“The video that you are making right now might unlock something with someone that’s struggling with depression” Wow man! Nick! While unrelated to my channel I do struggle with mental health sometimes (outside TH-cam) and this helps me “cope” I just never saw it from this other side that it could unlock something and help someone else to with what I’m doing here Wow man…thanks for this
I’m glad that stood out for you. Our videos impact others in a lot of ways that go unnoticed until someone brings it to our attention. Some of the emails I have received and some of the conversations I’ve had with viewers at conferences have my eyes water. Every person watching is living a different life and going through different things so sometimes, the right message at the right time can snap someone out of a dark place.
This is YOUR BEST video. Not only because of the advice and the bare facts that you have touched upon, but also because I happen to be among the many creators who closely relate to the people mentioned by you in this classic piece. I've always been following your vids as one creator who knows that his content is good (or above average), who has been constantly focusing on improving the quality of work, but one whose only problem seems to be 'not reaching' the right audience. I spend as much of my time listening to successful YT creators as I do in conceptualizing and creating my own stuff. But one thing is for sure. I'm not gonna give up, and it's people on YT like YOU who keep fueling my energy/passion/willpower. So, a BIG thanks for this advice Nick.
One of the things that I discovered along the way was that I needed to enjoy making the content. I abandoned a channel earlier this year with a little over 4K subs and started a new channel because I realized I did not enjoy making the content. Today, I am happier and more excited to create content on my new channel. Thanks for this timely video, Nick!!
I thought I was crazy. Thanks for this story. I can ONLY commit to one long form upload bi-weekly and 2 shorts weekly. I'm still in development stages, but I realize that I have to post about things I KNOW about and the thing that is important to me. Since making that shift, I've started growing. Thanks again for your story!
@KarenMarieBeyond What you know is a great place to start. I am glad you are seeing growth since making the changes you mentioned! Keep going and stay focused. All the best!!
Persistence of passion is often promoted as the goal of being a Creator. There’s some validity in that, but you’ve really highlighted that maybe the pursuit of learning and just getting incrementally better is a way to have a bit less pressure and a lot more results. While I haven’t ever wanted to quit - I have felt discouraged. My key is to turn things around and tell myself “wow! There’s an entire platform that lets me practice creating and lets me share it with the world - how cool is that?” It’s pretty amazing when you think about it. I’m old enough to remember a time before TH-cam - when the idea of just being able to create was full of obstacles. Now, the world can see your work.
I just loved this, Nick. I got chills when you were talking about making a difference in someone’s life through making videos and it really hits home. When I get comments saying Ive helped someone find the motivation to try something new because they saw me do it, or I helped them through a bad day, it gets me really choked up. It’s something I wasn’t expecting when I started my channel last year, but it’s one of my favorite parts, honestly. It really makes me see how important and helpful our videos can be. And here I am, watching you, so you are helping my subscribers too, by helping me. It’s a never ending cycle. I watch you and Nate and take a lot of your advice. Thanks so much for helping me navigate this new path.
I finally got monetized in May. While I am grateful for that what I really want is a sponsorship deal with my favorite vendor. Unfortunately I feel like I'm "Johnny come lately" and that door is closed as this vendor already has several MUCH larger channels they use. Ah well I didn't start the channel for money but it sure would help me maintain the hobby!
That is very true. I had a car accident 10yrs ago, that destroyed my professional life and severely affected my personal life. Until I came across a TH-camr making video about hobby. That had a cascading effect. I learned to 3D print, then CAD design and Digital Sculpting. Now I just made the jump into having my own channel to promote my product. It has given me a second lease in life with a healthy hobby that I am hoping to turn into a new professional path. Went from wishing to have died in that car accident to hope of having an income again, a purpose and the beauty of that….a hobby outlet so I don’t feel like a useless bag of meat.
Thank you, Nick! Sometimes, it can get discouraging, but I understand what you mean by getting through the learning curve. For now, TH-cam is my hobby, and slowly but surely, I see my videos picking up more and more views. Hard work pays off as they say!
Thanks for the info, I'm working on my channel and learning different ways to make content. I'm still small and I will eventually get to where I want to be here in the future.
Thanks Nick, I am a new creator and I do enjoy uploading my videos, however I truly needed to hear your advice. This helped me a lot. I will move forward on my channel and continue not to quit and take my channel seriously. Again thank you Nick.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I needed to hear this! I feel called to TH-cam as part of my purpose. I’m really new to this and trying really hard and I know I still have a lot to learn. I really want to leave my soul sucking 9-5! Growth has been slow on my channel- I will keep doing the work!
