@@OzmaOfOzz Really, the more I listen to this man and others, pretty much everything is toxic to me. First it was no pasta, bread, grains, 90% of my diet. Now I can't have any dairy or cheese because there is some nasty protein in there. Eggs are bad if they aren't the right kind. I have to find meat from animals that aren't fed crap, and "grass fed" doesn't mean anything. So, l've just given up and eat lots of processed sugary baked goods, pumpkin pie, cheesecake, chocolate. I am 5'5" tall and weigh 100 lbs. I don't feel great, I have small intestine inflammatory disease. But I have to eat something. Fiber definitely makes me feel bad, but this processed sugary crap not so much, and seems like fruit and veggies, meat and eggs are more toxic. Guess this is good enough :)

I had ulcerative colitis for over 15 years, flares all during the year, medication on top of medication to TRY to keep it in “remission”. When I stopped eating wheat at all, I only got flares in the spring and fall, still a big problem. When I started Dr Gundry’s diet plan, I stopped bleeding, ALL inflammation went away and, 3 years later I’m completely fine! My gastroenterologist wishes all his patients would do what I’m doing. Has done the same for my sister, who is a registered nurse, but has an autoimmune disease. It’s GONE on this diet plan. So happy for Dr Gundry’s book!

Tom, I read some of the comments and I was really surprised at some of the negative comments. This guy, Steven Gundry, was in the Orthodox establishment for a long time. He has real surgical hardcore experience. He was willing to look at other approaches beyond his domain of expertise. He is 74 years old and has a very healthy complexion, looks younger than his chronological age. He seems to be getting real results with people with his gut regenerative system based on the empirical and research work. Why not testing his theories to see if they work for you(or your family). Your idea of "being intrigued" by his approach, shows a real open-mindedness to explore it and put it to the grinder to see if it sticks. In reality, this is what I admire about your work. You really research your guests, listen without prejudice, ask the questions to open up new possibilities for us. It's up to us to take what works and discard the rest. Thank you for creating this space of empowerment.

I am baffled by the assumption that "hardcore experience in surgery" makes anyone an expert on nutrition. Doctors do NOT learn about nutrition in medical school. They learn how to treat the symptoms of disease with drugs and surgery, many of which are diet-preventable. Oh, you need another stent? No problem, just sign here! Take 2 cups of my olive oil and I'll see you back in 6 weeks! Hmm, fat guy making money doing heart surgery, selling oil and telling people to consume mass quantities of it. They have no sustained humans well. The upper class has always eaten meat. They were much larger than the peasant class that most at grains, wheat, etc. They lived longer too. Children born to vegetarian diets are documented shorter and thinner ( BONE) than those that consume animal products. Who in the right mind would equate stunted growth to being find. Just getting by is not the same as thriving. The people of south Asia are the most feminized populations on the planet. Hormone regulation problems caused by too many vegetables.

    • @natdaniels604
      @natdaniels604 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Vic Toria - Cerenade Me is actually right I'm sad to say. Doctors don't get schooled in nutrition (only a short number of hours). They do however get heavily schooled in pharmacology and are taught not to treat the underlying cause, but to treat the symptoms (which is completely different). It doesn't fix the original problem, only masks it. Doctors are great for acute trauma but not necessarily good for chronic disease. Some doctors do go on to study nutrition after their medical degree, but it's not mandatory and they are few and far between. It's sad because nutrition is so important. Important enough that if we don't eat, we die. Every cell in our bodies requires good nutrition to function at it's best. To give it any less is doing ourselves a disservice.

