15:00 A live-in non-english speaking maid from Indonesia will cost you RM1,500/m but you will need to pay the agent fee of between RM9,000 to RM15,000 for a two-year contract. The fee is to be paid upfront. For English-speaking maid e.g. from Philippines, will cost you more..
@@fuckyoutube4changingmyusername You can always Google it under "agent's fees for maids in Malaysia" and you would surely be surprised. It's much cheaper to hire a cleaner, which normally goes by, on the average, 4-hr per session per week at RM25/hr
In melaka...at Bukit Piatu, the double storey house rent is 1500 - 1800 fully furnished!! Moreover its very near to the melaka central town area.! All facilities like shopping areas are within reach in 5 mins!!
You can live with RM200 electricity for a family 4 and RM1000 grocery per month comfortably. AEON is expensive because some are imported products. So you still have more room to save and live modest living.
Assalamualaikum. We used to have in Malaysia the following supermarkets 1. Jusco (Japan). Now rebranded as Aeon. 2. Carrefour. Now taken over by Aeon and renamed Aeon Big. 3. Tesco. Sold to Lotus, from Thailand. 4. Giant. For cars, all new cars will attract a minimum customs excise duties of minimum 75%. For imported cars from South East Asia, there are import tax which is max 5%. Imports from any other region would see heavier tax, if not mistaken minimum 120% up to 300%. EVs are tax free until 2025. There is also another type of cars popular in Malaysia which is known as recond (reconditioned) used imports from either UK or Japan. Mainly, the large boxy people carrier known as Toyota Alphard and Toyota Vellfire which is the preferred choice amongst businessmen, millionaires, politicians, ministers and pop stars more than Mercedes S class and BMW 7 series. Fords are never popular here (except for the mid range Ranger pick trucks lately). Same goes to Renault and Peugoet. Vauxhall is pretty much non-existent after British left Malaysia more than 50 years ago.
The high electricity cost is usually due to 2 things, ie air conditioning and water heater.. easily 50% of your cost there. It can really shoot up if you have a water pump, especially if you have a koi pond or swimming pool..
Been waiting for a new video for what feels like FOREVER. so I think I'm addicted to your channel now! ❤Thank you for all this valuable info and I'm so looking forward to the schools review video. Thanks for all you do and see you on the next one (hopefully very soon ☺)
Good video. I will try and put up some clear graphics as I’ve got a bit lost with some of the costs and didn’t quite work out what it would cost to live there.
I was considering Canada, USA, etc, but for some or the other reason I could not immigrate, I work in IT and now I can make a informed decision. :) Thank you!
Bear in mind, basically this breakdown, as saira’s said, she is being really generous. Which is yes, really2 generous. For locals’ that definitely a very comfortable life, more like for the upper class. So if lets say, if your budget is just half of saira’s budget, dont worry, you can still live comfortably. You just have to know where to cut the budgets a bit, where to buy things, and priorities things better.
Love your British Accent! reminds me of my student years in England ..wonderful ! Sarah @! you are indeed a fast learner and definitely have picked up pretty well..I feel that your cost of living calculation is fairly reasonable ! Definitely agree with you taking a drop in maid once a week!! keep up the excellent reviews of Malaysia !👍👍💕💕
Alhamdulillah, great video! My family and I are trying to put together a move to Malaysia. Struggling on the job front. I am mid-senior management within a construction firm but in that industry there doesn't seem to be a huge demand for foreign leadership. Toying with the idea of just making the move (my wife works remotely) and then looking for work once out there.
Wow, thanks for this. I did think it would be hugely cheaper in comparison to the UAE. Villas with more bedrooms are cheaper there, even new builds, thanks for this insight, I was weighing up Hijra but swaying towards UAE due to the opportunities and next to no difference in cost of property.
As a Malaysian, and I've been in Malacca for 9 years, I would say that, that living cost is definitely on the higher side. Definitely a comfortable, way above the median level malaysians living standard. 7k a month can get you through a lot especially in Malacca. Might also be good to add school fees and phone bills (Although phone is very cheap here). Another good thing to add, and somehow seems like a compulsory, is a drinking water filter dispenser machine. Amazing content by the way! Cheers! Assalamualaikum!
