This man literally educate us about youtube daily. The least we can do is watch the ads since he has put in alot of time and energy for making these videos for us. Thank you nick!❤
We all love Nick. When he speaks about communication here....Communicating....well I am not a very good speaker, I'm much better as a writer so mainly I use the video description box for what I want to get across. I do use the video part for visuals. I think we all need to communicate how WE do it best. Nick is great in front of a camera, so I see why he does that. :)
A very cohesively put together video with real, actionable advice and not just filler and fluff like I've seen on so many other videos. Thanks Nick, keep it coming! Your success is well deserved!
Nice one Nick. Really good reality check for all of us. I have started referring my viewers to any of my previous related videos. Sometimes, I also ask them "question of the day" in the end of some of my videos. I believe in a constant learning process when it comes to TH-cam. Thanks again for all the help mate. Take it easy 🙂
Been watching your channel for some time but here's my first comment. TH-cam can be addictive, dispiriting, frustrating, baffling, and satisfying. If I didn't enjoy the creative process so much I'd have given up long ago. Yet I battle on and enjoy the new acquaintances I'm (painfully slowly) making. Thanks for the tips!
Thank you for always helping us all on our TH-cam journeys. True success to me is having the ability to leave a positive impact on the world. Your videos go a massive way to aiding us all in improving and hopefully one day having the ability to make all our goals come to fruition. 🙏🏻
Aghh.. ya a good guy, thanks Nick. 👍🏻 Learning and growing each day with all. Being consistent and keeping up to date with info like this and the books defo helps. 🙂
My issue is, as a I document camping trips, there's no script, no agenda, I basically record what is done and said. The vid can contain amazing views, weather dependant, great chat around camp, or not depending on how the night goes. Its hard to create growth with many limiting factors, BUT growth is well growing, thanks for all your help Nick
For the document/vlog style content, you can collate the footage and think about what story you want to tell using that footage once you know what transpired.
@@NickNimmin Cheers Nick, I like to keep my videos as raw and real as possible, this time of the year in the UK, a lot of the footage is in the dark in the woods! ATB Nick 👍
Love this video. This is one of those 'get out a pen and paper and take notes' videos. I already have at least 3 things on my list now that I know I'm going to work on. Thank you for everything you do Nick.
Thank you for being transparent. Story telling isn’t my strength either. I’m like you, I just want to give the info bc I feel that’s what my audience wants.
Appreciate this man. Starting a new long form content channel and watching your videos to help me out on the journey! For me, speech has always been a stuggle for me so creating content I struggle a bit BUT it turns out that with the "vibe" that my videos are presented my low soft speaking voice fits pretty decent and I was shocked how many people accually enjoyed that. Although, I do need to work on my communication skills and what im accually saying.
First video of yours I have seen, within the first few minutes also subscribed. Always appreciate real honest info on how to grow and succeed on here. Definitely going to check out more of your content!
This information is soo specific to help with the tweaks in growing your channel. I appreciate the clarity and love how you explain things that anyone can understand. 🙂 Thank YOU !
I like that fact that you focus on knowledge and skills you learn on the way and not on what one must do or not do in specific, great things to think about in the whole video🌸
I think what I'm learning too is that when you are making videos for others it's different when you point the camera at yourself because it's always kinda more difficult to see what you're doing but easier when you're building something for a client. But I agree with the comment field being very useful. My first videos I literally had people complain my audio was really bad. But it's okay because it helped me learn.
Thanks Nick! This video is full of gems. It is also a great example of the types of videos that I struggle to execute. I can put together "how to" type videos, but put me on the screen trying to explain a topic and my videos just get boring. You have simple editing, basic lighting, limited b-roll and graphics and are not giving away an island, but it was engaging from start to end. I am sure there was a lot of time and effort into this, but you made it look easy...or at least gave me ideas to work into my videos. Thanks again!