I agree with the power of fasting! My great grandparents passed away at 96yrs old (great grandma) & 102yrs old (great grandfather). We're puerto rican so they ate typical hispanic foods but they did IF, I remember. They'd have a big breakfast & a decent sized dinner, dinner was always early evening too. Not all late in the night. Also, they ate all sorts of carbs - like fruits rice yucca yautia plantains beans, potatoes, yams, and meats & fish. I feel like the differences we have from them is the quality of the crap we eat now & the fact that we eat CONSTANTLY & dont move unless it's that 1 or 2 hrs at the gym. They grew alot of their foods too. I remember mama had culantro growing & mangos bananas passion fruit gandules etc. We eat weird shit nowadays, like pesticides, antibiotics, & corn. 🙄 That's why we're sick & dying early. @@danielherediadan3378 honestly? I cant know for certain BUT I feel like it could have played an important part. Just as much as intermittent fasting & moving as much as they did. I feel like maybe that's all tied together. My point is, that they ate more naturally, grew some of their foods (vs our way of buying quick & packaged), they exercised daily by way of walking & movement and they did that til very late in life. They ate the meats & seafood, they ate a little fruit, & also starchy carbs, went to bed early & they lived long. And by living long I mean still being active & everything in their 80s. My great grandmother didn't start to decline in health until she moved here (to NJ). Idk, I feel like all of it matters. I watched an interview with this lady named Lierre Keith & she mentioned how even our soil sucks. It's like we're eating dead food - veggies & fruits with no minerals or nutrients, our animals are sick bc of the diet they're fed, and in turn most of us are sick or on our way to being sick. The icing on this "unhealthy" cake is that we somehow started eating 5 "sick" meals a day..geez it's no wonder! Sorry for the long reply lol. I get so passionate about health & nutrition. 😉

Dr. Grundry is connecting things that aren't related. Yes- eating raw beans are toxic, but cooking them in a traditional way is fine. Also, saying that whole grains are connected to the cronic diseases is a huge jump. People coming from SADD of course have great success as whole foods are now being eaten. I agree we need to be concerned with phytakes and lectins, yet there are plenty of traditional ways to process them. The probiotic bacteria need a diet rich in prebiotic fiber and a lot of that comes from whole grains.

I've been following Dr. Gundry's program for about a year. Was high blood pressure and cholesterol, blood thinners, and very high triglicerides to the point of on and off a 5th prescription to avoid pancreatitis... so a total of 4, sometimes 5 prescriptions I was told I'd be on for life. I had a heart attack 5 years ago a result of the health maladies.
Since following Dr. Gundry, my prescriptions are reduced to almost eliminated, my bloodwork is stellar (perfect) for the first time in my life, I'm down 30 pounds, and feeling great. I'm continuing on towards total elimination of all prescriptions... no longer a life curse or dependence on big pharma, and healthy.
It not only makes perfect sense given the history of nutrition changes in America and beyond, and given the nature of what Dr. Gundry goes into in great detail, but it works.

When I listened to him and saw that he said we need to stop eating foods that have lectins in them, I stopped the video and looked up google to find out about lectins. There is enough information about what foods are high and low in lectins and that cooking some foods reduces the amount of lectins in them. You don't have to buy his books to find the information. His information is some true and some not. These kinds of videos are good pointers but you need to do your own research to find out what works and what doesn't. Don't just take his word for it.

@@rosaalejandraconsulting4606 Yes I heartily agree with you there. What works for some people doesn't necessarily work for others. I still think that if you eat healthy and in moderation, you can't go too far wrong. Keep away from processed foods that have preservatives in them. That can't be good for anyone. I remember growing up where there was no Maccas, no Kentucky Fried, no Hungry Jacks etc. In fact the only thing we did have was a hamburger or fish and chips made in the local milk bars that were abundant in Australia in the 50s, 60s and 70s right up until the fast food era came from America. We didn't have supermarkets but went to the local grocery store where things were bought by the pound. We obviously can't go back to those times. That's an impossibility. But we can still eat healthier in smaller amounts and not these giant sized greasy meals full of unnatural stuff. If we can get our gut flora back into balance, that will also go a long way to making us healthier. Sorry for the long winded comment.

He’s encouraging you to be your own scientist when it comes to YOUR health. If your health is sufficient and you regularly enjoy high lectin foods then by all means carry on, but if you suffer you can try this to see if it helps.