@@MMMA-pt7mg I agree with you 100% but in any case this country can’t be our home anymore so we will visit there and visit other countries after if it’s not a good fit for us. I appreciate the comment 😉👍
Would you mind giving a rough breakdown on that? Like rent, electricity, groceries, how often you eat street food etc. My wife and I are relocating to Malaysia next year so I’m curious. Thank you
@@alunlloyd9812 I'm a local and living alone, not much of eating out or street foods. Rent a decent 2 rooms condo less than RM2k, bills and utilities, 500, fuel 300, insurances 600, food around 1500, etc.
Dear Sister Saira, absolutely love your content! MashaAllah. We are thinking to leave UK for a while. You made us sure we need to do just that. If a could I would go today with passport in my pocket, that’s how bad it became. Keep up the good work. May Allah swt help you with everything.
I think that was very informational. There is a few things that I think generally you’re missing you have to add a budget for entertainment and you have to add a budget for kids activities. I’m sure whether it is afterschool activities or kids expenses. I would assume you probably need around 30,000 per month to include a little bit of savings and a good lifestyle.
If you're planning to stay in Malaysia for the next few years in the same house, you can opt for solar installation which costs around RM35-40k. The ROI will be around 6-8 years. To boost the wifi signal, you can buy a Wifi repeater or have a decent modem.
Excellent information. I am researching going digital nomad. If a 4/5 bedroom house costs 590 eur per month, that's cheaper than Thailand, and why am I still living in the netherlands....
The one thing I do is to go to different markets for different things. When I was in the UK it was easier though, because a lot of cities are walkable. But here I go to Aeon for fresh produce and Lotus for water (I probably should get a water filter). Luckily where I live (Nilai) there are Aeon, Lotus and Giant all within 2-3km drive. There’s a Speedmart 99 as well, which price is actually unbeatable for certain household products (cleaning supplies mostly).
Thank you for the information. As a single person, this helped me get an idea of what I should do for a 6 month emergency fund and what to expect on a monthly basis!
The number I estimated for myself was about $2,000USD per month to live comfortably. I could probably get away with less than that, but this is just an estimate.
Wonderful video and "terima kasih"! Just a note / question: with electricity being a major utility cost, I was just wondering if solar panels would be a feasible option.
Hi, thanks for the information i am from the Maldives and my wife studying in the Philippines. I am doing Information technology after our studies, we planning to stay in Malaysia in Sha Allah we planning to change next year in November or December
In Mont kiara Kuala Lumpur you can get around RM2500-RM3000 for 3 bedroom and 2 bathroom with 1 car park. Walking distance to shopping mall one Mont kiara and a few other shopping mall likes 163 Mont kiara, publika shopping mall, Solaris shopping mall.
You hav got it on the UK point of view...where £1~rm6. This is the monthly malaysian way of expense: I earn rm18,000/mth. My monthly expanse for a family of 5 is : Provisions = rm1500 Petrol =rm400 Electric bill / TNB = rm300 Water bill = rm50 Internet 100GB /ph bill= rm120 Misc Expences= rm500 Childrens education : subsidised by PTPTN for their degree courses fees. Total per month ~ rm 3500 to rm4000. rm18,000 - rm4000 = rm14,000 savings😊
Don't you pay for rent? What about eating out, clothes, traveling? I have wife and 3 kids and I have a proposal to locate to Cyberjaya. 10k monthly salary. I believe it's not going to be enough according to my research. I would like to talk more with you if possible
The place you are living seems miles from anywhere. I’ve seen these new developments springing up outside of KL, but they look a bit isolated and one wonders what there is to do in these places. It’s alright saying you can go for a walk or play golf, but that can get a bit boring after a while.
You can also ride KTM trains from KL Sentral, buses ( a few types from low to luxury buses) or car rental. Cheaper flights only if you buy at least 2mths before. Hope this helps.
I would say Aeon has 3 main hypermarket tier. Aeonbig being the most affordable one. Then there're Aeon and Aeon Max Value. I think for regular Malaysians, mostly we go to Lotus, Aeonbig, Checkers or NSK because it's cheaper there. I believe soon they will implement targeted subsidy for petrol. I calculated for myself, if that happens, my petrol cost will increase somewhere between RM20 to RM50 per week.
Yes definitely would suggest going to wholesales market like Checkers for a family of 5. But in Melaka, maybe they can opt for Cowboy supermarket or somewhere similar.

