This is timely advice, Nick! I have 3 viewers I focus on in each video, and I try to frame each video with "what can any or all of those 3 viewers get from watching this?" Information, entertainment, some combo? I really need to start incorporating some of the tips you gave here, though - so THANKS!
the one thing I take away from this video is: addressing your viewers as individuals, which is a great tip. I have consciously adopted that approach in my last few videos, thanks to this same advice you had mentioned on an earlier video as well.
brilliant as always. you make the most sense compared to a million yt 'experts' out there. thanks Nick. I benefit a lot from your tips, one tip at a time. my progress as a creator is slow but steady, and I never give up.
This is some of the best advice I've seen yet Nick. I for one, overlook these little details, and it certainly seems to have impacted performance. I'm going to try some of this in my next video and see what happens. Thanks!
I'm primarily a landscape photography channel who also shoots birds occasionally. My latest video was about birding, and it blew up (comparitively). My previous most-watched video was also about birding. This tells me, bird photographers are much more into my content. I don't want to give up landscape shooting, but facts are facts.
Hey Nick, I feel like I am culprint here for a couple of mistakes you have highlighted. I have just gotten an idea on what to improve in my next vlog. Thanks a lot.
This is VERY 'analytical' and extremely helpful at the same time. This is by far 'the' BEST video (IMO) that I have seen. This will help content creators understand better and start to think if they (myself included) would like to become the next rising star! Thank you a whole bunch.
Nick, you’ve been teaching me for two years since I started til now. I have 85K subs now with 100K views on average. Love you bro. Your videos helped me.
Nick , thanks so much for this information , im a diehard casual gamer , and decided that i want to improve and get better at call of duty so i figure i would share this info with other COD fans , otherwise seems that for most part my channel is doing honky dory perfect
So then End screens are pretty pointless right? We've been using them because they look more "professional", but have thought that our Outro lets people know the video is over before the end screen pops up with our playlists and recommended videos. So when doing our outro we should have the recommended videos pop up and ditch a formatted end screen altogether?
As soon as the content they are there for is done, have an end screen video or playlist showing while you do anything else. If you can build up the next video before sending them that seems to get more people over there.
Thank you Nick. I do appreciate your advise, recommendations. I don't mean to sound like a broken record on your channel. I am learning, but with my hobby and material it's difficult. I think I have a dry spell of subscribers due to my content. 🤔
Nick you're my #1 source for YT knowledge, this video helps immensely! Question: Here is a message inside the YT studio under Analytics. How can this happen suddenly? What might have changed? ...."Sometimes links to videos or videos embedded on websites and apps outside of TH-cam get less attention or are no longer visible. Check social media postings and sites that feature your content." Thanks in advance 🙂
I'm wondering whether you had a shift in or reduction of External traffic in the last 28 days? Nothing bad at all, TH-cam's just observing a shift I would say.
Hey nick , I have been trying to grow my lifestyle channel (PreShChronicles) using the tips you have been sharing, The primary problem is the CTR, the more the Impressions the lower the CTR , how do I fix this
That's totally normal. The more impressions you get, the wider audience you're video is shown to, the lower the CTR will drop. That's not a bad thing, its actually good because your content is getting shown to more people. This means that a good CTR is relative to the number of impressions a video may be getting. of course if it starts off already relatively low compared to similar videos on the same topic, that might indicate that your packaging is not doing a good enough job in winning the click. You could change the title and/or the thumbnail up to see if you can get a better response.
Nice one Nick. I have made few changes in my intros to keep the engagement and now in a process of fixing the ending my videos that feels right to my audience. I believe referring to other videos from your can be very effective to keep viewers on the channel and possibly gain subscriptions. It is just a matter of having the right mixture that is good for the audience. Take care mate and thanks again for another good video 🙂
I keep telling people this. Your channel can't just be scatterbrained because you feel as though you deserve to do everything on one channel. It needs to be structured and it needs to be precise in what you're doing
The reason most people cant niche down is because they dont really have any value to offer in a specfic space. Thats where the problem starts. Not having value to offer
Sometimes they have value to bring, but cannot see it right there and then. It can be a process to figure out what uniqueness you can bring to the table.
Thanks so much for all these tips and information that you shared. It’s very helpful to me since I am new and still learning on how to present my contents and how to create a quality video.
Really awesome idea! I missed the post and wish I could have got thrown under the bus 🚌 on what I’m doing wrong or not doing right. I do the ending thing sometimes where I let the viewers know the video is about to end. Not very long but I do it sometimes
I have 3 Niche, not just one. I make videos of all 3 and try to have one of each at least every 2 weeks. I couldn't chose 1 Niche to make videos of, I would get bored, and i think the audience would also.
If you’re looking for something else to grill, right here man! I’m an original musician, consistent uploads, quality content, and I believe I’m doing everything mostly right. Been stuck at a little over 1k subs forever. I don’t gain subs or loose them. No new attention whatsoever. This year I’m starting to implement more improvements so we’ll see what happens, but so far nothing has changed. Being a completely original creator is already going against me, but my channel feels like it’s completely dead, which is a very bizarre experience with all the content I release, and because TH-cam is supposedly fantastic for music discovery. Not saying I’m expecting to have 100k subs, but my page just feels way too small for what I do, how much content I have, and how often I release. Feel free to roast!
For original music, you should be publishing vertical content everywhere, that’s the easiest way to get in front of people. The vertical content should be things like “I was feeling like x so I made this song, I hope you like it” and “I tried to make an entire song only using (limitation), here it is…” Grab their attention and then give them a taste of the music. If you’re playing it or acting like you’re playing it it’s even better. As you’re doing that I would try to do covers and full length versions of the originals people respond well to with the vertical content. As a musician on social media you’re not only a musician but also an entertainer. So set up the music in vertical, don’t just drop the music without context.
i have an ipad that i do all my videos and youtube uploads on but cant figure out how to do those little “in screen” (other) video links. i make my videos on “imovie”. is there a way, once im loading it to youtube, to add that “inscreen” link to another video, with an apple ipad?
End screens are added either in the upload flow, or after uploaded via your Studio dashboard. On an iPad, you would have to open Safari and navigate to studio.youtube.com to access the full desktop dashboard. Go into Content, find the video in question, and tap on the Details and look for End Screens on the right hand side.
@@NickNimmin ok, cool, thx, as i do have a separate icon for youtube studio, i will play around with that now, thx. - update… i looked and dont see that “end screen” option.