I am still figuring it out...shorts has been a help and a hinderance!!........but I enjoy making my little baking videos. Even if one person is entertained or learn something...it means my time was worth it. If you know your why...it's all that matters!
Look at brown beard Nick Nimmin.😂😂😂 You keep it real and you continue to help us so much! I'm not new but until I get where I want to be, I need to watch videos like this.
I'm so excited to settle in, for the long haul. I have enjoyed learning the gazillion things I've learned so far. Thanks so much for the clear, easy to understand information. #Growth2ALL #WeCanWinTOO!!
It has been a year of Practise for me on my Chanel .. watching so many others made me feel insecure to carry on as there’s a lot of other Chanel’s that is messing with the right infos how to grow our Chanel.. for that now I am very happy to finally get the best of them all with you Nick… thank you ❤
Yes balancing life and creating is a tough part. I know this is one area I really need to buckle down on and begin to change. I am in the reevaluating phase and figuring out a schedule that worka that isn't so overwhelming with a crazy work schedule.
This is so true. I'm still considered a very new TH-camr. I only have 786 subscribers. However, after I started ruling out all of my excuses, I started seeing consistent growth. Some people may look at my 786 subscribers and laugh but to me that means everything. I look back at my very first video and I laugh because I thought it was the sh***t but it was very corny. I try to post once a week with a couple of shorts because I work a full-time job. I'm enjoying what I'm doing and I try not to burn out but anyhow thanks man for your tips.
Just found this in passing and wanted to commend you on a job well done in this video. I started my TH-cam channel about 4 to 6 years ago and you were the number one influence to build my channel. Over time I began to take the comments on my channel seriously and most of the comments were about my authenticity as a psychotherapist , my relatability, and my natural personality. It wasn't 100% the knowledge that I brought to my channel but a combination of that knowledge with humility, personality, and as you stated authenticity. I've been able to grow a channel well over 54,000 subscribers in a short time because of this. And during every live chat, I have come to relate to my audience as if we know each other and tons of them tell me I feel like their personal therapist. That's what TH-cam is all about and I appreciate you for pointing that out!
Nick, you are such an asset to this community. I can’t thank you enough for sharing all of the knowledge you’ve gained over the years. It’s invaluable and I appreciate it wholeheartedly.
this was really helpful! one of the things that resonated with me about youtube is its ability for creators to use their creative expression, which you can make literally anything as long as you obey the guidelines and such. I think many people nowadays just look at youtube for the monetization, as for me I like how being able to create something resonates with me more as well as having my channel stand on its own two legs and be visited by people like a shop or something or a museum even if I'm not monetized yet
Great video Nick! I remember at Vidsummit when you said "this is REAL" -- it gave me chills! This is absolutely real and it's incredibly life changing. I also love how you explained the "data" versus "opinions" model. I think that going down the rabbit hole of blaming TH-cam for your lack of success is dangerous because it takes power away from you as a creator. You have total power when it comes to being successful on TH-cam. If you're not getting views, engagement, etc. there is something that is not working that you have the power to change. I appreciate you and your content so much. Sending a hug from Canada your way!
Thanks Gabi! I’m glad you enjoyed it! I had pizza with some newer creators at VidSummt and one of them mentioned that he would have taken it seriously faster if someone would have just told him it’s really a possibility. So, I added it to my presentation and have started mentioning it elsewhere. 😁
@@NickNimmin Yes!!! I love that! It is very inspiring and I wish someone told me that when I was starting too. If you can see the forest from the trees, the motivation increases!
I am starting year 9 in January of 2024, you have been a great help over the years. Thank you Nick for what you have done on this platform. I am as excited and even more driven than I was when I started. It's a marathon, not a sprint. I want to make this a significant source of support for my family.
I knew absolutely nothing when I started out, now I know how to edit, use photoshop, how to use a green screen well, setup audio equipment and configure microphones and streaming software. It takes time but it’s nice once you figure out things along the way. Hardest part I find is figuring out how to improve on-camera presence and delivery especially if you’re not a natural public speaker.
For presenting, unless you’re doing the news or something like that you can just be yourself. But, pay close attention to the fluctuations in your voice unless you want to be perceived as monotone. Pay attention to the space in between your words and the cadence of speech. Get comfortable with pausing (I’m working more on pausing too). It seems to be all about being mindful of the nuances.