Hi Nick! Thanks for making this video. I've followed you since starting Lucid Med in 2022 and have learned an incredible amount from you. Much appreciated. Danielle
Nick, You know what would be cool? If you could sort the music in creator mix so that we could use it for the advice you give at 4:20. Which tracks have that build up from fast to slow, gradually getting louder to build excitement? How do we find the sections of tracks with the dynamics and the tempo changes?
@agribusiness6780 @agribusiness6780 I use Storyblocks to find and build my sound tracks. In there you can see the wave form of the track, you can filter for types of instruments, mood and tempo. It's worked well for me. There are also other platforms like Epidemic Sound that are less expensive if you are just looking for audio only.
This is great. I struggle with the communication part with my videos. I need to change my audio and learn how to upgrade my videos. I did invest in a camera, tripods, new mic, and boom. But now need to add that all into my videos. It’s just trying to get it all working right. This video is great. Thanks for sharing.
I really do need to communicate better. I have always hated getting my picture taken let alone putting myself in a video but, I want to help others by seeing how much changing my diet has helped me as a 61 yr. old lady. I still cannot believe I ever even put myself out there. Thank you for all that you do for us. You are the best.
Thank you for the wonderful content, as always. I burned out last spring and am only now wanting to jump back in. You are the first place I came to refresh myself, because not only is your content so helpful, but you are always so encouraging. Thank you! 🥰 ❤
Wow,.. thanks again Nick,.. as always you have delivered again. I started watching this video with only 500 views by the time I was finished listening and watching the view counter went up 545,.. keep it up, and thanks again
Thank you Nick. You are helping helpers. That means your impact will be felt in innumerable ways. You have helped many to get started and helped people like me to keep going and I appreciate you.
Wow, thank you for these great tips. I’m considering becoming a creator/blogger, and your suggestions are very encouraging, and helpful. Thanks again, and we hope you’ll produce more blogs like this one, on this subject, 😎👍🏼😉.
First congrats on 900k. Well done with the hard work on your channel. Second, those are excellent tips and i never thought of some of it. I thought edit and cuts are one of the same. Time management is probably the hardest part due to work but will find some time to make things happen like movie reviews.
Great breakdown. Thank you! How soon after a video releases do you check the analytics and if something is off (like the CTR) do you adjust the thumbnail or video title quickly?
I’ll usually make those changes quickly because I know the baselines on my channel. But, if it’s a search targeted video I’ll let it sit and see how it ends up ranking in search.
Nick, I appreciate the videos you make so much. I am new to this and definitely getting started late in life. Honestly, it has been confusing and difficult at times. The temptation to try some more 'creative' ways to gain traction in real, but your videos have helped me avoid those pitfalls and give me motivation to keep going.
As a newb, I've been really hungry to learn as much as possible and, as you have pointed out, there are a lot of grifters out there. They remind me of the people who sold picks and shovels to the miners back in the gold rush days - skimming and scamming the dreamers. You stand out for your integrity and truly useful information. I am a subscriber on my other channel where you are my first go-to for help on this steep and challenging learning curve. Thanks and keep it up!
Great reminders about spacing! I definitely cram myself and a piano into my 24 square foot closet and don't always remember to double check angles! EEK!
Ohhhhh Nick, from all your videos and from all the years I've been on YT myself, this video has SOOOO many golden nuggets! I have all the books you mentioned actually but the theory is not enough, it's putting it in practice, right ;) Your first poing got me hooked. So yes, I keep improving every time and I'm guessing there's no book for that? 😀
Great video. Something I never seen TH-cam educators talk about is tips on managing playlists. Like do you just leave them alone? Do you go back and re-order them? I would love some tips on this subject.
Thank you! This video was very helpful. I will set this aside for now but will revisit it again tonight and take notes. TBH I should be doing this with all of your content. I would become a master at this instead of a student! 🙂
These days I am skeptical about youtube advisors...but having just found this video, I am so impressed. I really enjoyed you and your style of delivery, and the content itself! Thanks so much for some great advice. I am now subscribed. Cheers from the sailboat!
