Erm, actually, Mario is inspired by Popeye so it is actually if we can't have Popeye, we'll make our own ☝️🤓🤓🤓🤓
@@Malek_Mations
Mario is far from the only Italian[-American] plumber in existence, anyway.
@@Mephitinae yup. That’s exactly right. Sony tried its hardest to steal Mario and other ips from Nintendo.
Nintendo and Sony had partnership that fell apart when Nintendo realized Sony trying to steal its IPs, and Nintendo ended up partnering with Phillips instead, Sony rival at the time.
Sony was suppose to create a CD extension to the SNES to compete with the SEGA genesis and the SEGA CD. But that deal fell apart when Nintendo read the fine print.
The fine print on that deal was that whatever games that were created for that CD extension, Sony would have rights to any IPs that are related to those games, essentially it was a way to steal Nintendo’s ips. So for example, if Nintendo published a Mario game for the CD extension console, Sony would have rights to Mario.
So Nintendo did not like that ( as you know, Nintendo heavily guards it’s IPs with its lawyer ninjas), so at the last minute, Nintendo pulled out of the deal and went with Phillips, which made Sony very angry. So Sony scraped the SNES CD extension console and recreated it as the Sony PlayStation.
So in a way, Nintendo heavily influenced the original PlayStation to be in the gaming market… the PlayStation was originally supposed to be an attachment to the SNES.
Nintendo is responsible for Sony’s existence in the gaming market, and Nintendo’s innovations is what keeps Sony alive in the market. Nintendo actually is responsible for everyone who is in the gaming market because the market crashed in 1983. If Nintendo did revive the market with the NES, there probably would not be a PlayStation or an Xbox .
I love the absurd notion Nintendo was first to make games with slides, rising balloons, or floating platforms you must jump on to climb higher.
@@TelltaleBytes they wasn’t the first but when they made it, it was fun!!! It s not just what you do, it’s how you do it.
Just the 1983 game crash… Nintendo didn’t make anything new that revived the game industry back then, but what they made was very fun…. Plus they saved the industry.
Sony is about to cause the industry to crash again like in 1983… because the reason for the 1983 crash was because of a lot of garbage games with high prices came out and no one wanted them.
For example, Concord, and the PS5 pro. No one wants concord and it’s high price and Sony shut its service down and refunded customers after a little over a week of release.
And no one wants the ps5 pro with its high price, lack of games, and also because this generation is ending… so why buy the pro when a PS6 may be on the horizon ?
But who will want a ps6 if the base price may be close to a g?
The reason I’m loving this game it’s because it feels 100% Nintendo
I was thinking this same thing as well. Like I really don’t care if PS borrowed ideas from Mario, it just makes me love the game even more because I’m a huge Mario fan. Why not have both great games, everything about Astro Bot is making me love my childhood again.

You can just tell the devs of Astro loved Nintendo games growing up and wanted to make it as similar to them as possible while still putting their own twist on things. Great game inspired by great games I don't really see a problem there, I'm just happy to play it.
As a wise man once said, "holy crap! Two cakes!"
When I saw the inflating Astro, I was immediately reminded of yoshi

Good video, but lacking any Kirby & The Forgotten Land similarities. Astro Bot literally rides his PS5 controller like a Warpstar and brakes the 4th wall by waving at the camera similar to Kirby.
Good points! I nearly used Forgotten Land for the gatcha machine part, but swapped it for Melee since it looked closer visually

It‘s a mix of Galaxy and Forgotten land, definitively!

I didn't know it was similar to Mario, Astro Bot will be underneath my Christmas Tree later this year.
Same
How did you not know the game is like Mario? Astro bot is extremely similar to 3D Mario games, especially Mario galaxy, with many ideas and challenges being almost identical. It's almost mind boggling to me that people wouldn't be able to see the similarities (assuming they are at least remotely into video games).
I do want to point out that this doesn't mean that Astro bot is bad. The game looks fantastic because it does look exactly Mario. And 3D platformers are a generic enough category that it doesn't feel like as blatant of a rip off as say Foamstars is to Splatoon. If I had a Playstation, I would be instantly buying this game.