Nick I'm on the youtube journey. It's been about 7 months of struggles but I really needed this video. You're the real deal. Thank you my brother. Keep up the good work.
this was really motivating to watch, especially that a video i publish might impact one person or distract someone from a bad day - that's happened to me while i've watched other people's content. I hope to eventually make that happen for someone else
This is all true. I’m doing this for now over 4 years, near 300 videos, and nearing 700 subscribers. It takes a heck of a lot of work. I’ll admit I almost quit many times. But if I actually went through with it I wouldn’t have enjoyed the success I have managed so far. Don’t quit! Even when the numbers don’t look good keep going! Push through it. 😊
I am sooo glad I "stumbled" onto your channel this morning. I needed to see this. I''m an older mom of three. I had been a touring musician most of my life. I was writing a family comedy music show for theaters, when our kids got really sick. We could no longer travel and we rarely left the house. Life as we had known has been forever changed. Fast forward several years later, kids are better but regular touring is still not the best idea. So, the family has spent last year building and setting up a studio, mostly focusing on audio because we are musicians, but also planning to start creating videos, both music and comedy, (my husband is a comedian and the kids are much like him). My biggest hope, other than the obvious making a living, is to provide clean content for families. I think I would love it if someday I find put that we encourage some other family out there that is stuck at home dealing with an illness. That we give them relief and help them laugh and find joy in spite of the challenges. Now back to work I go as I continue figuring out all this social media and creator stuff. God bless you and thank you.
There's also a tool launching that's basically an AI scriptwriting helper that trains on existing youtube channels of your choice, so you can try out different cadences, tones of voice, etc. Search for Skryptly, hope that helps!
Thank you for some of the specific things you've said as they've made a big difference for me and I'm sure others. Sometimes it seems like the platform is too saturated already or there is no point to be one more person saying things similar to other people. I've started a few channels. Some never gained subscribers, a few have but 2 have not made it to 1,000 subs yet. One has but I am not sure where to go with it. I've wondered if I should even bother at all. But you said some things here that helped a spark flicker back to life.
This is really well done, Nick. From being in every one of your live streams since January 2021 (and sporadically before), aside from the amazing community, one thing I have picked up is that TH-cam fundamentally doesn't work the way I became accustomed to social media through the friendster, Myspace, Facebook, Twitter days. All social media now relies on recommendation algorithms which behave differently per platform, but the advantage to TH-cam (besides monetization opportunities) is that through data, they disclose and present everything. No social media platform comes close. So while TH-cam can be "shooting in the dark", it also can be highly strategized and even gamified. That's powerful for the reasons you have here.
I'm breaking all the rule right now by taking a massive change in genre and participating in vlogmas. It's been interesting and surprisingly rewarding, but I'm sure I could have done it better.
I'm navigating a dilemma between nursing school and my passion for content creation. While I've just started nursing school and completed the semester, my parents are urging me to pause content creation for four years until I graduate. However, I believe in building my channel gradually during my leisure time. It's a challenge, and I'm unsure how to proceed. Any advice would be appreciated.
Loved the video. This is my second run with my channel first run I burnt out focusing on all the wrong things. This time as in my main job balance is key. Resurrected my old gaming channel from 51 subs to now 589 subs over 1yr 3 month window. Keeping it real, use community posts regularly. Interacting with subs. Using playlists, pinning comments, knowing that my videos help people each week. Not in a rush to hit the 1000. It will happen when it happens. For now enjoying creating, building a community, having great interactions, whilst doing something I enjoy.
As a new TH-cam creator this video is so awesome. my analytics shows that my audience are 51% women 49% men and 40% of the total audience are between 35-44 years of age (which is great for monetization). I make shorts telling silly jokes and I'm dealing with a lot of dislikes and swipe ups. please do you have any content suggestions in the entertainment niche for my audience. I don't have enough viewers to make a post or poll and ask them.