Great content.... out of nowhere i now want to move to Malaysia. Do you get PR for the family if you purchase a property in Malaysia? What would a house like the one you are renting cost? Are the Malaysian schools English medium?
theres a video by Sana Saleh youtube which explains in detail about residency visa in Malaysia. check that video out. foreigners with stay visa can purchase a house only if they cost above than RM1 mil, because government allocates the cheaper house for locals. and finally theres alot of school systems in malaysia, the private school usually uses the international syllabus while governemt school uses malaysian education syllabus, which is divided into a variety of schooling system, i.e: normal school, religious school, maahad tahfiz, chinese school, tamil school.. hope that helps.
Thank you for the video. The prices mentioned look great. However I take issue with the school fees mentioned. All the good international schools in KL charge more than 30,000 RM per year..some as high as 120,000 per year.

A live-in non-english speaking maid from Indonesia will cost you RM1,500/m but you will need to pay the agent fee of between RM9,000 to RM15,000 for a two-year contract. The fee is to be paid upfront.
For English-speaking maid e.g. from Philippines, will cost you more..
Really? The fees are that high to get a maid? That's like agent fees for MM2H.
Hard to believe it's that much.
@@fuckyoutube4changingmyusername
You can always Google it under "agent's fees for maids in Malaysia" and you would surely be surprised.
All facilities like shopping areas are within reach in 5 mins!!
this is an useful insight for rough idea regarding cost of living in malaysia. tq!
It's largely incorrect. Why don't you watch videos by Malaysians?
You can live with RM200 electricity for a family 4 and RM1000 grocery per month comfortably. AEON is expensive because some are imported products. So you still have more room to save and live modest living.
Commenting to help boost. Great break down, gives a much better sense of the true cost. Thank you!
Assalamualaikum.
We used to have in Malaysia the following supermarkets
For Govt school...approx rm60 to rm100😊😊per year.
The high electricity cost is usually due to 2 things, ie air conditioning and water heater.. easily 50% of your cost there. It can really shoot up if you have a water pump, especially if you have a koi pond or swimming pool..
Yes, Malaysia's water is not too cool, no need water heater 😁
Yes swimming pool will add to your water bill and electricity because of the pump and filtration system
go solar
If you work for the money in uk & spend it in msia, evrything here will be cheap. Conversion, conversion, conversion...
Been waiting for a new video for what feels like FOREVER. so I think I'm addicted to your channel now! ❤Thank you for all this valuable info and I'm so looking forward to the schools review video. Thanks for all you do and see you on the next one (hopefully very soon ☺)

Thank you very helpful information please do vlog on job prospects for men and women graduates thank you
Oh that’s a good one
My family groceries cost MYR 450-600 per month not week😂
Same 😂
How much does beef chicken pork cost on average?
School at IIM International school, MELAKA...RM1500 Per term for 'O' levels icgse.
Do you live in malaysia?

Just found your channel while looking for holiday in Malaysia
Great content very well put together
Much appreciated
Very useful information. JazakhAllah Khayr
Mashallah Sister, very well explained. Subscribed, from India.
Cheers! Assalamualaikum!
absolutely love your videos and extremely excited to sell everything we own to come live in Malaysia in september!
Don't sell everything yet. Maybe 1-2 first
@@MMMA-pt7mg we are selling everything that doesn’t fit in our luggages 😜
Maybe come for a visit first.
@@MMMA-pt7mg I agree with you 100% but in any case this country can’t be our home anymore so we will visit there and visit other countries after if it’s not a good fit for us. I appreciate the comment 😉👍
*_Ideal country to retire. Cheaper than Dubai._*
Cheaper one issue. But always chasing after bigger better life. Superficial as not all can afford that
As for me living alone, I spent roughly Rm5000 to 6000 per month to live comfortably.
According to her a family can live comfortably on.much less😂
Many are being misled
Thank for these wonderful insights.❤
Excellent information. I am researching going digital nomad. If a 4/5 bedroom house costs 590 eur per month, that's cheaper than Thailand, and why am I still living in the netherlands....