What I found interesting, disturbing, is that the good doctor failed to mention that Lectins are virtually eliminated through the cooking process. His rice 'fix' for example advocates removing virtually all of the fibre from the plant leaving only the high carbohydrate, low nutritional endosperm, when the lectin is removed from the germ during the cooking process. He also mentioned that 'insoluble fibre' is virtually needless and can without harm be removed from the diet when the exact opposite is true. The 'good' bacteria in the gut Microbiome live off of insoluble fibre creating such necessary metabolites as Short Chain Fatty Acids, Vitamins, even bacterioids that are poisonous to the bad bacteria that can make us sick. Seems to me like the good doctor has an agenda. Regardless, for those people he has helped I am thankful but despite his knowledge there exists much information/research that supports the opposite of what he is selling.

Like the reader below, I will say I do have a lot of trouble with soluble fiber. I have SIBO and it makes things much worse, actually any fiber does. My transit time is very slow, and the fiber doesn't move through the small intestine fast enough, feeding the bacteria I have there that shouldn't be. That's the theory anyway, and seems to be what I experience.
I think the rice trick, and anything removing the husks helps people b/c you are getting rid of some of the glyphosate and pesticides that I theorize are causing trouble.

I am up to the part in the video that says that people are getting auto immune problems because of whole grain. That people shouldn't be eating whole grains or brown rice and that white rice is better. I agree that lots of Asian countries have white rice in their diet but I have found that as a gluten intolerant person, eating white rice is not a good option for me.
Also it is only recently in the human world that people have eaten white anything. In medieval times, white bread was a luxury and only very wealthy people had it. The poor people only knew whole grain anything.
I agree with the premise of the antibiotics in the meat so it's always better to be sourcing grass fed beef or organic meat.
I also agree with his definition of free range chickens not being free range. I used to live across the road from a farmer who had chickens who laid free range eggs. He had his barn doors open but the chickens hardly ever ventured out. But he was still allowed to call the eggs free range eggs.
With the eggs, I am allergic to the whites of the egg. Not the yolk, just the white. My system can't handle it so this part of his argument also makes sense at least to me.
Interesting about peanuts and cashews and that a lot of exercise people tell you to eat peanut butter for protein. I love peanut butter and always have and it always gives me energy. Having said that, I do have a problem with the other foods he was talking about which includes tomatoes, egg plants, bell peppers etc so at least for me this had made a bit of sense.
I think you have to look at these youtubes and take from them what resonates with you yourself despite the fact that he is out there to make lots of money. Do your own research from the information that's given and don't take anything that's being spouted as gospel. Sorry for the long message. Just my 5 cents worth. Lots of love to everyone.

We were not evolutionary designed to eat grains and beans. There is evidence that bean consumption causes heart and kidney disease in monkeys. 2000 years into grain and bean eating, humans have shrunk about a foot and the brain has never recovered the original size. Americans are 70% carbon atoms from corn. A substance we were never exposed to until 500 years ago. Europeans are 5% carbon atoms from corn. In 1900 France banned corn as unfit for human consumption. Stop eating peanuts and cashews, they are beans not nuts. There is so much more in this vid, I hope everyone watches it twice and takes notes, plus he has a TH-cam channel.

Denise Galiano, from someone who has been off of red meat and fowl for over 30 years, let me say this... moderation in everything is key. Overloading on vegetables and fruits is not healthy, overloading on anything is not healthy. Barring someone's unique sensitivity to lectins, I don't think a few grape tomatoes or some eggplant or some other lectin protected fruit is going to do any harm. Likewise with fruit and sugar, moderation is key. One orange with breakfast, one apple with lunch, one banana with your afternoon snack. By doing that, you're providing essential nutrients without overloading on sugars or other potentially harmful components.
People need to avoid the "if one is good, a hundred are better" philosophy. A little of this, a little of that... and stick with (and don't be afraid of) the good healthy natural fats, none of the synthesized margarine-like garbage.
If there's one thing I think you can completely eliminate, it would be processed meats (deli meats) and red meat in general. While I don't eat fowl, if you can find good quality turkey or chicken, I wouldn't argue that it's bad.
      Just my two cents worth...

I stay away from sugar completely and I feel ur right with the fruit. I don't really eat it but I know my body is missing it.

