Josh your work is amazing and I love the stories behind the pictures ♥️
Give this one a like and a subscribe. The Canon 50mm 0.95 was an oddity for many years. For those who care of its history, it shares its optical formula with the contemporaneous Canon 50mm 1.4 (a superb lens) and the 1.2 (not so superb). Each lens wider than 1.4 represents a somewhat abuse of the design in order to made it faster. The 0.95 is in concept pretty silly, in that wide open, it's depth of field is less than the thickness of the eyeball you would focus on for a portrait. its resolution and contrast are much reduced, and it has a wicked field curvature (which makes it seem less sharp than it really is). So why make it? SALES. In the day, if it was faster, people wanted it. Didn't work as well as a slower lens? No one cared. When you advertise that you sell the fastest lens in the world (at the time it was), people wanted it, and they bought a lot of other stuff to go with it. If you want to get serious about the quality of the types of photos shown in the video, a 50mm 1.4 will do them all and give you better images. But it isn't as much fun to play with, at least until your wrist going numb hauling around the 0.95. If you try to buy one, look out for the ones marked "TV", as they were made for use on TV cameras and do not have a focusing cam to connect to a rangefinder. If you are adapting it to a digital camera and not using a rangefinder, never mind.
I loved your approach to asking folks for portraits. Keep it up!
First time watching your videos and I love what you’re doing. Keep it coming! I’ll be sure to keep watching. Thank you!
yes, that lens is great, but you are the excellent photographer makes it work!
Both of your videos are great! I really like this one, especially. Lots of interesting little bits. Great work!
Damn, that 1st photo in front of the brass instruments was stellar. Him sitting at his workbench was killer too.
Great job in my all time favored town - looking very forward also to your book about the artists lofts - subscribed and liked very much ❤️
Great work fellow lensman. Eye enjoyed your eye. 👍🏿
Really enjoyed this mate! Love the inclusion of you talking to that fella in the shop. Interesting and a great insight to your wander rather than just geargeargear
Wish you made more videos like this. Heck just always use this same lens and I will watch every video twice.

Great video content, great footage of the story telling and amazing photo work.
Amazing video !❣
What an interesting video. I really enjoyed it:-)
This is a very nice lens, it’s is quite sharp at 0.95, just that internal refractions, and maybe the inferior coatings kind of mask that sharp image taken at 0.95. This is how it feels like it. Even with that ‘imperfection’ it is a nice look. Design wise the the lens looks very attractive, stout and a big diameter lens with 180 degree focus throw. The example I have has not been CLA’d ever and it is hard to focus quickly. Great lens for night photography
That's a unique lens!
Love your photos and your energy!
Love the video and such wonderful shots! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks so much Ted!
Hi! Nice video!! Which adapted did you use for the sony camera?
hey man! where did you find that advertisement footage?! great video!
👍👍👍👍
is there an adapter to put this lens on a canon EF camera?
What adapter do you use for your Sony camera?
Hei, can you make comparison for Canon DREAM lens (50mm F0.95) vs TT Artisan 50mm f0.95? It would be great if you can make this one. Thanks!
Were most of these shot wide open or were some at f1.4? Great Video By The Way!
These were all shot all the way open!
you have a mist filter mounted on the video-camera, dont you?
良きかな
Can you link the lens adapter you used for your camera?
Canon FD to NEX
@@karabasbarabas91 Since the 50mm .095 was made only in its unique bayonet mount for the 7/7s and a C-video mount for TV cameras, I'll assume that you have a lens previously subjected to a bit of after-market hacking?
eBay has adapters for Sony mirrorless bodies. The bayonet lens mount interferes with the operation of an SLR's mirror. Bought the Canon 7 rangefinder w/ f0.95 in 1964 while vacationing in Japan.
WOW, did I love this video. Maybe a gimble on the video camera next time? For photographers who think they might want to try shooting like this, there are some new and inexpensive options coming out of China. I have the 7Artisans f/0.95 50mm on APS-C, which at the moment is only about $200, brand new. Like the Canon, it's also an imperfect lens with plenty of character. There are other 0.95 choices from 7Artisans, TTArtisans, LAOWA, and others. All manual focus, but pretty usable on mirrorless systems with focus assist. This is where I learned about them, really fun to shoot with. th-cam.com/video/0HlnVv0bLfs/w-d-xo.html
You think that Cop would actually ever get of there Horse to help anyone in need?
Is that chinese girl always dancing there ? Look like it on another video
Went on ebay to find one- 2-6000$ yikes-
In my opinion, the bokeh is ugly, and I didn't like it, but that's my opinion.