I’m grateful for you guys because I’m a hot 🥵 mess who doesn’t give up. I hang on to you guys every word when it comes to TH-cam success. I have a few of you seasoned creators I follow & I’m still slow getting it together. We need you guys. Thank you ❤
Been at it for a year now. It definitely has its ups and downs. But if you enjoy learning new skills and gaining new knowledge, then you will love it. I encourage anyone to start a channel, I really do. Thanks Nick for this awesome video! 😊
I watched so many videos to understand how TH-cam works and asked for answers, but get non. You, are really the only one who replayed and I have to say your compassion is real. Thank you my dear friend for helpings us. Take care my dear Nick😌
Hi Nick, this is probably one of your best videos lately. I admire your hounesty and the guts to show your vulnerability in terms of burning out. A burnout really sucks indeed, had it once during my job (I was self employed in construction business) and started crying out of the blue during work and suffered from random panic attacks. I learned from that and got out stronger than ever. You told us it took you at least 5 months to get 150 subscribers, and still you kept going on. Look where you are right now, almost 1 million subscribers, which is absolutely mental and even to me as a wee hobby channel, you're a big inspiration to keep improving and learning things. Thanks for that mate and keep up the good work you're doing. Cheers Eckie
Nick Nimmin.. TH-cam should show our videos to everyone. Lets say they only show it to some people or even half and those people or that half doesn't like the video, then TH-cam stops pushing out the video. Well what if the other people or the other half would absolutely love the video? We would never know because TH-cam stopped pushing the video out to new people. Thanks for this video brother.
TH-cam doesn't stop testing your videos to find the right audience. If they are testing with your core audience first and they don't respond, then that says something about the content missing the mark, whether the video is off-topic to what they typically get from you or the topic, packaging, and/or the video itself missed the mark somewhere. If the audience for a video is adjacent to your typical audience, it might take TH-cam a little longer to test and figure that out.
Thank you, Nick, I'm living this as you speak. As a new content creator, I feel that at one point I would love to do this as a full job and the funny part is that the people around me are doubting me and my channel partner and that we're never going to make it:). Seeing TH-cam as a content consumer vs a content creator is mindblowing. Since we started my focus on this took a whole new direction. I feel like a little kid learning about life again.
If you’re reading this, I hope your channel grows 100x. I only recently started my first youtube channel and I realised that it’s hard to stay consistent. But I believe everyone will make it if you don’t give up!
I know a classical guitar college professor who says that for the first year his main goal with a student is to be able to put the correct finger on the correct fret WITHOUT HAVING TO THINK ABOUT IT. 😉😉
This is SO good and thank you! I started my, very niche channel, it did take off and I feel like I'm just waiting for that plateau. I keep learning to deliver more and better content.
Thanks for the inspiration. I’ve been focused on building my channel for almost a year while working a full-time job. Very pleased with my progress, but sometimes it can be tough. Looking forward to another great year!
Thank you so much for this information, Nick! I found this to be motivating in a way. There was an area with your video, where you talked about how someone suffering from a certain mental health condition, watching videos that have to do with that, usually help them in the long run - I could connect with that, and I'll explain So, I have this one video on my channel, about one character who helps another character through a mental health condition they're going through (It's my latest video on my channel and it's been over 3 months since I uploaded it). I literally had one person come onto my video, and talk about how they were going through the same thing, and how watching my video helped them feel a little better. After reading their comment, I felt so good about that one video, and I was very happy that I could make someone's day with it. I'm going to watch this video as often as I can, because I want to focus on getting back onto my feet, and creating videos for my audience.
I just looked at your channel. Keep doing what you’re doing. You have naturally created something people respond to. If you’re interested in being strategic, start looking in your audience retention reports for patterns in how people respond when watching the video content. This will help you know the parts of the videos people skip, stick to, rewind and when they leave. Using that graph per video you can get really tuned into exactly what they want from you in detail. Also, use your community feed to post pics about fishing, ask viewers questions about their favorite things about fishing using the polls feature, etc. But the bigger thing is that you’re resonating heavily with people. That’s difficult to achieve but you’re doing it. Your view/sub ratio is a bit extreme so that will end up changing over time but that’s ok. Keep going.
@@NickNimmin Thanks Nick. You give sound advice and you definitely hit on a couple things I hadn’t considered much. You can bet when you say something, I listen.
Hi Nick. Thanks for sharing this. Much appreciated your honesty. I am a regular guy and went through most of the things you mentioned in this video including receiving emails from scammers. 😅 Thanks God! I have not fallen into traps and continued my journey with my own pace.
Thanks for sharing !! I have been doing this for a year and a half now. And that balance between work/stress and content is tricky for sure, but I enjoy it so much, it is worth trying to balance. And will continue to try and make it grow !!
