It's like I am having a long creative block and I comment about what I survived going through instead of just having fun giving it a shot.
On the first point, I've found that in very rare occasions unchecking the subs box can potentially allow the video to grow to a new audience. I'll only do this when I know that my core base of subscribers wouldn't be interested in the video, but it's a trending topic and I want to make the video anyway. Well the only reason I turn off my publish to subscribers feed is because of 2 reasons. 1: even when I had it on my subscribers didn't even watch my videos when they were posted. I'd go to my analytics and any views I had would be not subscribed and barely any would be subscribed to. 2: my friend had turned it off and said it had worked for him and so I decided to give it a shot. So far it's been working for me and I've gained subs, views, and comments, so I'm still doing good. I don't really know what vids or topic my audience liked get either so. I'm still a small channel so I'm still trying to build my audience. I mean I can always post a community post on my channel for the subscribers on when a video is posted if that helps.

Nick, honestly we don’t know what to consume anymore . I was watching a very popular TH-cam How to do channel , and the suggestion and or advice was , uncheck the “ notify my subscribers box “ becos according to research he has done , not all your subscribers will watch your videos or click on them when published and hence the algorithm will think people are not watching your videos and hence won’t recommend your video to viewers , thus ending up with low click through read and all those views going low . Now you are saying it could very well be detrimental to one’s channel. Could we discuss further ?
That feature is designed for people doing mass uploads so they can prioritize the content their subscribers see. With that out of the way, why would you not want your subscribers to know you published a video they are likely to enjoy? TH-cam’s recommendation system prioritizes recommendations to the people most likely to enjoy your content. Some will be subscribers, some will not. You can see this in your own analytics when you publish a video. The most engaged people see it first, while simultaneously showing it to new people who are likely to enjoy it. By unchecking the box you’re literally working against yourself to try and not show your video to the people who are engaging most. The theory of the person making that video is that if you have dead subs they won’t click. If they are dead sub they won’t get recommended the content anyway because they are already not engaging.
No, you can download thumbnails the way he mentioned. You just can't tell others how to do that, in a video that is uploaded to TH-cam. THAT is what can get you a strike.
Go read Community Guidelines. never download people's thumbnails and use them as your own.. I caught someone using about 10 of my thumbnails. Thumbnails that I worked hours on even days to create... even though they looked simple they were complex ( an artist would understand). long story short: So that channel doesn't exist anymore.
@@dailyhubranx Oh yikes that is rough how they stole your thumbnails like that. Thumbnails do take lots of time to make (more than most people assume). Although I was more thinking of downloading others thumbnails to study them and see how they design them so I can apply what I learn to my own thumbnails. Nick. We go to free public events in our home town which happens to be a major tourist resort area in the south of Gran Canaria with about 5m tourists visiting a year. We film things like the gay prides (twice a year for one week each) the maspalomas carnival with over 400,000 attendees and other things like the soul festival and beach parties. All of these are free to the public and some of them are officially recognised as events of international touristic importance. At these events the DJs are playing music, that we do not request or direct, on powerful sound systems you can hear 1km away! They play whatever they play and we have no control over it. We are filming the people at the event reacting, dancing, singing and generally partying along. They are reacting to the music that is integral to the event but we have no control over. Your best and honest advice is we should not be doing this because it is dangerous? We film these events in an artistic and meaningful way trying hard to give an immersive experience like you were actually there. Do you believe we have a right to do so and how do we ensure we are payed for all the work we put in to doing this, running three independent camera operators filming, maybe 6-8 hours combined raw material per event and then around 12 hours of editing to get it into a seamless viewer experience. We should not be expected to do that for free, yeah? At the end of the day we are just going out on the street or beach in our area and filming whatever is happening at the time. How can that possibly be wrong. We have asked this before on various YT guru channels. Never got a reply but hopefully you will. Is this a case of 'much too difficult' to advise'? Do you have some good advice how we should be doing this successfully?
the unchecking notify subs thing was more of an aimed at shorts thing. iv unchecked that box everytime i uploaded a short and its performed better than anything else. but i did it on long form stuff and no it didnt work. So i feel and this comes from just me it worked on my shorts as the shorts shelf is quick fire and subs dont really need to be notified of them. Just my 2 cents though
@@NickNimmin i mean it could do with more testing but its the only reason why i think the idea exists in the first place. like i wouldnt like to get notified from a shorts channel when they upload 20 times a do so its the only reason to uncheck the box
@@Hybridsteel I'm very new but checking the subscribers box always tanks my CTR numbers. Leaving it unchecked allows TH-cam to "find" my audience vs. alerting my dead followers - or so say other TH-camrs. I honestly don't know.

