    Something I've noticed as I get older, is it's not about peak power figures, it's about how that power is spread out through the rpm. Bikes like this may only have 70ish hp, but with a nice mid-low range punch it doesn't matter. I love my tuned MT10 with 160hp, but without breaking the law I'm only utilizing like 70hp most of the time anyway

    • @aka_pierre
      @aka_pierre ปีที่แล้ว +13

      I think for most people torque is the most important thing. It's also the reason why Harley Davidson sells any bikes at all. :)

      @ronr6605 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@aka_pierrethe wild hogs thing? :D Past midlife men thingy that just got rid of the mortgage, kids, the wife or all of it. And if they like to listen softrock or Country ofc. If it is more synthie pop they will go for something sporty like an M1000R and if it has been punk it's KTM 690 Enduro R they jump on... to find out ot is a GS they want to ride geared up to starbucks and back. But yeah, guess ur right. :) 😅

    • @aka_pierre
      @aka_pierre ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ronr6605 I mean that for all their faults, HD air cooled motors are torque rich, and that's why they have some appeal still. I went down the supersport/sportbike route too (VFR, s1000rr, tuono v4) and I still have the most fun on a torque KTM 990 v2. Butt dyno is a real thing.

    • @ronr6605
      @ronr6605 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@aka_pierre got it. 990 superduke?! 👍 So you like them characterful gals. :)) Sadly nothing for this terrain, we got too many hairpins over here and she is known to like it hard. 😅
      I like howl and torque from down-low with predictable pickup, so it's an liter-i4-naked and I got to live with the missing balancershaft. Harley tho is nothing for me, except they would put it in a naked chassis, I'm that bad of a rider that needs to feel the front atleast in the fingertips.

    Still love my T7 after 3 and a half years...such a brilliant engine! I'd like to change the exhaust for weight and aesthetics...but the standard pipe sounds so good. For comfort i tried an Airhawk seat , a sheepskin cover....finally i fitted one of the Cool Covers mesh seat cover and it's all day comfortable. Can't see myself ever parting with the T7. I went from an f4i riding all around the country and even some
    Dirt roads, test road several sport tourers and wasn’t that impressed. Picked up an 1150gs and have loved it, impressive how well it handles the twisties while also going 70mph on dirt. I’m getting pretty good riding off road with it but you are limited with the weight and have to be pretty careful what you get yourself into.
    I test ride a t7 and it does feel like a dirt bike, but lacking power. Even against the old 1150. L

    • @nogerboher5266

      Bad part is that for an all around bike (meaning good to ride all year round, on/off road, passenger/no passenger, on/offroad, super reliable, super cheap to maintain, long distance travel/daily commuting, etc...) we have only 3 options to choose from (for now) but the good part is that all 3 of them are really good; those being VStrom 650/650XT, Transalp 750 and Tenere 700. So you just need to pick whichever one you think fits your type of riding and purpose the most, equip/install some features and addons to make your ride/experience fit whatever you want to do and you will have yourself the closest thing to that do-it-all ''Unicorn bike'' that everyone wants. In my case, I'm soon upgrading from an old VStrom to the new 2024 Tenere World Rally.

    I think the T7 has a lack of power for two up. The T7 does the job, but I see you change to first gear in every hairpin. Solo there's no need for that. Under braking you would be more than happy with HK suspension front springs. The standard is to soft and the bike dives to much. I can only imagine what it will do two up and luggage. For the rest you are spot on. Thanks for sharing the vid.

      If you mean the crossplane of the CP2, i think the Africa Twin has the same crossplane as the Tenere. Both are imitating a V2 with 90 dregrees.
      The inline twins of the Ktm are imitating a 75 degree V2.
      Does this answer your question?

      @@toby-wanakyras4125 Well I’m mainly just wondering which one is more reliable, robust, suitable for adventure bike conditions, etc.

      I'd prefer the AT for onroad and the T7 for mostly offroad. Simply because it's lighter. Their engines are very similar in character

    Farla pagare 300 euro in più e darle freni degni no eh? Andare al risparmio sui freni è una cosa che mi fa andare in bestia. Anche perché se poi vuoi sistemarli in pezzi aftermarket ti partono soldoni...

    T7’s biggest weakness is its highway ability. The engine is too weak. Most consumers need to drive at least 1-2 hours even to find gravel roads or twist like the video, meaning comfortable 1-3hours @ 80-90mph (125-140kmh) highway cruising ability is the big plus.
    Indeed, this is the Achilles for most of the Mid-weight, and most people eventually choose GS1250 or similar. In reality, 90%+ consumers don’t touch offroad but pick ADV bikes as an alternative to conventional touring bikes. I know there’s Tracer, but I still hope Yamaha makes T9 for 85:15 or 90:10 Onroad/Offroad bikes, competing against somewhere between Suzuki 800 and S1000gx.