Groceries/fish/chiken/vage: 1200

Informative as always
Honeymoon period. Everything nice and dandy.
Hey what did you calculate as a single person?
The number I estimated for myself was about $2,000USD per month to live comfortably. I could probably get away with less than that, but this is just an estimate.
Wonderful video and "terima kasih"! Just a note / question: with electricity being a major utility cost, I was just wondering if solar panels would be a feasible option.
Hi, thanks for the information i am from the Maldives and my wife studying in the Philippines. I am doing Information technology after our studies, we planning to stay in Malaysia in Sha Allah we planning to change next year in November or December
Very informative from USA 🇺🇸 thanks
A good and informative video!
Very interesting to watch, thanks for sharing x
There's income tax (cukai pendapatan), assessment tax (cukai taksiran), quit rent (cukai tanah/petak) and IWK (Government owned sewerage maintenance service) payments too.
2:40 if people are willing to live in condominiums, RM 3000 can get you a decent sized one in KL 👍🏽 I rent mine one out as well around that price 😁
How many bedrooms for RM 3,000 in KL? Thanks

Very helpful Could you do one about Thailand as I think it is cheaper and also visa regulation is not that strict
You hav got it on the UK point of view...where £1~rm6. This is the monthly malaysian way of expense:
I earn rm18,000/mth.
My monthly expanse for a family of 5 is :
Provisions = rm1500
Petrol =rm400
Electric bill / TNB = rm300
Water bill = rm50
Internet 100GB /ph bill= rm120
Misc Expences= rm500
Childrens education : subsidised by PTPTN for their degree courses fees.

Your information is so useful 👌. Mashallah..
Thank you, very useful lesson.

Thanks for the information that really creating value to watch ...
The place you are living seems miles from anywhere. I’ve seen these new developments springing up outside of KL, but they look a bit isolated and one wonders what there is to do in these places. It’s alright saying you can go for a walk or play golf, but that can get a bit boring after a while.
Thank you for the info …so helpful. I certainly wouldn’t keep a maid. So it’ll definitely work out cheaper for us 🙏🏼
Well said 👍
Good information.....what about travel to other cities and resorts in Malaysia...I assume you will need to factor the air fare costs?
You can also ride KTM trains from KL Sentral, buses ( a few types from low to luxury buses) or car rental. Cheaper flights only if you buy at least 2mths before. Hope this helps.
You can take KTM trains and buses.

Very helpful - thanks! Would be helpful if we could find a bit more about the medical insurance cost because some folks may have elderly parents that are moving with them.
PR malaysia is very strict……even u living here 15 years not guarantee u can get pr…..abaout immigrant law, malaysia very strict
She is in Malacca. Not every foreigners will like it there.
Good estimates. You missed the capital expenditures which include everything else such as shopping, fixing, maintenance, lazada, travel, etc.

Thank you for the video. Quick Question:
Insurance is considered Haram since it has interest element in it. So how you guys tackle this issue? Thanks
Thank you for the video. The prices mentioned look great. However I take issue with the school fees mentioned. All the good international schools in KL charge more than 30,000 RM per year..some as high as 120,000 per year.
isn't 120 000, the ones with accommodation included? Like Full boarding?
There is a lot of misinformation in all.her videos
Thanks for your videos my question is :a single person with no vices living a normal life, going to a restaurant 4 times a month, using public transport to get around, living in a city like Malacca or George Town in Penang, how much can he spend approximately per month? Thanks have a great days
Bye bye very informative video
Just a question on this analysis you've given: These costs are comparable to the likes of Qatar - Doha and/or Saudi Arabia - Riyadh.
Did u ever consider these cities as well?
If yes pls enlighten us on why you still chose Malaysia over the Gulf Countries?