Thank you, Nick! You're really giving back to the community with these videos that you do. You inspire a lot of people and you are making a difference. I think that people just don't understand the timeframe that it takes to learn and get good at videos and well as more importantly, build a community. It also takes some patience to go through the process. I still have a long way to go, but I can still look back on my older content and see the improvement. It's due to creators like you sharing your knowledge with us. Thank you again😁 Regards, Age
I just stumbled across your channel. Seriously, Thank you so much for this. I’ve struggled with my channel/content for a couple years. Failing to start well. I’m really trying to take this more seriously in the new year and am trying so hard to learn all I can. This video was so encouraging.
I'm subscribed on my old TH-cam. I found the courage to make my account and really put myself out there, watched alot of your videos over the last year and some. Growing my channel has been the hardest but your advice and expertise really has helped me be more creative thank you Nick you're a great mentor 😊
Hi Nick! Glad this popped up in my feed so I could stop by and thank you again. A few years ago when I was considering quitting YT, you took the time to encourage me ... as did a couple of people among my then-small audience. I'm still a relatively small channel but I have realized some of the benefits you mention in this video: I would never have dreamed 3 years ago that, at 72, I'd become an "influence marketer," even though I have related sales experience! I now field collaboration requests weekly and have established a number of affiliate relationships. This video condenses a lot of what you've said over the years -- great job! The biggest takeaway that can't be repeated enough is that it all takes an extraordinary amount of work and perseverance -- there are NO shortcuts. But if one is willing to keep at it (and a passion for one's chosen niche is critical), then good things will follow. And, yes, it's great to help others. You represent that ideal.
This is great to see! It’s amazing what can happen when action is taken and taken with intent. It’s also nice that you have sales experience, that’s extremely helpful on TH-cam. From closing brand deals to knowing how to frame an idea or offer, it’s really helpful. I also, had over a decade of sales experience to lean on.
Thank you for being honest about the scams targeted at new You Tubers!!! They also say the same thing over and over and no real information to grow ur channel, you r just growing theirs!!!! You Tube is not easy and is work, you must enjoy creating and not just wanting to get rich.
Thanks Nick! all you said resonates well with me and my experience on TH-cam so far. For y'all sending me messages that my SEO is not optimized, I'm not getting subs, my videos are not reaching a wider audience bla bla... Y'all should stay clear cos y'all not gonna get any dime from me and I'm gonna trust the process 👌💯
Thank you Nick for helping upcoming creators such as me. You’re one of the first people i decided to learn from when I started my TH-cam channel and here I am, Monetized and still learning from you buddy. Keep up the good 👏👏👏.
I was learning how to create TH-cam videos and after following your advice, I was finally able to hit 1,000 subscribers! Once again, thank you for such amazing content!
Hi Nick! Thanks for this video. I am only 3-4 months in and I had to start from scratch learning Final Cut Pro from a pure beginner level. I love making the content and I need to be more critical of myself and continue to look in the mirror. Your words made me feel more at ease with that process.
I took almost a year off of TH-cam from being discouraged then picked it back up during last October and boy, was it a slap in the face to upload content that got maybe 20 views. My views are gradually picking back up, gained a couple of subscribers this week but still got a lot of work ahead to get where I want to be at.
Yes, it is tough... but it's also rewarding. It's a unique experience to find that balance between TH-cam/Work/Life. And you can see how fast your content improves with editing, pacing, scripting and improv (some things can't be scripted). To everybody who just starts: it's a hell of a ride, but it's worth trying.
Nick today I needed to hear those words to keep me going. To be a TH-cam creator is very challenging. When I receive notification from your channel I listen and learn. Thank you, Nick, for all you do for us! Happy Holiday
Nick, you nailed it. I am so at that spot right now. TH-cam is my second job, but I love it. And it does take away from my main occupation. Even today I'm experiencing it. I want to finish two videos, I'm so close. But gotta go to work. Here's the problem. And I think many TH-cam creators experience this. When you get home from work, your mind does not work as well as mornings all coffeed up. You get home from work and all you wanna do is crack open a beer. I've got 515 subscribers btw, 8 month TH-camr - evolutionary science.
This was my original channel and I just came back to it. It’s also best to keep a channel for a single audience and start a new one for a different type of audience.
I am a old youtuber 3 years experience, I keep trying! Thank you for the advice. I am part of VidIQ, I hope I can get monetized like next year sometime.
