t need to be reminded, secondly I’m highly allergic to horses so I have no intention on having my photo taken in front of one,
@@helengarner8826 obviously a lot of those tourists need reminding. No respect at all.
DO NOT TOUCH THE HORSES
What type of horse is this? Beautiful. Why the change in guard? Summer relief? They are gorgeous. Bless all.
Kings troop, and yes they cover summer and i believe winter relief too, friday was their first day of duty.
Buckskin
Love the horses black socks! Gorgeous!❤
That first horse looks to be a cross between Cleveland and Draught. Beautiful head and sturdy body. The guard looks very smart in his beautiful RHA uniform.
Wonderful diversity in the soldiers. The first guard Was a black male, the second appeared to be an Asian female.
They are bred in the Republic of Ireland (like the other horses used by the Household Cavalry Regiments. They are all around 15 Hands High - Larger ones at the front of the guns and the smaller stockier ones at the back. The Household Cavalry horses are obviously taller at 16 hands.
O brother. Lets leave diversity out of this for a change

These troops and their horses are equally stunning in regalia. I so want to do these up in a model one day.
Beautiful horse
Color is magnificent
This is my first time seeing a video of the Royal Artillery Guard. When i was stationed in Germany i didn't get a chance to get there but i hope to get there one day.
Wish I knew the names of these beauties, but the brown one was definitely dancing to his own drum! Love them!
Love the horses they are so friendly and happy 😊
They are not meant to be friendly they are on duty, or don't you know what that means?
Horses and riders doing very well considering they don’t do this very often. Love the plaited manes, very smart.
The mane has been hogged

Beautiful horses & uniformed guards! Look great!
Absolutely stunning colours ……horses and guards…..New Zealand.
What well behaved children and the leader of group telling them to be respectful amazing thank you
What beautiful clear footage. Thank you
That horse looks like he’s beep bop’n to music
Are these horses Cleveland Bays and Cleveland Bay/Irish Draft crosses? They are very uniform in type. Lovely.
No Cleveland Bay, mainly Irish.
Mainly Irish Draught. No mention of what they may be crossed with but Cleveland Bay less likely as that is becoming a rare breed. All the horses are acquired in Ireland and can be chestnut, bay, brown or black. Generally smaller than the Cavalry Blacks but when harnessed to the gun carriages, they work in pairs and may be in hitches with several other pairs. Speed and agility are part of their requirements. Very handsome horses.
The King's guard horse was definitely head beating to some music 😊😊😊
🥰🐴🥰🐴🥰🐴🥰🐴🥰🐴🥰🐴 xx
That is a beautiful horse. ❤
Lovely to see the little girl confident enough to stroke the horse's nose, and the horse to let her.
Wish people would do some basic research before jumping on the bandwagon about the bits and animal abuse. Pretty easy to find out with Google. These horses are well cared for and much loved.
The bridle has one bit with 2 sets of reins; the upper is attached to the ends of the bit, the lower in the upper of 2 slots in the shank. They don't use harsh bits like you see in Spain for instance. This Artillery bridle is slightly different to the Cavalry version bit both are single bits.
These use a Liverpool bit, as you say a single bit, the cavalry use a double bridle with a snaffle and curb, two bits.
@@Solitude11-11 thanks for the name of the bit. I see it is a driving bit with several variations. Makes sense given they are driving the lighter gun carriages. Interesting. Now I am curious what the actual bit style/s are in use.
The Cavalry bridle that I've seen only has the single bit in the mouth with the two sets of reins and a chain. Some views seem to show a roller midway. Not a full double bridle as in other applications but the long shank can give firmer control if needed. The bits I've seen have been straight w/o the high port. Would like to get a closer look at what variations they use depending upon the horse. Definitely neither are not like the harsh Spanish and other bridles.
The soldiers are also scanning the crowds as they are the Kings Guards, serving military men not a photo opportunity
That gorgeous horse seems to actually like contact with people, shame that too many don't understand the function of the Guard or how to behave around the horses.
Never seen this before, beautiful horses.
Handsome horses 🐴🐴🐴🐴
This horse is beautiful. I wonder what breed it is. The coloring is amazing
Beautiful horses ❤️👍
That’s a beautiful horse luv the color❤️
The clip-clopping is music to my ears.
There is no need to have those horses there except for tourist MONEY
@@susanharrison6401 Naw... Horses guarded the Monarchy for hundreds of year. Tourists are much more recent.
@@susanharrison6401not at all. Tradition. The Household Cavalry have stood guard at Horseguards since created in 1660.

Saliva is routine,
Those horses colors are beautiful
Thanks, I've never seen these uniforms before. And, I hadn't seen theses horses either. They're beautiful, the flrst ones were a lot smaller than usual.
I also see them touching horses, mothers with infants too close, no back packs and gear checked for bombs or dangerous weapons…they freely walk around…it’s not smart in this day with all the extra dangers. Even walk in the plaza behind guards and horses when the doors are open?….the guards have a panic help button, but whom ever responds doesn’t do anything but talk to the guards to see what happen. But don’t follow through with the tourist causing the problem…and escort them totally out of the area.
Wow a different horse & guard. Nice change. I respect all the guards & all the military horse, too. Thanks for your services for your country🏆🌟🙏
Im fascinated by the horses ears❤
The guards are very patient! I'm American, and I would like to know more about the Royal guards and soldiers. Is there a good site with correct cultural knowledge that I can reference to learn more? Are they present on every Royal estate like Windsor and Balmoral?
The guards are at Buckingham Palace, the Tower of London, Windsor Castle in London.
Balmoral in Scotland, and Sandringham in Norfolk, are two of the private residences owned by the Royal family. Obviously they will be guarded but as far as I know, not the same regiments as the guards on duty at the official Royal residences.
Also, on guard duty at official Royal residence Holyrood in Scotland. But there only Scottish regiments on duty.
Most guards on the royal estates, Buckingham Palace, the Tower etc. are not mounted. If you want to learn more, try googling “Household Cavalry”. Add “horses” if that’s where your interests lie.
@@pathopewell1814 Thank you! They are so dedicated to their Country. Awesome soldiers!
How I wish I could visit. From Western Australia It will take a Lotto win to get there. I was over there in 1986.
Must be so annoying, every few seconds someone is beside them, staring at them, touching their horse.Trying to talk to them…Touching the reins..🤬The reins should be attached to an alarm bell.😅

Chaperones should instruct the children on why not to swing arms & make jerky hand movements towards the horses.Poor horses having to put up with loud yells, screams,& talking along with being surrounded by hundreds of noisy people & all the different smells. The horses really like pretty women & children, & are careful with little ones & older ones. The police have some beautiful horses too
I love the black stallions but these cinnamon colored horses are BEAUTIFUL ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Fact, they do not use Stallions. They are mostly Geldings, I think they have occasional mares mixed in. Stallions and mares tend to be more moody, temperamental at times, probably do to hormones.
There are no stallions, they have all been gelded.

It amazes me every time I see a video of dumb tourists touching and grabbing the horse. It’s a HORSE !! They are everywhere leave these working guards and horses alone. Geez
That's the firs time I've seen that. A horse that doesn't want to leave.