----In the U.S. many doctors are drug dealers and thieves for the pharmacies . A very unhealthy sick nation for the most part...
"What foods should I avoid if I have cancer ? "
This is the single most frequently asked question from people with cancer. The answer, of course, is complicated, but controlling your cancer through "diet "comes down to two principles: controlling your body's oxidation levels to prevent cancer and limiting your "sugar intake" to prevent metastasizing of cancers.
There are three causes of diabetes that trigger cancer growth when your blood sugar is uncontrolled:
    1. Fruit juices, sweet drinks, and refined carbs.
A soft drink contains 10% sugar. So in a 1-liter bottle, you have just consumed 100 grams of sugar. If you do this three times a day and do that for 4 days, you have actually consumed about 1.2 kilograms of sugar. That is more than 2 pounds of sugar. It is beyond what the body can metabolize. We are practically growing cancer farms ! .
    2. Avoid all Oily foods, especially " polyunsaturated " fatty acids.
Avoid polyunsaturated foods, and fats Foods and oils with higher amounts of polyunsaturated fats include :
    Walnuts.
    Sunflower seeds.
    Flax seeds or flax oil.
Fish, such as salmon, mackerel, herring, albacore tuna, and trout.
    Corn oil.
    Soybean oil.
    Safflower oil.
    Canola Oil
    Peanut Oil
Perhaps the only known oils that do not damage the" liver " are coconut oil and lard. They are both saturated fats and in chemistry are not subjected to free radical attacks. Put a vegetable oil in the sun, side to side with coconut oil, and in one month the coconut oil remains the same but the vegetable oil will turn to glue. Imagine what happens if this occurs in the body as fats and oil tend to accumulate and stay in your body for a long time. Once the liver is damaged, it can't handle the body's sugars as well.
    3. Avoid Foods That Are High in Lectins such as Red Kidney Beans, Soybeans , Peanuts, Potatoes, The highest concentrations of lectins are found in foods like legumes, grains and nightshade vegetables
    Avoid all Wheat products;
Wheat contains a protein that destroys your pancreas, and studies show that this alone can initiate type 1 diabetes. Now in a cancer patient, if the pancreas doesn't work the blood sugar gets high, but as the pancreas gets destroyed, it can't produce pancreatic enzymes. Without enough enzymes in your system, the body cannot digest the food and we end up having cancer cachexia.
    "" What Not to Eat "" ;
As for a short list of what not to eat, here is an excerpt from one of my private emails:
NO WHEAT PRODUCTS , NO CORN PRODUCTS .
NO fruit or fruit juices , NO Milk .
NO COFFEE , NO sweet drinks or sodas
    NO sugar or artificial sugars.
NO corn syrup or fructose. No Dairy
NO carbonated water. Plain UN -chlorinated water is always .
NO vegetable oils ...except coconut oil used in cooking.
    NO fried foods.
    NO calcium.
NO large meals consisting largely of meats.
On the positive side, do drink plenty of water Do not eat before sleep and no large meals at dinner. Dinnertime is best before 5 p.m. No meals after this. Obviously, no snacks and bakery products.
Supplements that reduce blood sugar are helpful, as in glucophage (metformin) twice a day, B3 250 mg three times a day, and vitamin B-1 , 100 mg three times a day . Organic White tea is also important in flushing out excess sugar, while lysine, threonine, , Vitamin C, proline, tannic acid and perhaps organic green tea can help .
It is MOST important, though, to get blood sugar below or equal to 90 mg/dL. You have a 97% better survival rate from cancer if you do.
--- Controlling Your Blood Sugar When You Have Cancer ---
My method for checking blood sugar is to do so 1 HOUR AFTER eating food. Most medical practitioners today measure blood sugar based on 12-hour fasting blood sugar, which is the wrong way to measure with cancer. The reason why they are wrong is cancer becomes metastatic after a blood sugar spike ONE HOUR AFTER A MEAL. The cancer becomes metastatic in the second hour.
Obviously you have to find a cure for diabetes to cure cancer, but in more reasonable terms, if you can CONTROL BLOOD SUGAR not to exceed 110 the cancer simply can't go into metastasis.
I have found three substances that get blood sugar down, namely:
    N acetyl Cystiene
Beta carotene (mostly found in carrots)
    Bitter cucumber.
The Nacetyl cysteine has a long-term effect (which takes about a week) to get blood sugar down, but the quickest is freshly squeezed carrot juice alone or with bitter cucumber. That gets blood sugar down fairly quickly, always less than 110.
Research circles surmise that diabetes is due to a deficiency in beta-carotene and cryptoxanthin (the yellow pigments in carrot, pumpkins and orange rinds). Beta-carotene is a provitamin of Vitamin A. From my own observation I have found provitamins, or percursors of vitamins, to be far more effective than the vitamins themselves in a few cases, such as panthenol, which is a vitamin B5 of pantothenic acid or beta-carotene for example.
These get blood sugar down very quickly and also have a stabilizing effect on blood pressure (in some cases there is no need to take blood pressure medicine if carrot juice is consumed).
Most people with cancer are diabetic. However, most do not know they have diabetes or are border line , even if they did measure their blood sugar. Now, cancerous tumors require "sugar" and "glucose" for them to persist, but they REQUIRE FRUCTOSE TO METASTASIZE.
The best way to stop the metastasis has got to be lysine , BUT WITHOUT THE CALCIUM or any dairy products .
But the trigger for metastasis cancer is fructose and sugar levels. The facts on this issue of cancer survival are based on a Journal of American Medical Association (JAMA) report, that people who have more than 90 mg/dL of blood sugar have a 97% increased chance of dying. And those with blood sugar below or equal to 90 mg/dL have a 97% greater chance of survival. It's a key fact that people keep overlooking.
A cancer can reach general metastasis within 2 hours after consuming most fructose, especially in fruit juices of all kinds. Cancer here in Thailand exploded in the past 5 years here, right after national sales of fruit juices skyrocketed. So it's no coincidence that fruit juices, even without added sugar (called sucrose), do contain large amounts of sugars, such as the fructose found in fruits to begin with.
People tell me how healthy fruits are, and of course they are healthy, for healthy people. What we fail to realize is that research studies assume people with normal blood sugar find them beneficial, and also that in laboratory rats, we prepare fruit extracts, WITHOUT the sugar fructose.
Fructose is more dangerous then sucrose, but sucrose is a double sugar that has fructose and glucose built in. The body's insulin merely controls your blood glucose, but has no control of fructose directly allowing fructose, as a Trojan horse to damage the system .