Sony tried to steal Nintendo’s IPs during the SNES days. Today Sony complaining that they don’t have a good IP line up. Now instead of trying to steal Nintendo’s IP, they copy Nintendo’s innovation to create their own IPS. Aside from gaming, Sony be dirty elsewhere. They were dirty to my favorite pop and rap artist, Michael Jackson, and Nas. Tommy Mottola , did Mariah Carey dirty. The only reason why the PS2 is currently the best selling system is because it was a glorified DVD player. The Switch will take that spot either this year or next year…. Without the dvd gimmick, without the social media or steaming services gimmicks…. The switch is a pure gaming system.. that provides just games….no
Gimmicks, just bare bones. Screw Sony.
Sony also be trying to make Spider-Man look fruity in certain woke ads. I’m from Queens, NY just like Peter Parker… and I did not like that woke ad with Spider-Man trying to pick up the soap from his end… and if you saw it, you will know it.

A lot of people are going to angrily take this the wrong way. This is a cheeky vid guys. Astro Bot is cool, but I think the issue I have is people claiming that Astro Bot is so much more innovative and sets a new standard when Nintendo has been doing stuff like this forever.
We should of course lift up creative and heartfelt endeavors like Astro Bot. But come on, we all know that they took HEAVY inspiration from 3D Mario games. We don't have to pretend it doesn't to protect your favorite piece of plastic.
I think thats the point. I´m really impressed by how funny the game looks, and im kinda sad that i won´t be able to play it because i don´t own a PS5. However, even i had read comments of people saying "it´s the most innovative game ever" and its like "Dude, i have been playing game like this since the N64". I really hope Sony starts to give more atention to this IP and new creative ideas with a more chill and colorful vibe.
Astro Bot definitely is better when it comes to the utilization of the "Rumble," tho.
@@Final_Dawnthat's because the dualsense has better rumble and haptic feedback which the joycons and especially the pro controller don't have??? (reminder that the ps5 came after the switch and pretty much 1-upped nintendo's HD Rumble, which was great but underutilized and not outstanding)
What makes it somewhat silly is the fact that you have to compare astro bot to a bunch of different games. The fact that you can find all those elements in one game speaks to how varied and fun an experience astro bot offers.
Who cares. Telling people not to defend plastic whilst defending plastic is crazy. Media obsessed n3rds with their brand loyalty.
Nintendo fans wanted Mario Galaxy 3 so badly that Sony felt obligated to make it 😂😂
I noticed all of these when they were shown, I'm sure the devs got tired if waiting for Mario on PlayStation so they made it themselves

Whenever I described this game to anyone over the past few days I literally said...It's like a 3D Mario game. But the polish and controls are in my opinion even better than Mario's 3D entries which I found could be finicky especially when Mario's gravity starts switching around or he is going upside down on like planets. Or the Camera isn't quite acting how I'd imagine it. Astro Bot is absolutely a love letter to Mario platformers, and gaming in general. I'm sure if Asobi could have gotten Nintendo and Sony's permission they would have absolutely gotten a Mario and Luigi Bot for you to find.
Nope not even close mario is better than this clone
What a weird thing to only focus on the gravity mechanic whoch is exclusively present in Mario Galaxy. Are you sure you have played Sunshine and Odyssey?
@@baggelissonic I do not like Sunshine, I have played Odyssey and beaten it. Going by 3D Mario's we have Mario 64 it's too dated for a comparison. Sunshine which I don't like so I don't really use it for any sort of comparison. And then we have Galaxy 1 and 2, and Odyssey. Those are the ones I'm mostly referring to when I say those nitpicks, they are small to me. 3D World which I loved quite a bit, feels great to play. But I don't feel like it's quite right to compare it as it feels a bit different than the other titles in the 3D Mario space.
The real question is, just because I think it's controls are slightly better, and there is more polish (Most likely because of better hardware) That it suddenly makes any of the Mario's bad games? It doesn't.
@@TheBloodyNights i see, I never claimed that you said the Mario games were bad. I just found it peculiar that you hyperfocused on the gravity mechanic and the unavoidable junk camera it sometimes create.