Right now, TH-cam doesn't give creators any geo-blocking options when it comes to content. Now if you're streaming in a specific language, you can mark that under Language and Captions certification -> Stream Language. By default, it will default to your channel's default language. Under Licence and Distribution, there is option for Distribution, but the options are Everywhere or only Monetized platforms.

Hi Nick, I have a question, can you help me 👋 how much is allowed to be used for shorts video, content that I published in long format? Can youtube fine me for reusing content
You can sample your own content for Remixing as much as you want. If you use their Remix tools on other videos, you can use that content as much as the tool allows.
Nick, you have my permission to throw me under the bus if you’re planning to make part 2 of this video. However, most of my videos are shorts that last about 12 seconds each. Not sure how to use all your methods into my videos though. 🤔
Nick you dont reply....i have been following you for a long time. i said i set my video category in settings to NONE, but while uploading a video the category is always on HOWTO & STYLE, can this be changed.
thanks for your reply nick but it doesn't and i think its affecting my views....Upload default has been NONE but while uploading it keeps showing HOWTO & STYLE i have even tried sending a feedback to youtube but no reply@@NickNimmin
Unless you're in gaming, music or education, the category setting does not matter. Mine defaults to Film & Animation - i could easily go with How-to and Style - it really doesn't make a difference to how TH-cam promotes your videos. Also, on every upload you can manually change it to what you want it to be. Also, the Feedback option is for providing TH-cam with feedback - you won't get a reply unless TH-cam needs some important information from you regarding a serious bug you're reporting. If you do have questions, you can use the Creator Support button in the top right of your Studio dashboard or sent a tweet to @TeamTH-cam on Twitter/X.

Hello, I would like to know if it is allowed to make the video I posted private and post it again?
Re-upload the same video? No. If you Privated it, you can un-private it.
@@NickNimmin Yes, I would like to know if I can publish another video of the same type while the same video is in private?
A different video on the same topic, for sure - no problem. Just not the same video.
@@NickNimmin thank you Nick
💚Thank you!🌸