      "Symptoms of Iron Toxicity"
Iron toxicity occurs when high levels of the element are accumulated in the body, leading to hemochromatosis. Excess iron can deplete vitamin B6 and vitamin C, as well as cause a deficiency of manganese, zinc, and copper. Many of the adverse physical health conditions caused by iron toxicity are a direct result of these deficiencies (5).
      ..Iron and Cancer Risk
There is no doubt that iron overload may lead to cancer in both animals and humans It appears that regular blood donation or blood loss may reduce this risk . Observational studies suggest that a high intake of heme iron may increase the risk of colon cancer .
Clinical trials in humans have shown that heme iron from supplements or red meat may increase the formation of cancer-causing N-nitroso compounds in the digestive tract .
The association of red meat and cancer is a hotly-debated topic. Although there are some plausible mechanisms explaining this link, most of the evidence is based on observational studies.
      BOTTOM LINE:
Iron overload disorders have been linked with an increased risk of cancer. Studies also suggest that heme-iron may raise the risk of colon cancer.
Hemochromatosis is an iron storage disease that occurs when there is an overload of iron in the body. It is the consequence of the intestine’s inability to keep out unneeded iron .
Iron accumulates in the organs, often iron-storing organs like the liver, and damages the tissues.
In addition to those mentioned above, iron toxicity may also alter a person’s brain chemistry and affect one’s mood or personality!
An overload of this metal is often associated with a strong ego, rigidity, tenaciousness, hostility, stubbornness, and irritability.
Iron also raises Na (Sodium) levels. Slow oxidizers have low sodium levels; so if you are a slow oxidizer, please take this into consideration as well.
Iron overload refers to the gradual build-up of too much iron in the body. ... Over time, untreated hemochromatosis increases the risk of arthritis, cancer, liver problems, diabetes and heart failure . The body has no easy way to dispose of extra iron.
The most effective way to get rid of excess iron is blood loss or best is donating blood to the RedCross.