Nick, I got so much out of this one video! I am a new TH-camr/Content Creator, and it took me several months to put myself in front of the camera and then another month to actually put the content out there. You are so right in regards to the videos out there that make grandiose promises. You can, and I have gone down the TH-cam rabbit hole watching some of those people just to realize they are selling a web site or web tool or service. I know I will not be an overnight success on TH-cam, however I am hoping to provide some good quality content at some point. Thank you. "Grampy"
I always like your videos, because they are so uplifting to continue on our journey as content creators. Also, you have done a video where you show all the flubs and bad takes when you record your videos in sections, in order to get the perfect final take after editing it together, showing even established content creators go through the process of creating good videos which we all should do!
This came up on my home page and the perfect timing. I’ve been looking to come back to TH-cam again but i keep getting stuck for one reason or another. But i don’t want to make anymore excuses
I love you brought up mental health, it was actually YT content that allowed me to heal my depression. Not doctors, not therapists, but real people sharing real experiences on TH-cam.
I appreciate your vulnerability in telling your story. Thank you. Am I right when I think that in order to get views I have to have impressions and those impressions are based on TH-cam's algorithms? So then, the question would be, how do I get more impressions?
I love watching your videos. This one was very inspiring. Especially the part about making someone have a better day. I'm approaching the 100 video mark on my channel and I still have less than 500 subscribers. I fully recognize that TH-cam is not to blame. It's entirely my boring videos and lack of skills on many levels. Slow steady improvement is my goal. My learning curve is about the same size as the curvature of the Earth! Your videos have really helped! Thank you!
That learning curve is something we all go through. Some people come onto the platform with some of the skills already from previous hobbies or work but most people have to start at zero with skills.
Thank you for the perspective. As few views as I currently get, if i can help just ONE person in some way, it will be worth my efforts. As someone who has dedicated her life to helping others I want to carry that through onto my channel. The difference between being a surgeon and being a content creator is that i may not always know if or when I do help someone. So I have to believe.
It's taken me almost 4 years to get to 300 subscribers 🤦♂️ but once I started putting more of myself in the videos, I fixed some lighting and some audio issues, and things are starting to finally work!
Sometimes I wonder if I’m good enough to be on TH-cam. But then I remember- oh wait, I’m still new to this! 😅 I don’t know why we always expect to be so perfect at the things that are new to us. I’m still learning a lot about this platform. Thanks for this!
Yes!! Thank you! This video really motivated me to not give up on my dream. Once again, thank you! I'm finding this channel really helpful on my TH-cam journey.
Thank you for this video Nick, A year a go I had a channel where I was going all in and had a lot of success getting 500 subs in 3 months but I ended up burning out just like you did. But now I feel fully committed to growing at my own pace with my new channel thank you for all that you do.
I'm having such a hard time getting watch time or even a community. I love entertainment, the idea of make ppl laugh or enjoy a good time is such an important part of my life, that make the hard times even harder. Sometimes all look so impossible, I hope one day I can be the person that helps ppl in a hard time, laughing is always the best medicine. To be honest, today is one of that days when I find all too... worthless, that's why I'm here now. Thank you for the tips Nick, and for share your story, for minuscule channels like me, helps a lot. (sorry for my English, not first language)

I abandoned a channel earlier this year with a little over 4K subs and started a new channel because I realized I did not enjoy making the content.
Today, I am happier and more excited to create content on my new channel.
Thanks for this timely video, Nick!!
👊 🤓
I thought I was crazy. Thanks for this story. I can ONLY commit to one long form upload bi-weekly and 2 shorts weekly. I'm still in development stages, but I realize that I have to post about things I KNOW about and the thing that is important to me. Since making that shift, I've started growing. Thanks again for your story!
@KarenMarieBeyond What you know is a great place to start. I am glad you are seeing growth since making the changes you mentioned! Keep going and stay focused. All the best!!
This is so true! If we don’t enjoy what we are doing, we will eventually burn out and not be able to produce our best content.
There’s an entire platform that lets me practice creating and lets me share it with the world - how cool is that?”
It’s pretty amazing when you think about it. I’m old enough to remember a time before TH-cam - when the idea of just being able to create was full of obstacles. Now, the world can see your work.
Boom! 🤓👊
🙏
Love it! 🤓 ✋
Glad it was helpful!
