Something I've noticed as I get older, is it's not about peak power figures, it's about how that power is spread out through the rpm. Bad part is that for an all around bike (meaning good to ride all year round, on/off road, passenger/no passenger, on/offroad, super reliable, super cheap to maintain, long distance travel/daily commuting, etc...) we have only 3 options to choose from (for now) but the good part is that all 3 of them are really good; those being VStrom 650/650XT, Transalp 750 and Tenere 700. So you just need to pick whichever one you think fits your type of riding and purpose the most, equip/install some features and addons to make your ride/experience fit whatever you want to do and you will have yourself the closest thing to that do-it-all ''Unicorn bike'' that everyone wants. In my case, I'm soon upgrading from an old VStrom to the new 2024 Tenere World Rally.

@@Schaaf thanks. Pity I'm currently using a Nolan N87 and that has a large and uneven vent on the chin. I think the T7 has a lack of power for two up. The T7 does the job, but I see you change to first gear in every hairpin. Solo there's no need for that. Under braking you would be more than happy with HK suspension front springs. The standard is to soft and the bike dives to much. I can only imagine what it will do two up and luggage. T7’s biggest weakness is its highway ability. The engine is too weak. Most consumers need to drive at least 1-2 hours even to find gravel roads or twist like the video, meaning comfortable 1-3hours @ 80-90mph (125-140kmh) highway cruising ability is the big plus. Indeed, this is the Achilles for most of the Mid-weight, and most people eventually choose GS1250 or similar. In reality, 90%+ consumers don’t touch offroad but pick ADV bikes as an alternative to conventional touring bikes. I know there’s Tracer, but I still hope Yamaha makes T9 for 85:15 or 90:10 Onroad/Offroad bikes, competing against somewhere between Suzuki 800 and S1000gx.
