There are many more valid reasons to choose Malaysia as your 2nd home or a retirement destination. Malaysia is free from any natural disasters, free from any threats of wars, free from extreme pollution, family friendly, language flexibility, safe, a food paradise, and many more valid reasons. But we prefer to welcome foreigners who respect and can positively contribute to our local society, though!😊✌️

As I understand the MM2H programme has been suspended temporarily as they are finalising the entry criteria after it was changed previously and applications fell almost 90%.
For me a big draw apart from what you and Ben have stated is the secularism and peaceful co existence of people and faiths and a stable govt helps which it is and the general safety of the country. The climate is favourable and access to the highlands and/or the beach is easy.

Malaysia is a simple, safe and peaceful country.. it's convenient with "simple" lifestyle particularly for example the street vendor staff and workers they are complying with health and hygiene training and practice accordance with the MOH, they are literally quite helpful and friendly.. Bear in mind too, please avoid foreign immigrants stalls and workers which might illegally have operations saprodically within big towns/cities.. Thus, Malaysia is safe and clean for a decent lifestyle which is underrated by outsiders..😊

Nice video. Glad you mentioned the excellent healthcare in Malaysia. It's a big reason why I go there. You should get a health screening done at one of the private hospitals. I go annually to Prince Court Medical Centre to have my health screening and it is so much more superior to any physical you could get in the US. Takes only 6 hours to do all the tests, get the results, go over the results with a dietician and go over the results with a doctor. Truly mindblowing. And you'll only pay about $300 USD for it.

Malaysia is a good option, Penang is my favorite! Will see how the MM2H visa goes, still too expensive $100K US deposit in a Malaysian bank is a big ask for most retirees. Philippines $10K US and $1000 US income and you qualify over 50!
    😉

We initially had it at a lower rate but that seemed too attractive and affordable for South Asians to migrate which is not favourable to Malaysian citizens as we already have our own South Asian descendants at 7% and that might disturb the current ratio of our population, therefore our government had to increase the banking in Malaysia rate.
After all we do have limited space unlike the Philippines or Indonesia.

Now it's getting more affordable all around, at least for the flight, the accommodations still worry me but I do want to save enough just to go for 1 week to start and see how it goes. Colombia is on my list too and Brazil.

Bro Ben...I believe the most appropriate place to live in Malaysia is Kota
Kinabalu..one of the reasons is being the suitable cooler temperature at Kokol Hills 15 miles away from CBD Kota Kinabalu....by next year riad/ highway linking Kokol Hills n Kk will be perfect..once the Pan Borneo Highway completed....n next aprtment us cheaper then KL ..people are the friendliest in Malaysia.....Aur pollution is low because is a greeny city...foods varies..Asian n westerern foods are always available..last but not least..to get married to the local not a big problem.

As an American looking to retire in 6-7 years, many Americans have been priced out of retirement here. We looked at Malaysia but the new visa for retired expats was really unobtainable!! Hoping they lower that substantially. I think that’s why the visa numbers dropped 90%.

    • @keangwooichoo6138
      @keangwooichoo6138 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

@angieledingham531 everyone seems to think malaysia has 1 type of visa but in fact we have 3 long term visas depending on regions.
      1. Mm2h peninsula - expensive
      2. Mm2h sarawak - autonomous region
      3. Mm2h sabah - autonomous region. Based on comparison. Sabah is still the best.
Both sabah and sarawak mm2h only require participants to stay for 30 days in a year. So the rest of the year they can go explore other places.
The financial aspect is attainable. Unlike peninsula mm2h.

There are a number of positives about Malaysia but my current go to place is Saigon. I find it's a bit edgier than Malaysia and even Thailand for that matter. I stay in D7 which is a lot cleaner and less hectic than tourist central Saigon. I feel that most of S E Asia is pretty family friendly. I feel safe walking around all these countries at night. The same can't be said for where I live in Australia. Malaysia is a very welcoming country and even the immigration officers are friendly. I do remember going to a modern cinema and having a drunk guy sit right next to me. Also you used toi be able to buy high alchohol beer at corner stores in the past. Not sure if it was legal though. I'm eating beef rendang tonight so I've definitely been influenced by Malaysian culture. Hopefully I can return to Penang some time soon.

Malaysia is a predominantly Muslim country and Islam enjoins a good balance between this worldly life and hereafter. You surely must hear the frequent callings for prayers to the one true God.
The Islamic tradition warrants cleanliness in all respects especially in observing the five pillars hence becoming the culture. Education is important the knowledge of which translates to the need for good healthcare, education, family, social life and many other virtuous values.
Yet Malaysia do not strive to be highly advanced capitalistic country - spending for wars is nominal, it wants peace with all nations of the world.
Malaysia has always advocate moderation, tolerance, love thy neighbours - all these culminate from the teaching of Islam..

Yes I do agree with you. I have some friends from western countries who prefer to live separately from their parents and tend to leave their parents on their own. I mean not all people from the west are like that. But what i'm trying to say is that taking care of our elderly parents are kind of the norm here in Malaysia and most eastern cultures. We plan to stay nearby our parents, care for them of they are old. Speak softly to them and we are taught to bevery patient with elderly people. I'm a Muslim and Malay and that is embedded in our cultures. I'm sure it is also part of the teaching of my other fellow malaysians as mostly are brought up with eastern culture.

Thai women don't want u, they just want your money. After you get all the adulation, worship from the local girls. Once the fun is over, you would struggle to settle down in Thailand. If u want an easy woman, that's the results u get. Malaysian women might be harder to get but they are more wife materials. You don't get the fun & party & wild women of Thailand but u get more stability.

in general, most people in Malaysia are very family oriented. longterm relationship equates to marriage and starting a family. If that's what you're looking for, Malaysia is indeed the place to go. I cannot say the same on behalf of other South East Asian countries since I'm not from there and don't really know their culture

You forgot a huge part: the English proficiency is nearly on par with PI (per the EF English language index). Also the education is supposedly top notch.
Also there’s a huge ethnic diversity. Besides English there are large amounts of ethnic Chinese and Indians so unlike other SE Asian countries, many might already have some language proficiency. Also, as I understand it, the local languages of Malaysia and Indonesia are similar.

Healthcare cost is a fraction of the US. Malaysians pay 0.25 dollar for 3 months of prescription drugs. Foreigners can access but you do pay higher than the local but still a fraction of a fraction
If you intend to use private hospitals, premiums is less than 500 dollar a year which again is a fraction of you pay in the US for even better care
Assisted or long term care facilities is between 6000 to 20,000 dollar a year. Again a fraction of what you pay in US

      About the case of 0.25
dollar for 3 months of prescription drug is no longer true anymore, because of lack of fun the government has to cut costs by increasing the fees to 5 ringgit and only give away 1 weeks to 1 months of prescription drugs, and the hospital is encouraging people to buy their own drugs outside.

As a malaysian, i think it really depends on what course you are taking. Many malaysians study abroad in the US. But we do have international students here as well, but mostly from the arab countries, africa and the rest of asia. And we also have foreign exchange students, teachers and lecturers from US & Europe, Japan.
From my point of view, financial wise might be better to study here. I saw plenty of european medical students come here i don't know for how long but they are here.