@HELLO-JESS thank u
I was introduced to your channel by a fellow employee. We are just getting started but loving the education you provide. Thank You!
Welcome! 👊 🤓
I know right!?!?!? Looking at those clips was a bit shocking for me 🤣🤣🤣. I’m glad you enjoyed the video.
Hi nick brown beard. 😂😂😂
Its cool to watch the progression
I'm so excited to settle in, for the long haul. I have enjoyed learning the gazillion things I've learned so far. Thanks so much for the clear, easy to understand information. #Growth2ALL #WeCanWinTOO!!
It has been a year of Practise for me on my Chanel .. watching so many others made me feel insecure to carry on as there’s a lot of other Chanel’s that is messing with the right infos how to grow our Chanel.. for that now I am very happy to finally get the best of them all with you Nick… thank you ❤
🙏
Yes balancing life and creating is a tough part. I know this is one area I really need to buckle down on and begin to change. I am in the reevaluating phase and figuring out a schedule that worka that isn't so overwhelming with a crazy work schedule.

I’m in the same boat! So hard to balance so many commitments. All the best 😊
@@favouriteeatsbyBushra you too!
Feel you, trying to film, edit and all on top of 2 jobs, yet trying and - let’s all keep trying 🙌
👊 🤓
Nick, you are such an asset to this community. I can’t thank you enough for sharing all of the knowledge you’ve gained over the years. It’s invaluable and I appreciate it wholeheartedly.

@@SatiSounlol. It’s not.
this was really helpful! one of the things that resonated with me about youtube is its ability for creators to use their creative expression, which you can make literally anything as long as you obey the guidelines and such.

Glad it was helpful! 👊 🤓
Really like the bit about not blaming TH-cam. It's so true, the only way to get better is to work on you. Thanks for the great message.
this was really motivating to watch, especially that a video i publish might impact one person or distract someone from a bad day - that's happened to me while i've watched other people's content.
Welcome aboard! 🤓✋
👊 🤓

👊 🤓
Thanks for the kind words!
When you said all the bigger channels are rooting for us smaller/beginner channels really meant a lot, thanks for the video!

Thanks for the kind words, I really appreciate it!
@@NickNimmin Well that’s good to know. Thank you 🙏
IN LOVE WITH THIS MAN!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thank you so much for this, as a new content creator and someone passionate about TH-cam this is absolute gold. 🏆
🙌
Thank you, Nick, I'm living this as you speak. As a new content creator, I feel that at one point I would love to do this as a full job and the funny part is that the people around me are doubting me and my channel partner and that we're never going to make it:). Seeing TH-cam as a content consumer vs a content creator is mindblowing. Since we started my focus on this took a whole new direction. I feel like a little kid learning about life again.
Respect for opening up about the burnout. You give some great info here, just started they journey. Thanks Nick!:)

If you’re reading this, I hope your channel grows 100x. I only recently started my first youtube channel and I realised that it’s hard to stay consistent. But I believe everyone will make it if you don’t give up!
Welcome to TH-cam! 🤓 ✋
8:34 damn man.. I felt like I was sitting in front of you, thank you very much I really needed this
I wasn’t sitting in front of you but I WAS talking to you.
Thank you so much for this information, Nick! I found this to be motivating in a way. There was an area with your video, where you talked about how someone suffering from a certain mental health condition, watching videos that have to do with that, usually help them in the long run - I could connect with that, and I'll explain
So, I have this one video on my channel, about one character who helps another character through a mental health condition they're going through (It's my latest video on my channel and it's been over 3 months since I uploaded it).
That’s awesome! I’m glad you got that kind of feedback and can see first hand the impact your videos are already making!
This is the question I keep asking "Is TH-cam worth it"????
Starting a channel two years and over but now 192subscribers is not encouraging
What would you advise to someone’s channel that for some reason exploded before they had a chance to learn the skills you speak of?

You discussed and delivered this topic so well. It’s very often that no structural neutral points are given to people are just beginning.
Thank You Nick!! I started my channel 7 days ago. I currently have 39 subbies!! So proud of the growth so far
Welcome to TH-cam! 🤓 ✋
Thank you again😁

I just stumbled across your channel. Seriously, Thank you so much for this. I’ve struggled with my channel/content for a couple years. Failing to start well. I’m really trying to take this more seriously in the new year and am trying so hard to learn all I can. This video was so encouraging.
Im glad it was helpful!