The problem isn't PUFA's themselves but that they are almost always processed. These are the omega 6 oils you mention. Avoid processed oils and eat unprocessed unadulterated oils instead. PUFA's can prevent cancer because they bring oxygen into the cell. Processed PUFA's remove this ability. They don't attract oxygen. Much of today's health problems are due to eating processed oils: Cancer CVD arthritis mental problems pain are all related because PUFA's are involved in all of these problems. Even diabetes. Just google EFA's and any of these diseases and you'll find a strong correlation. Google Efa's and mental problems and you'll see
      .www.google.com/search?q=efas+and+mental+problems&rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS781US781&oq=efas+and+mental+problems&aqs=chrome..69i57.8567j0j8&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
A big factor in metastases is blood clots. EFAs make natural blood thinners called prostacyclin which is also a vasodilator. The key to stopping metastases is keeping the blood flowing smoothly. EFA's are used to repair cuts and tears in the arteries. Ruined EFAs from processed oils are the main cause of CVD. EFAs also regulate the inflammatory process. In fact EFAs are found on every cell membrane. EFAs are probably the most overlooked health factor today.

He has smoked on average about a 1/2 pack of cigarettes a day since he was 18 and other than having multi-joint arthritis was well as a loss of muscle mass... he is remarkably good physical and mental health. He exercises daily, takes no medication, has normal blood tests, is pre-hypertensive and eats a non-organic traditional diet with plenty of junk food in the evening. If lectins are truly the cause of all disease then explain why my father as well as tens of millions of other advanced aged American people are not prematurely dying from lectin induced disease. I believe the answer to living a long life is routinely exercising, taking as little medication as possible, stimulating the mind, keeping healthy social/family relationships and eating a well rounded diet in moderation. To focus only on lectins as the only cause of disease is truly absurd and completely flies in the face all the complexities and variabilities of human health and the many processes of aging.

Just stay away from process foods and glucose sugar and drink lots of water balance everything you eat 👍

not really. go look up CRAN. CR scientists never say outright to not eat meat or grains, but they show, through science, that some plants contain higher nutrient per calorie than others and so focus on telling us what to eat *more* of.

@@jeffsond I agree that our bodies fight germs and I bet we'd agree that only a tiny percentage of the population would benefit from a covid-19 vaccine. I sure as hell won't be getting one- nor a flu vaccine. But, there are many germs we should avoid and most of us do a crappy job of cleaning. My theory is to control what you can (within reason) and build your immune system to fight what germs you cannot control (those outside of your body, home, car, or desk at work). I like the term cooties for a few reasons, but I think bacteria, fungi, the other one that starts with an A (archoids?), and viruses can all fall under the term 'cooties' best. People can get lice and ringworm from others...and other cooties. I've been into a few homes that even had a mice or rat problem. Most people are NOT clean enough.

Go to the Better Business website regarding Gundry products ordered. Most of the complaints are about the unethical practices of not telling customers that their orders are on auto order. I'm actually trying the "Energy Renew," but now that I know, I'm not looking forward to having to deal with being charged automatically. The complaints given stemmed from people who have said there was no indication of auto order, which I'm sure by now it's in the fine print. Also, they have added products to shipments that haven't been ordered by the customers, then charge customers to return those products with their own dime. All of this is on the BBB website. These may be good products, but their finance practices need to be crystal clear to the consumer.

@jayppp9053 Hmm...so guessing you're a vegan. I tried a plant based diet and I've never felt worse or more miserable in my life. Unfortunately, my body seems to reject most veggies. Depressing to be frank. I eat the way I do now, carnivore, because all other diets failed and made me sick as hell. I wish I could be a vegetarian/vegan. I am glad you can. But, not all of us can eat that way. It's a bummer. Meat, eggs, and so forth are expensive and I don't love needing animal food to survive. But, since going carnivore, I have dropped 15 to 20 lbs and I don't experience severe IBS, gastrointestinal pain, and overall gastritis.