Glad you said storytelling isn’t your strong suit - cos same lol. I’m trying to find ways to incorporate that in my videos. Please share what you learn in future videos, and cheers for this video 🙌🏾
I try to communicate well, but my format is essentially doing a podcast style vlog while riding motorcycles. I just don’t have much to say sometimes. In this case i do voiceovers, however, it’s still hard to get views.
Excellent Video Nick - Thanks You. I just ordered the book 'Save the Cat', but I think I know story that inspired it. I do hope Grandma get off the roof in time.
Hi Nick, thank you so much for sharing, do you have a more detailed video of this video? I want to know more of these 10 skills in more detailed version.🙏 I am learning a lot from your tutorials, thank you so much.
Thanks for all the tips, may be needed for an old man from Northern Sweden trying to become young again by posting videos of my hobbies in the garage. I may need some support from those who have been in the TH-cam industry for a long time
Thank you for these valuable ideas and recommendations! I’ll try to follow your advice! I’ve been creating a content about Japan for almost 8 month but I still don’t have 1000 of subscribers. Hope to make some progress next year bye to your advice😉
Hey Nick, quick question for you. I know there’s probably a simple solution, but I’m gonna ask it anyways. I know that you guys talk about having the end card with a video and thinking about how you’re gonna point it to another one of your videos. But doesn’t that mean that the next video has to already be prepared and made? For a newer content creator, I feel that often times when you’re a video library isn’t built up, you’re always pointing back to the exact same videos or the “next video“ hasn’t been manufactured or produced yet. Would you suggest still doing that but just don’t have the end card Done yet and then perhaps a week or two later when the video is produced, go back and add it in? Hopefully that makes sense.
You can send people into playlists of content that you're building out. Also, when you're first getting started it's helpful to plan things out and already know how you're going to interlink your videos. But, it's not required. But, absolutely have something in your end screens even if you don't recommend something specific. It gives the most engaged viewers a clear path to take.
I love the way you produce these videos, Nick! You seem more sincere, and less salesman-like, than some of the other “how to grow your TH-cam channel” channels. You just seem more trustworthy than the others. My channel is only a few weeks old, and it’s growing, slowly, but I still am having a challenge producing the full content that my videos should be. I’m shooting for around 15 to 20 minutes (hoping to have the first one posted within the next week or so), but I seem to gravitate toward making shorts because they are easy and fast, and they tend to get more views than my long form videos (so far). Will this hurt my channel in the long run?
Thanks, I appreciate it. I think the reason I don't sound that way is because I'm the only one that isn't trying to sell you a course...lol. For your content, shorts are indeed easier so they are often a good place to start in order to get used to making content. Shorts don't require you to learn how to make thumbnails and you only need to be able to keep people watching for a short period of time. However, long form content is where the gold is for most creators. Long form content allows viewers to get to know the creator more and they allow for more in depth content. TV viewership is on the rise for TH-cam right now too so learning how to make content that meets people where they are is also important over time. Over time you'll probably do it all but I would consider what you're trying to do with TH-cam and then think about the content type that's going to best help you do it.
Thanks for another great video Nick! All these things you talk about, well I have completely hosed every one of them! LOL! But I watch your videos all the time to improve my skills.
Just found your channel and thanks for the helpful content without the hyperbole. I am 23 days in the rabbit whole and am trying to stay calm. I see so much advice on choosing your niche but some of us are locked in to our niche. And Happy! I look forward to the journey but honestly it is hard to be patient with the process.

Best practice is to upload as unlisted until you have got everything ready, then you can schedule for release.

Good info.... I've been floundering... looking to pivot my content . As always, thanks for all that you do.
👊 🤓
Your videos are very educational and encouraging. Thanks.
Thanks for another great video Nick! All these things you talk about, well I have completely hosed every one of them! LOL! But I watch your videos all the time to improve my skills.
Thanks for this video! I have been learning a lot from you!
Glad to help!

Going to check out those books. Thank you for the free advice.
My pleasure! 🤓👊
Welcome aboard! Patience is so underrated.
dam good hook my friend.
and then, the first thing you jump into is the most important thing! BOOM!! !