Nick, quick question. Before I publish a final draft of my video, I upload a rough draft for a small group of my viewers to watch and give feedback (errors, etc.) (I email them the link). I mark it as Unlisted and I uncheck that box for notifying subscribers. Once I get their feedback, I delete the file, do a final edit and publish the final draft. If the video never gets published, then that is an acceptable way of doing it. A simple way would be to put it in Google Drive, Dropbox, etc. and share a link for them to view.
@@NickNimmin Always! Your suggestion to break my content into 2 channels has benefited my main channel [views are up on my vlogs] and the new channel already has 1k subs, just need more watch hours :D

In the US people can film in public as long as you're in plain view (not hiding) but in some other countries they don't allow it. Even when filming in public in the US you have to be careful about music playing in the background because you can get copyright strikes/claims for the music. Some public building also have rules around filming as well.
@@NickNimmin OK more specifically then, on my other channel (I posted in detail here but I can only see that comment if I log in on the account I posted from??) we specifically film organised street and beach parties, huge carnivals, pride parades etc with 80K-400K attendees at the largest. These are generally financed by the local government, plus some sponsorship. We film all of these events in as realistic way as possible using three camera operators and professional equipment to produce a seamlessly edited video that is as close as possible to actually being there. At all these events there will be continuous music played from multiple sound systems that we have no control over whatever they choose to play, but which are also an integral part of the event. What we film is completely candid and real. The events are free to attend, held in public places, some are even also shown on regional TV, we see the film crews there, and some are officially recognised as being of 'international touristic importance'. Our videos are journalistic in nature to feature and promote the event itself, not whatever the DJs decide to play. The video title and description is all about the event, what it is, where it is, when to attend yourself. No mention of music played. What is the correct way to do this without getting a dozen or more copyright claims on every video which is really annoying as we didn't 'use' the content, it is just what ever is there, and we put a huge amount of work into the video production. It's 'as is'. It's reality, nothing more or less.
Hey Nick! I have actually been unchecking the notify my subscribers tab for a few months now and it has actually helped grow the channel. I let my viewers know that I always drop videos on a Sunday and they just go and find it when they don't get the notification. I did it mainly to attract NEW viewers and it has helped immensely. From my understanding when you uncheck the box TH-cam then recommends your videos to mostly people who have never heard or seen the channel before. On certain videos that are more Subscriber centric I keep the box checked and YES in the first few hours it does amazing and then it just dies out. All i can say is that unchecking the box in the last few months has really helped my channel grow and I plan to continue to do so. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated or perhaps a whole video dedicated to what actually happens when you uncheck the box. Thank you so much for everything you do!
Thanks for the feedback! I would test that a bit more and look at the actual videos and how people are responding to them to see if you can find the difference there. I assure you it's not that check box that's making the difference. As a side note, you have a very cool channel! My brother got residency in Mexico in 2020 when he was there for 2 years. He'll probably end up moving there at some point in the future.

This is eye opener, thank you. I always learn something new here 😍😍.
Glad it was helpful!
Lots of great info in this video - thanks, Nick!
Thanks for watching!
@@NickNimmin Always! Your suggestion to break my content into 2 channels has benefited my main channel [views are up on my vlogs] and the new channel already has 1k subs, just need more watch hours :D
Thanks for another informative video man 🙏🤝

Great Video- Answered so many questions, and more.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks a lot for sharing, very helpful.

Can confirm, unchecking that notification of subscriber box is a death sentence for a new release.
Awesome video! Very helpful! It would be helpful to explain how not to use too many hashtags/tags but then explain how to correctly use them. I’m curious how to correctly use them in my videos.
Just focus on ones that are the most relevant. They don't do a lot so I wouldn't spend much time on them.
@@NickNimmin Would you put any hashtags on your videos? On average how many tags would you suggest using per video?
Had to subscribe,as a new you tuber you have gave so much vital information in
Awesome! Welcome aboard!
Thank you
Thank you for the warning ❤
I will never even try to do what you have told us to not do
How to avoid copyright claims if you make Reaction videos
It's tough. People can still try to claim it, then you have to dispute it. If you lose 3 disputes that's it.
How would someone sign a contract via email if they shouldn't download the pdf. What ways would you suggest? I never even thought about that. This video has been so helpful. Thank you.
Ask them to use Docusign.
@@NickNimmin great idea! Thank you for responding. 😀
3:26 good to know. I’ve gone giveaways before and didn’t think of this.
Great video! Thanks Mate!

Thanks for sharing Knowledge. We are watching from Philippines. Assalamu alaikom ( means peace be with you ) - is the Muslim greetings in the whole world for all Races and Tribes.
Do I have to get a license for anytihng I record incidentally in places freely open to the public that I have no control or direction over?
Always good stuff Nick👍🙌🙌🙌🙌