Sir, watching your video after a long time. Happy Holidays to you.
Happy holidays!
Hi Nick! Thanks for this video. I am only 3-4 months in and I had to start from scratch learning Final Cut Pro from a pure beginner level. I love making the content and I need to be more critical of myself and continue to look in the mirror. Your words made me feel more at ease with that process.
The reality is difficult, especially depending on the niche, But testing your audience, and being patient is a good start.
O wow, this is one of the most important and best videos I have ever heard on TH-cam of being on TH-cam. Thank you. This made a huge impact.
👊 🤓
Love this!
I agree
Blessings to you. This is not only for newbies but a great reminder for all. ❤
Nick today I needed to hear those words to keep me going. To be a TH-cam creator is very challenging. When I receive notification from your channel I listen and learn. Thank you, Nick, for all you do for us! Happy Holiday
You can do it! happy holidays!
Yeah, doing it when mentally fresh is a totally different thing than with leftover energy.
Great video. What made you decided to start new channels rather than revive and/or redirect your old channels?
Thank you. "Grampy"
👊 🤓
I always like your videos, because they are so uplifting to continue on our journey as content creators. Also, you have done a video where you show all the flubs and bad takes when you record your videos in sections, in order to get the perfect final take after editing it together, showing even established content creators go through the process of creating good videos which we all should do!
I appreciate that! 👊🤓
This came up on my home page and the perfect timing. I’ve been looking to come back to TH-cam again but i keep getting stuck for one reason or another. But i don’t want to make anymore excuses
I'm glad the timing was right for you - go for it!
I love you brought up mental health, it was actually YT content that allowed me to heal my depression. Not doctors, not therapists, but real people sharing real experiences on TH-cam.
Powerful! 🤓 ✋
I appreciate your vulnerability in telling your story. Thank you. Am I right when I think that in order to get views I have to have impressions and those impressions are based on TH-cam's algorithms? So then, the question would be, how do I get more impressions?
You get more impressions when people respond better to the videos you publish.
@@NickNimmin thanks Nick! I'm trying 😉
Just wondering what happened to that first channel? Is it still Around? It looked amazing. I d love to watch some of the videos
Yes, @Allourquestions
Very inspiring video, Nick. Making a difference in someone's life is not money, but it's gold.
All very true. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and your insights. "Endeavor to Persevere"
So the "abandoned" channel where is it? Did you delete it? If so why? If it is out there give us a link ....I wanna see it.
Its called "All Our Questions" - www.youtube.com/@Allourquestions
Thank you for the perspective. As few views as I currently get, if i can help just ONE person in some way, it will be worth my efforts. As someone who has dedicated her life to helping others I want to carry that through onto my channel. The difference between being a surgeon and being a content creator is that i may not always know if or when I do help someone. So I have to believe.
Thanks so much for this video. I’m starting out (well, just finished my first year of regular videos) and this advice is gold! :)

It's taken me almost 4 years to get to 300 subscribers 🤦♂️ but once I started putting more of myself in the videos, I fixed some lighting and some audio issues, and things are starting to finally work!
Could of used this 3 years ago when I first started. 3 years later I am still learning and finally things are picking up.
Sometimes I wonder if I’m good enough to be on TH-cam. But then I remember- oh wait, I’m still new to this! 😅 I don’t know why we always expect to be so perfect at the things that are new to us. I’m still learning a lot about this platform. Thanks for this!
🤓👊
Just watching this for the second time. Blown away at how good this is on multiple levels.
Thanks Doug, i appreciate that man! 🙏
Thank you so much for this! I’ve been studying the tube and the tok for a year and it be learned so much from you!
Glad you’re finding the content helpful!
I just want to say you are an inspiration. I always come back to your videos when I’m about to quit.
Thank you for the video, seems like lately the only growing channel are in the "how to grow your channel niche"
Not at all. Lots of channels growing across niches.
Yes!!
👊 🤓
I'm having such a hard time getting watch time or even a community. I love entertainment, the idea of make ppl laugh or enjoy a good time is such an important part of my life, that make the hard times even harder. Sometimes all look so impossible, I hope one day I can be the person that helps ppl in a hard time, laughing is always the best medicine.
To be honest, today is one of that days when I find all too... worthless, that's why I'm here now.
Thank you for the tips Nick, and for share your story, for minuscule channels like me, helps a lot.
(sorry for my English, not first language)
