Great to see someone installing proper tuners that will look and work great, instead of those useless, and unneeded in most cases, locking tuners! good job!
So good video. I really love explorer guitars. Unfortunately i can't find it in the country that i live. I hope i can get white explorer guitar as my first guitar. Good job!
Thanks a lot for your Feedback. Your V is surely a great guitar. Yes my Customer buy it with this after market Chandler Pickguard. The additional holes are not also nice but it's still a great Insert. Best Regards Nik
Thanks for your question. I have made a Fret leveling Job but I will make a separate Video about this because there are a lot of points to take care about. That’s why It’s taped/ untaped. I use mechanic grease for the tuners. Best Regards Nik
Hi Nik whats the large hole in the body between pickups it looks about 3/8 is that standard and whats the purpose ? Just found ya ill watch more my best guitar is a 95 PRS Custom 24 and still like new because i treat it with respect and never work on my own guitars i leave that to professionals like you cheers !!
Thanks a lot for your Feedback Jerry. I suppose this is a mounting hole for the grip Gibson use to lacquer the Instrument... Like on Fender Guitars. Best Regards Nik
Sehr cool!
A couple of comments. Bridge humbucker may be either T Top, or Tim Shaw or PU490, or something else, but is not P.A.F. To know this for sure you have to desolder pickup cover and see what is inside. Also applying grease better be done before installing tuners to the guitar. Oh yeah also you can use chalk with super glue for the nut.
Thanks for your Feedback. Vintage Tuners have always a risk of not working properly...So I decided not to plug the additional holes because in the case the Guitar is not stabil in Tune we have the opportunity to swap the Tuners back. Best Regards Nik
Swapping those Schaller tuners for the plate Kkusons seems like a step backwards. At least in tuning stability. And judging from the fading the Schallers have been on that guitar a long, long time. I get originality, but that was a curious decision, at best. I love your videos! So glad I found this channel. 🤘
Thanks a lot for your positive Feedback. Yes you are totally correct the Schaller are great Tuners but the owner organized the original Tuner and asked me to replace the Schallers. Feel free to check out my other Videos. Best Regards Nik
@@edwinh7908 The customer is always right, I guess? And apparently he wanted to return the guitar back to stock. The Schaller holes were completely covered by the original tuners, so no harm, no foul? I prefer tuning stability/ playability to originality, but that's just me.
take that box of dead strings and send them to a bladesmith that makes Damascus knives, tell him for the whole box you want one Damascus knife, he can keep the rest
Except for the nickel, and stainless steel has chromium. Both kinda soft. But maybe you could bolster the content with real steel and turn out a respectful tarnish resistant blade. Either way I agree, those strings deserve a new life.
I do not like the new knobs that you put on. The beautiful ones that were on there were nice. Not a big fan of the hockey stick headstock on the explorer. They should have put something similar to a Paul Reed Smith headstock on those.
@@petrekguitars Again I was trying to be a know it all. Sorry about that. It looks beautiful and I'm coming around on the hockey stick and the knobs. 😂😂
There is no heater installed....simple as that🙂But it's a tiny Workshop and if you work a move it's really not a problem. Thanks for your Feedback. Best Regards Nik

It looked so much nicer before! Great work in any case!

Nice job getting it back to original and setting it up. I have a 77 "V". Too bad the owner couldn't have found an original pick guard.
Thanks a lot for your Feedback. Your V is surely a great guitar. Yes my Customer buy it with this after market Chandler Pickguard. The additional holes are not also nice but it's still a great Insert. Best Regards Nik
At 14:50, the guitar is taped up, and then untaped. What was the point of that? What changed?
Thanks for your question. I have made a Fret leveling Job but I will make a separate Video about this because there are a lot of points to take care about. That’s why It’s taped/ untaped. I use mechanic grease for the tuners. Best Regards Nik
I like that tape hack. I might have to use that one.
Thanks for your Feedback. Feel free to use it... Best Regards Nik
Excellent video 👍🏼
Thanks a lot. Cheers Nik
Also, what lubricant are you using on the tuning machines? Great videos!
Standard Mechanic Grease.. Cheers Nik
What a beauty

Everytime I see that headstock move when he's taking the tuners off, I literally shutter..
Thanks for your feedback. You don’t have to be scared this is like the natural flex. of the neck 😉👍🕺🏻Best Regards Nik
I would have filled in the extra screw holes with toothpick dowels on the headstock.

This super glue/ Baking soda idea does not hold for a long time, therefore I consider it a wast of time.

LOL I've had that "temporary" trick on my 330L for five years and counting. Maybe you didn't use the right glue.
My 76 is the only one I've ever seen without a broken headstock
Thanks for sharing. Yes most of them have this issue. Best Regards Nik
